So, I still do most of my "regular" shopping at Pick'n Save because it's generally cheaper, but I do head to Sendiks a couple times a month. Their sale prices are in line with sales at other stores, but "regular" prices are typically a little higher than what you find at Pick or Piggly Wiggly. That said, the quality of their steaks, deli, and produce is much better than Pick. I do wish their meat department would offer the option of vacuum sealing their steaks when they go on sale (love their NY Strip)...some butcher shops offer this, but I guess I understand why they don't. Anyway, if you're new to the area, or just don't frequent Sendik's because of the higher grocery prices, at least give their meat department and produce a try. Oh, and their store brand Sendik's tortilla chips, frozen 4-packs of chicken cordon blue, as well as their natural honey roasted peanut butter are all delicious, and I often make a special run to the store just for these items. Employees typically seem friendly and willing to help, and checkout lines are usually very short. My one complaint would be slightly wider checkout aisles. Most people enter the checkout aisle ahead of their cart to place items on the conveyer. Then, slide around the side of your car to get behind it and push it to the bagger. This is impossible to do as the checkout aisle is barely as wide as the cart itself. read more

This is absolutely, without a doubt, hands down the worst store bought cheesecake i have ever had. It was rubbery, like superball rubber. The flavor has no correlation to new york style. It tasted more like licking a rusty fence post sprinkled with aspartame. First bite was horrible and chewy but being the masochist that I am, and no believing how horrible it was I tried a smaller second bite. Horrible. I spit it back into the container, it bounced back and hit me in the eye. I do not recommend if you ain't figured it out. read more

I was in town having lunch and I saw the Sendik's on my way to the restaurant so I thought since I was going shopping later maybe I just stop at Sendik's instead. Sendik's stores are carpeted and pricey compared to its competitors but the freshness and quality of the meats, seafood and produce are noticeable right away. The produce department is bigger than other stores with a better selection. The bakery is also top notch and I always leave with something sweet, I don't have a big sweet tooth and I will not eat any commercial sweets but I will eat a real baked slice of something from Sendik's. The deli is also not bad with a lot of boars head products and generally pricey compared with its competitors. The deli usually has a variety's heat and serve items to put together various meals. Overall I like the store but since I don't have one close to me I don't get to them often read more

I'm extremely dissatisfied. The fish is raw in the middle. The potato pancakes were dry. The broccoli bacon salad was dry. Waste of money.

Sendik's has been around the Milwaukee area for many years, and this (relatively) new West Bend location brings that goodness to the hinterlands. This is more of a boutique grocery than a co-op, and definitely more upscale than the Pig. I love a store that has top-notch items in stock, is relatively easy to navigate (read: small), and where everything just LOOKS good. Civilized grocery shopping. Great lighting, well presented prepared foods, and sane, low-key marketing. Need some Gulf shrimp for that dish you just saw on TV? Check. Homemade sweet potato chips? Yup - and you should try them. Organics and health items? Yup. Not so healthy stuff? That too... Very helpful and accommodating staff. Good location. Great food. read more

Waiting at deli at least 2 minutes and another gentlemen steps up at the deli and the woman in charge of their deli makes a comment to him and laughs. She walks over and gets one of the other girls to wait on us and the woman directs her to the gentlemen, within 3 feet of me. The girl asks the gentlemen if she can help him, I was flabbergasted. How could the women in charge of the deli, whom clearly seen me standing there before him, direct the girl to wait on him first? Because she does not have any customer service or class and neither does the gentlemen. Shopped at West Bend today. Lady with Cain kept opening candy that had been wrapped for sale near produce. She would take a piece out eat and open the next and eat more! I told checkout and bagger-no surprise they did nothing! Just a little bit of contamination going on! Just gross. read more

I gave this store a second chance after my three flower arrangements ($130) lasted less than four days before they completely wilted. Then today, I was at the deli waiting for one of the six employees to respond. When the older lady did, you could see and hear how overwhelmed she was while two of the girls were having a good time. One of which, was putting the taco dip (base) into the container using her "hand" and she spent at least five minutes on one container. Just watching her was disgusting, along with goofing around in between was not only frustrating while the other lady was trying to help me out, had another customer waiting behind me and no one ever offered to assist. This is one of the better Sendiks but like the others the discontinuation of known high end product and incessant inclusion of Sendiks brand items or ShurFine over the years will keep me away except on Sunday for hot bar items and a quick lunch. Otherwise it is a high priced Pick and Save. So sad to see this company change from a local business to common every day grocer. read more

Beautiful, clean store. Has some delicious, unique items that other grocery stores do not carry. The meat and bakery section are particularly great. One negative: store hours are more limited than other markets (at least at the West Bend store), they close at nine p.m.! Also, a bit pricier than other markets though, but overall a very nice food store. Update No. 2: (July 2015): I have been to Sendik's several times in the last few months and the workers are friendly and relaxed. They have amazing steaks/meat; and their produce is beautiful and fresh. Their bakery is great too. The hours are still limited though. But taking all into consideration, Sendik's West Bend is a good place to grocery shop. read more

All I can say is wow! What an amazing food store. And, it's carpeted! Who would ever thought to do this? I can't imagine trying to clean up spills and such, but it definitely changes the perspective as soon as you walk in the door. Makes it seem more cozy and home-like. One of the largest stores in the area, I was happily surprised by the selection and quality. Offering a wide variety of items, if I lived in the area, this place would be at the top of my list for grocery shopping. Clean facility, friendly service, great selection, and reasonable prices. The Germantown location is the local Sendiks I shop at, which is too bad because this West Bend location surpasses it on so many levels! Very well appointed store brimming with fresh fruits and veggies, a large display of pristinely fresh seafood, large meat counter, and extensive deli with large salad bar and hot to go food buffet. Only disappointment was in a large, albeit less diversified selection of cheeses than other Sendik's. Customer service is what really took it over the top at this location! read more

This Grocer is highly over-rated. The location is convenient and I love their big bags of popcorn, but dairy and produce are usually expensive and the fresh seafood is not always the freshest. (Pin N Save has much fresher fish - and I never thought I'd say that!) When comparing the salad bar items to those of Pic N Save, this spread looks like chopped liver. They are often out of items like boiled eggs, or even lettuce or spinach and I always have to wait for someone to find help from bakery - why can't they just WATCH it. Lunch is only 30 min and waiting for refills is the norm. I will say that their customer svc section up front is always on the ball and they will ring you up when there are several people in line. read more

This is a great store, it's actually relaxing to shop there. Everything is top quality and their hotbar saves me from cooking at least once a week. I consistently go to this location on my way home from work and more often than not, I leave disappointed and without what I came for. I've never experience another Sendiks location that is almost always out of soup and half empty hot bar items. I've asked for the soups to be filled and twice, I've had the deli manager act like I've asked for a large favor, then check to see what is missing, and tells me there are some still full. Yes, she is correct, but when the same items are full, and the same items are empty, it would seem to me they would adjust what they are making to accommodate those who are buying the items most often. Especially during the dinner hour, which is when I come. Additionally, one day I waited 15 minutes and two pages later in the specialty home area; no one ever came. I mentioned it to the customer service clerk and all she said was "ok". I leave angry more often than not. If it weren't for the convenient location, I'd never go again. read more

Never relying on their Holiday Meal again. Went to pickup at 4:00pm on the 24th for the Xmas meal as previously ordered/scheduled. About 45 minutes later they finally come out and say they missed the order and only had the deviled egg tray? Closing at 5:00 but you can cook your own? Crazy. I had one man from the meat department actually help me with some dinner ideas which I really appreciated. High quality products and a little pricey, but honestly you get what you pay for when it comes to this store. Everyone for the most part is exceptionally friendly and I love shopping here! The only time I've had a bad experience was on a Thursday during milk days. I actually had a guy yell at me and an older lady push me because I wasn't looking at dates on milk fast enough. I have been shopping at Sendik's since the 70's. It is unfortunate that this store as declined so much. At least the one in West Bend and Germantown. I have been repeatedly told they no longer carry certain items because they are too expensive for the shoppers in this area and they advised me to go to the Mequon store. Considering I live in Allenton, work in West Bend and Menonomee Falls that is a bit out of the way. But I do occasionally make the trip. This store use to have the reputation for unique items, high quality deli, etc. These two stores are awful. They now carry pretty much the same as Pick N Save and their deli rarely has fresh food. The food in the case is dried out on top and the hot deli foods are either burned and overcooked or they are out completely. Surprisingly, I end up at Piggly Wiggly in another community to get the unique and fresh items. Mr and Mrs Balistreri would be very sad to see this read more

Really like the quality of their produce. I always go there for fresh, delicious products. Bakery products are scrumptious. Breads, cookies, etc. are super delicious. Deli is one of my favorites to pick up cheeses or lunch meat. The Sendiks popcorn is super delicious. You usually can find items there that are not at other stores in this area. I have never had a problem with any employees. They are always helpful, friendly and treat you nicely. Store is always clean. I am so glad Sendiks came to West Bend. I really like this store. The meat is excellent, the atmosphere great, and staff is very friendly. My only complaint is the produce. I would advise you to either pick your own fruit and pay a little more or really look at the prepackaged fruit very carefully. We shopped at Sendiks in West Bend on Sunday, January 13, 2019 around 1:00 p.m. and purchased over $180.00 worth of fine food. When we got to the check out I noticed that the belt was filthy and dirty. It appeared that it wasn't cleaned for hours. Wet milk stains and other wet liquids turned our stomachs. I asked the check out clerk, Lisa T, whether she could clean the belt before I place my food on it. She stated that she only cleans at the end of her shift. i told her that I wanted it cleaned. She then started to try to clean but you could see her heart was not in it. Half of the belt never was cleaned. Before placing more food on the belt, we had to wait till we found a clean area which she happened to halfway clean. I was told by management years ago that it is company policy to clean any dirty belts, but apparently this rule is overlooked since the staff look at us like we came from the planet Mars when we asked for the belt to be cleaned. Groceries from Sendik's are great, but their check out belts and check out staff stink to high heaven. Metro Mart has clean check out belts. read more

Nice store! I cannot give it, or any other grocery store a 5 star rating, simply because I shop several, but couldn't think of any one I would want as my Alpha and Omega. Frankly, if it's just groceries, like canned stuff or paper goods, go to Pick n Save, Wal-Mart or Woodmans, as they are cheaper than Sendik's. If you're looking for meats and produce to proudly serve your family or guests, Sendik's is it. That rib eye was delicious! read more
