I don't know if I could sing Rona's praises high enough to fully capture the quality of her work, and the pleasure it was to deal with her. This is an exceptional human being, an artist, who cares deeply about the quality of her work. She put onto (gorgeous) paper a poem that I had written for my father on his 90th birthday. It is just beautiful and it will be a deeply meaningful gift for my dear old dad. The framer, who deals with fine art, was bowled over by her work and asked for her contact information. In this era, when everything is cranked out on a computer, what Rona does feels like a miracle. She's also a beautiful human being, with a heart and a soul, who knows literature and music--it was such fun to visit with her. I cannot recommend her highly enough. We were referred to Rona by Flax Art in SF from where we had bought a beautiful sheet of art paper (20x30"). Our vision was to have our initials and wedding reception date in calligraphy on the paper and have our reception guests sign it. We would then frame it and hang it in our home. I called Rona immediately since we were 3 weeks away from our event and she called me right back. We talked about what I was looking for and she told me her rate of $75/hr, which I think is very reasonable for what we needed. She also asked me to send photos of the art paper and a sketch of what I wanted. Rona said she could work on our calligraphy that weekend so we dropped off our art paper to her and waited to hear back from her. We picked it up the following week and it was beautiful. She left a lot of space for our guests to sign around our initials and after our first guest signed it, we realized just how challenging it must have been for Rona to do the calligraphy on the art paper. It is handmade from bark so has texture and is absorbent, and the gold paint is not easy to mark over. Our archival and non-smearing ink pens did not write over the gold paint on the paper but it turned out fine. Thank you again Rona. Wow, Rona is a great resource for anyone who needs quality calligraphy done. In our case, it was for our wedding invitations. We had to have over 150 invitations done...in gold on a metallic cappuccino paper stock. I thought for sure this would be a problem, but Rona didn't have any issues with it at all. She gave us her guidance as to what type of calligraphy would work best with what we were doing, and she cranked out all of them in such a surprisingly short time. THEY LOOK AMAZING!!! She made changes and additions to the invitation for us too. Her price was right, she was very pleasant to deal with, and the finished product was outstanding! Pros: Friendly, fast, convenient and reasonable prices. Cons: Need to recheck all work, and not that organized. I hired Rona to write names on menu cards, escort cards and for our tables after she did a beautiful job for my brother's wedding. She was very easy to talk to and nice. However, you do need to recheck her work as she made 3 mistakes (out of my 102 person list) for escort cards and table names and used the wrong name list for our menu cards. Rona apologized for the menu cards, she had overlooked that list and did not charge me for those, but I still had to do a rush order on new cards and was down $50. More importantly, it was stressful 2 weeks before my wedding. So while I think she does a fine job, make sure to check all the names (got a Johnson instead of Jordan for example and a plural instead of singular for a table name) and allow time for redos. In the end, the calligraphy itself was a bit spotty (some random squiggles), but passable. read more

I found Rona on Yelp for my wedding invitations. I wanted a special color ink to match my invitations. When I brought my envelopes in, she explained to me that the envelopes had a sheen and special coating, and that the ink would not dry. Needless to say, I was disappointed at first. So, we decided it was best to use the black ink so it would dry well. After a few days, she called me to let me know the envelopes were done. When I opened the box to look at the envelopes, lo and behold! They were in the purple ink that I wanted. I was so surprised and delighted! I could not believe it! Rona went out of her way to look for a pen with the right color ink that matched my invitations....and it did not smear at all ! I received so many compliments . Rona is a great artist.
