My sweetheart just couldn't pass by this garden centre even though I consider Rona more home than garden. Most of the store was closed to in-store shopping. You must order online and then wait for a pickup notification. I just needed an excuse to get out of the rain storm that was blowing it's way through the GTA. The visit was short as we motored our way through this Markham garden. That's the benefit of touring with a gardening expert! No problem with finding parking here. Wait for it..... Visited this location yesterday after being turned down by the Rona Markham store because no one was trained to work on their blinds cutting machine. Staff at this location are much more upbeat and willing to help, Alan was especially great, helped us promptly after taking care of his customers in the paint section. Though our blinds were not meant to be cut that short, he still went out of his way and gave it a try to make it work! Great experience overall, highly recommend this location over Markham! read more

This Rona at Midland and McNicoll always have ample parking and the items are all well stocked. You will find most of the day to day items for your home improvement or parts to fix things around the house. But if you want to just browse around and get some ideas for your house, I found it lack displays or models that will inspire you. Maybe with the limited in spaces? There are also not that many higher ends products if you looking for more than the basic stuffs. Staffs are a little indifference. No one offers any help for the whole time I was there. I was looking for something that apparently was not offered anywhere else but Rona - I tried Home Depot, Lowes and Home Hardware and eventually ended up here. The store itself is pretty big, like any typical home renovation store and seems to have a large selection. I cant comment on the staff too much as I just found what I needed and left. Overall it was a very decent experience, in and out and no frustration trying to find what I needed. I would come back again if destiny required me to! read more

Great place nearby that has just about everything a hardware guy needs. Their prices are reasonable but don't bother with the store brand paint, it sucks. (All local store brand paint is bad from all hardware stores FYI) The staff is friendly but only half know what they are talking about, the other half act like they know what they are talking about which is worse. I would stick to the people that work in the section you need help with, not with the random ones wandering around. read more

RONA on Midland has been my go to store for hardware and gardening supplies for more than 10 years. Associates at the Paint and Plumbing sections have always been helpful. The paint section has knowledgeable advisors and have steered me in the right direction several times. The associate attitude to customers has been consistently friendly and helpful, the manager sets the right tone as on occasion he has helped me. Prices are not always the lowest, however I will support a Canadian founded store , even if they are owned by Lowes. read more

Do NOT purchase appliances from Rona and specially this location. They just cannot honor their promise in terms of delivery schedule. I bought an LG washer and dryer from this store 3 weeks ago and they have delayed the delivery twice since then. They just keep calling me 2 days prior to the delivery date telling me the order was still on the back order and the delivery needs to be postponed. Summary: Rona does not seem to be able to fulfill their obligation to their customers in terms of delivery schedule. read more

Don't frequent this store much. Only come if I have to because the Rona nearest us is out of stock. This place is huge but there is never anybody about to help you. You go down each aisle and there's nobody to be found. Because I don't come here much, it's super hard to find anything. Today, I was at the contractors side looking at roof shingles. They are locked up in a gated area outside and you need an employee with a key to open up the metal gates for you. I found a guy, no prob, because he's in a little hut in the lumber part. He was helpful too. Funniest thing was the typo on the side of their rental van. Can nobody spell store correctly? Surely the people that put it on knew? What about the people at Rona? read more

This establishment should be embarrassed. I have been here a dozen times this year and each time is more pathetic then the last. Literally nothing good to say. I've just decided to start driving the extra 10 minutes to go to home depot. It took 45 min to have a door and 3 2x4s put in my truck, during a time that there were 5 guys in the warehouse, no one else was picking up orders, and I had to help load. Unless Rona is working with some special needs program they should be seriously embarrassed by their business organization and management abilities. read more

I went to this Rona store and first asked a Rona employee if I could get some help selecting the proper product. He seemed reluctant to help saying they did not carry the product I was looking for. Knowing full well they did carry the product because their website showed they carry it on the store (8 in stock), I asked for someone to confirm. The gentleman paged "electrical assistance" to meet me in aisleI8. Waited 5-10 minutes and no one came. I went to another lady asking the same assistance and the lady (named Lillian) who also paged for electrical assistance in aisles 8, but no one came. I went to the Lillian again and she paged again. Still no one came. We ended up finding the product ourselves. Their customer service is the worst. Keep your expectations low here people. read more

Without a word, she proceed to close the cashier and told her man friend (not to me) she is going on lunch. I emailed Rona about this incident, 10 days ago, no reply. I was at RONA on February 6, 2015 at ~7:30 pm and I completely regret the fact that I was ever there. I was in the area & decided that I'd pick some windshield wiper fluid up. Upon entering this store, there were absolutely no shopping carts in sight. As such, I proceeded to continue to go into the store. I mosied around the store & found an empty shopping cart in an aisle. When I proceeded to take it, a staff member informed me that he actually needed that cart. I then apologized and he told me that there were carts up at the entrance way. When I told him there weren't any, he didn't reply. Completely unhelpful. In any case, I then walked towards cashier and luckily, the windshield wiper fluid was there! However, bad news is, I wanted 8 jugs and my little 2 hands weren't able to carry them all. Another individual was there at the time but she's had back surgery in the past and really shouldn't be lifting anything remotely heavy. I then informed the cashier who then told me (again) that there were carts up front. I then told her (again) that there weren't any at the entranceway and I'd appreciate it if someone could help me carry these out. ~3 minutes later, a woman by the name of Georgina comes out huffing & puffing and snarkily says (AGAIN) that there are carts out front. At this point, I seriously wanted to scream at everyone but instead, I kept my cool and informed her that I couldn't see any up front. Before I could even finish my sentence about how I'd appreciate if she could help me, she grabs 2-3 jugs, rolls her eyes, shakes her head, and storms outside. As we were heading to my car, she must have noticed that there were in fact no carts at the entranceway and she then said in a completely unapologetic manner, "It was busy today so there wasn't time to restock the carts." The other individual with me then commented on how it wasn't actually that busy in the 15-20 minutes we were there and Georgina snapped, "WELL WE WERE THIS AFTERNOON." As I was opening the lock to my car, Georgina slammed my jugs of windshield wiper fluid down on the slush and then picked it up and slammed it into my trunk & stomped away. I then wished her a good night and with her tail in between her legs, she wished me a good night too. In retrospect, I really wish I had filmed this whole thing because Georgina's attitude was completely appalling. I am so disgusted with her rudeness because I work in a customer service industry where I'm expected to be professional and courteous at all times, whether or not I agree with the client. So if I'm expected to put on a good face at all times, I don't know why she felt like she could lash out on people. I get that people have bad days and maybe this one was a bad day for her; but as an employee who works in a customer service industry, I certainly know that if I was EVER this rude to ANY of my clients, I'd not only feel like the most horrible person in the world, but I'd get in some serious trouble for that. So a couple things in conclusion: a) It is NOT my job to be making sure that carts are well stocked at the entranceway. I really could care less if you guys were busy in the afternoon because I clearly came in the evening when there was no one. In that 15 minutes I was there, SOMEONE could have gone out and restocked the carts because there were seriously 5 customers walking around the store at that time. b) I get that it was a cold night and no one wanted to go outside but that is not an excuse to be rude about helping someone move their stuff out. An hour prior to going to RONA, my wonderful staff were helping my clients move 30 lb dog-food bags out to the parking lot into cars in that frigid weather with big smiles on their faces. My staff are clearly way more awesome than yours, RONA of Scarbs. c) Lastly, Georgina's heinous behaviour was completely unacceptable. Her eye rolling, huffing & puffing, and disgusting snarky comments completely ruined my night. While I never wish upon anyone to lose their job, I sincerely hope that management puts her through some SERIOUS, crash course remedial on how to deal with customers properly because she is in dire need of it. read more

Store is Big and well lit, just like any big box DIY warehouse. Which is all I can say about this place. But time after time felt disappointed for one reason or another. Last time I stepped in here about 10 yrs ago. That was when the Ontario Liberals slapped on the famous Environmental Fee on everything, then due to unpopularity they Retracted. However, Rona still secretly put it on the final invoice at the cash register. No warning. So my $7 items ended up billing me for $12!!! I brought it to the Manager's Attention and he argued it was "Phase 1" Environmental Tax which all store pays anyways. My arguement was the pricing was not transparent and the government announced they retracted the fees. What if I were to buy stuff from the store like ticket price worth $1000, they will charge $300 worth of unsuspected Environmental Fees? My belief is if an item is $1.00, then after tax should be $1.13. I shouldn't need second guess "Fees". I just care what the final total I pay. If there are fees, they should have someway to notify customer charges before hand. Long story short, the manager won't resolve by reimbusing the difference of $3.00 and I refunded my whole $12.00. It was not the $3, just the principle. Since then, haven't been back. Tonight I was around the area after dinner with friends and thought I needed a tool. Well Rona is nearby, why not give them a chance. After 10 yrs maybe things changed. So Saturday evening at 6:30 pm, place was pretty empty. I went to the tool section and after 15 mins of looking around (aside I find products pricier than another Big Box DIY stores), I can't find a staff member on sight. When finally someone came, another customer was with him. He made an effort of 5 secs to answer one of my questions yet he drifted off and disappeared with the customer. No other staff member on sight within 100 meters radius. Tired of waiting, I gaved up and left. I think to my self why I bother wasting 30 mins of time I never will get back. Now I know for sure where Not to go. In short, feeling overpriced and understaffed. I recommend if you want to buy anything, look elsewhere. read more

Pros: Ample parking Close to a starbucks and Popeye's chicken Cons: Really hard to find help If you're lucky enough to flag someone down, they are very reluctant to help (That's your job!) Poor customer service ( I doubt there's a manager at all times. There's no way there is someone overseeing the store). Very messy, dirty and unorganized Constantly out of stock on popular products I'm not writing this review after one experience. I live close to this store so I have been there multiple times. I have had multiple bad experiences and decided enough is enough. I have to travel a bit further, but I will now start going to the Home Depot on Warden and Ellesmere or the Lowes on Steeles and Markham road. Much better customer service and their inventory is always properly stocked at both these stores. read more

I agreed that this Rona store only deserves two stars just like other reviewers. I gave two stars because the staff initially helped me put the toilet onto the cart. I went to pay for it and forgot the caulk. So I went back to ask him where I can get the caulk. He pointed to me that it's at the same place where I got the toilet. So I went back to and looked for it. I looked for a good 10 minutes around the area. Couldn't find it so I called for assistance. The same person answered and said he is helping someone else. So I waited for another 10 minutes. He finally came and then he realized that I am looking for caulk; he thought I was looking for the line. I was quite upset since his can he got confused on the two items; they sound totally different; especially I drew a circle around the bottom of the toilet. This is perhaps the longest review I ever write, but this Rona personnel really deserves two stars. Other stores like Home Depot, they take you there and show you the item. read more

The worst store i have ever been to. I will never come back to this store and would rather drive the extra 15 minutes to home depot or lowes. I went in for a plumbing question from an employee named tommy law for advice for any suggestions on a leaky drain. He rudely told me that i wasnt a plumber and thats my problem. Then i tried to say something else and he cut me off repeatedly saying "thats it" no "thats it". I have never been so disrespected in my life as a customer. I dont understand because not everyone that goes into hardware stores are plumbers.. people like to do things themselves. Never again will i ever come back here. read more

Wow the return policy here is like going through US customs. They gave me a difficult time just to return a $40 item. As a contractor I buy frequently from Lowes and Home Depot and never have issues when it comes to refunds. I'm steering clear of Rona. Beware of their return or exchange policy. On sale clearance items cannot be return or exchange. I bought a backyard table set for half price. When I open the box at home, i found that the glass top was broken. I brought it back to Rona, but they said it cannot be exchanged or return because it is clearance item. This is unacceptable at all. What kind of policy is this. My investment was totally gone. Will never go back to shop again. Homedepot and Lowe's are much better in term of service and shopping policy and even price. If they keep setting up this stupid and unreasonable policy, they will end their business soon. They cannot compete with Homedepot and Lowe's at all. read more
