My wife was part of a group that rented out a pavilion in this park recently. Of note, the parking…read moresituation is a bit unusual so follow the signs (which take precedence over common sense). There were two pavilions in the area and we had the one on the right, but the one on the left was being used by two different groups of people celebrating two different events. I don't know if either or both rented it, or if both showed up at the same time, but it looked like an awkward situation. The pavilion we rented had at least one electrical outlet good for a crock pot or stereo, but don't think there were many more. Next to it was a small barbecue grill that was about 18x24". It was big enough for a family gathering, but it couldn't possibly hold enough food for a crowded pavilion unless they were all eating hot dogs. We tried, and only got about 16 burgers on it at a time. A large garbage can with a bag liner was inside at the corner, but we were told that it was NOT for use by people who rent the pavilion (rental is carry in-carry out) but instead was for use by those who don't rent the pavilion. That must be a mistake as nobody would have such a stupid policy. Nearby was a nice kids playground, and all around us and mixed through the trees was a disc golf course. I should have brought my old Frisbee from college. I was told a creek also ran in the area. Bathrooms were within sight but I never ventured near them. All told, a decent place to rent.

This is a tiny little park just south of Route 9 and right off of Canal Road. There isn't much going for this park itself, though there are a couple of benches and a picnic table. You can see the Mohawk River and the wildlife along the coast. Where I think it has the potential to be nice is if you are grabbing food from one of the few nearby restaurants. Instead of eating it there, bring it here and enjoy a nice picnic meal in the sunshine while watching the water.

The Safari was good but the workers kept driving the animals away. The enclosures were... SMALL to say the least. The poor monkeys, no enrichment, small enclosures, the one had a wound on its tail. It took us probably 25 mins to get through the walking part. The little pigs had no water and when I asked the lady, she said they probably drank it all from this morning, well then give them more. Very disappointed.

This is a quiet local pocket park with a circular trail through the woods. Its swampy so the path…read moreis elevated slightly and made out of wood. The trail isn't long and can be easily walked in 30 mins or less. Due to the wet lands there are lots of mosquitoes even with the dry summer we've had. Its a small motivation to keep moving... the wood boards are slowly being replaced by the town but there were still a few that were wet/slippery or rotted out. I was hoping to make this a regular quiet walking spot with my dog and baby but its not worth it due to the mosquitoes and short trail. If you're looking for a quick relaxing walk through the woods this fall, I'm sure this place would be beautiful.

The bathrooms are a hot mess and dark (at least by campsites 1-30) and the showers are beat as well. Beach is nice, water is great, but the rules posted are not the rules they go by. Case in point, the paperwork said you can have two cars but check in says one, and charged our second car $10. I probably wouldn't return. Also the grate over the grill was too spaced and we couldn't put anything smallish on it and had to buy disposable grates.

I came to check out this new town park, and I will say I am glad CP citizens voted to create this…read morepark at this location instead of letting Shop Rite build a store here. Seeing how Shop Rite is now closing all of its stores in the Capital District north of Hudson, that decision looks to have been even better, since they would almost certainly be closing the one here too. Then we would be stuck with a big empty building and parking lot here, instead of a scenic pleasant park. It is still relatively new and there could be improvements. The accompanying nature center is under construction, and the paths to and from the parking lots could use a little landscaping, maybe some flowerbeds. Some historical monuments or outdoor sculptures would also be nice, provided they are not of the humongous abstract industrial metal type that consume the entire surrounding landscape with bleakness and desolation (like in Ossining, NY). A pavilion or rotunda might also be a good enhancement. It will be interesting to see what more the town might do with this park, but it is definitely a quality-of-life improvement for the townspeople.
