This year the festivities are back and with a bang. The place was crowded but not overly crowded. The park had food trucks, music, entertainment and games for kids. This use to be one of the best fireworks. The fireworks are still good and one of the best in the area. The view is closes compared to other fireworks I have been to. This is the only time of the year I visit this park.

Water bowls and toys are available for dogs to play with. Nice atmosphere with great people. Park is kept clean and has a fire pit and a shed to shield from winter storms. Chairs to sit in as well.

If you run into a true Saratogian who grew up here, they will likely be able to tell you all about the features found in the park. If you're interested in staying directly in the park, the Gideon Putnam Resort and Spa is inside of the park to stay at! You can get a fantastic meal at the restaurant, enjoy the Victorian pool or even get spa treatments at the Roosevelt Baths. The golf course is also a great course at a reasonable price. The state park is also the home of a small production play theatre (directly behind SPAC). There is a famous amphitheater that you can always catch Dave Matthews at in the summer (Saratoga performing arts Center). If you're interested in natural healings, there are multiple springs (including one that tastes like normal water) that residents and visitors alike bring jugs to get fresh water at. The walking trails are wonderful and in some areas, there are mini waterfalls as well. In the winter, this park is great for cross country skiing. If you enter into the park and pay the entry fee, you can go to the Peerless pool which is gigantic! Quite a few pavilions you can also rent for reunions or large parties. One thing is for sure, there's usually somewhere for every type of person.

So the State Seal Spring is the marquee destination here, but for something worse-tasting but more unique the Geyser spring is within the same structure. Unfortunately the Charlie spring near the SPAC entrance wasn't flowing as of mid-December. The pine trees get five stars. I wish there were bathrooms available but that could be a seasonal thing. The park is technically reachable by bus but you might have to a wait a bit.

After having had teeth extracted twice, she wouldn't let us near her mouth to trim around it, plus we couldn't keep her extremely fine hair from being matted. During the move here from Seattle and getting settled, we basically gave up trying. She's home now from Chow Bella looking georgeous again. There's fresh water on site as well as bags for waste disposal. There's also a small dog park if you would rather have your little guys play with dogs their own size. It's well used, and your dog will be sure to find someone to play with. I take my dog there often, and it's always a positive experience. I've been to many parks, and this is definitely my favorite one. Rules are posted at the park, and park use tags are available at Kinderhook town hall.

Lots of ducks on site and they came up to us, as it seems they may be used to people feeding them. I didn't have anything to give them so they were curious for a moment and then let us be. Enjoyed the fountains and gardens on display. If you're brave try a sip of the mineral water.

Congress Park is beautiful year round. It's well maintained and just a lovely place to rest as well…read moreas walk around. It's very picturesque and it's located in downtown Saratoga Springs. It's pet friendly and a great place to come alone, or with friends and or family. Where else can you have a picnic as well as shop nearby? I also highly recommend stopping into the Saratoga History Museum located in the Canfield Casino right inside the park. It's a very interesting place to spend an hour or so. A must do when you're in town!!!
