Never have much stock, and the last few times I've gone in there the shelves have been getting barer. Just wanted some basic painters tape and there was hardly any on the shelf. Wanted wallpaper paste today, oh they don't stock that!!! It's a hardware store for goodness sake. We came here to pick up some wood. We drove the truck into Rona and picked up wood from there. After loading the wood, we then went inside to pay. We stopped by the gate and they did a count on the wood that was purchased and off we went. Rona offer services and discounts to contractors. They even allow purchases on account. read more

For the smallest store in the Rona Family, the staff have been amazing. Putting up with ridiculous increases in customer traffic. At a time when people were supposed to be staying at home, the community of Cobble Hill all seemed to show up at Rona. I witnessed staff dealing with completely unreasonable customers and my hat is off to the entire team. read more

The worst hardware store bar none. Except for one single guy in customer service who knows something, all other staff is constantly turining over and knows not one thing about anythig. I'm trying to shop there for years. Nothing but problems there. The lumber is very poor quality and to me is labeled wrong. The 3& better 2x4s are only good for firewood. The 2 & better should be 3. Used to buy real good wooden sawhorses there. No longer available because they wouldn't pay the builder for 3 months. I've tried to buy from their flyers but much of it isn't available. They used to rent equipment but they wouldn't man the place. When you did find the person they knew almost nothing. The only reason they are still in business is because of their location. We had found the weed trimmer that we wanted in stock online at RONA Cobble Hill. There was only one left in stock at the store. We phoned to ask for it to be put aside for us. It was taking a while, and it was near closing time and the attendant who answered our phone call did not return our call as soon as we had expected, so we phoned again and a different attendant told us that the store was "swamped". So we decided to go to the store to get the trimmer in person as we thought that would be most effective. When we arrived, we discovered that the store was understaffed, but the staff that was there were extremely helpful: three dedicated staff members did their best to locate our trimmer! It took probably an hour since the original phone call to find it, they did not give up, and they eventually found it in an unexpected place in storage. So we give the staff high marks for customer service and dedication to the store. We are frequent customers at RONA Cobble Hill and we like that place and its staff. read more

We stopped by this Rona after being in a serious car accident the day prior. We were looking for a product they didn't stock but happened to have some for employee use. They kindly offered it to us to help temporarily patch up our window! What amazing kindness and service. We were very appreciative and would recommend this location to anyone living on the island. This is no doubt the absolute worst Home Improvement store there is in the area. I say worst, because the real worst was the one in Duncan BC which was closed down because people just could no longer stand the BS that went on there. So now this one, in Cobble Hill, is the worst. I try to avoid this place at all costs and usually only come here once or twice a year when I absolutely have to. Today, they did not disappoint, and had stacks of items with no price tag on it. Of course, to find an employee to price check it was near impossible. Three people working in the paint department, two girls flipping away on their iPhones updating their Facebook status couldn't be bothered until I actually called out to them. Although they price checked the item I was looking for, I suggested that maybe they might want to put a price sign on the two big huge displays of the item that I bought. They looked at me like I had horns growing out of my head. This is very typical for this store and nothing has ever changed. Customer service is non-existent, staff are more interested in playing with their phones than they are helping customers, and no one there has any product knowledge whatsoever. The tills are just as bad. Still have a bunch of employees standing around looking at each other with one till open with a lineup of 12 people. Avoid this terribly run store at all costs if you can. read more

It's become a parlour game in our area to try and come up with the worst (best) Rona bad service story. They always seem to find new and novel ways to disappoint, usually due to zero staff product knowledge. You can always count on slow service at the till. Yesterday there was a huge lineup and only one till open. She had a problem finding a price, not an uncommon problem, and it took forever.
