They have an area in the back that has so many different balls of yarn colors to choose from and different shades of each color too. You set up a sheet onto a wooden frame and first draw out your design, then tuft onto it with the rug tufting gun. Once you get used to it, you can go decently fast. The large canvas bags are put together with jean material, fabric from Mexico, hand-sewn flowers, hand-painted flowers and images of Frida. There are many gift ideas. Jason had quoted a quick turnaround - 2 weeks for a logo re-design and a total of 6 weeks for the web site to go live. 1/31/2023 - received a quote from Jason at Voco Design 2/1/2023 - I accepted the quote and paid my 50% deposit 2/9/2023 - logo re-design delivered and accepted 3/8/2023 - web site mock ups delivered and accepted 4/12/2023 - invoiced for remaining 50% and paid it The following steps is when everything broke down Between May and June of 2023, either myself or Jason was out of town/country, so we could not finalize. 8/2/2023 - Jason requested access to my web hosting server to start uploading. I have not seen any changes to my web site at all. Since then, I have not been able to get a commitment from Jason or his team. Jason has sent me messages saying he was out of town, medical emergencies, etc which I can totally understand and was willing to wait for him. I had called his office and Tom had responded to look into it, but I have now been ignored by Tom as well. As of 2/1/2024 (one year later!!), I have sent an email to Jason and Tom to just close the project. They can refund me some portion of my 100% paid job, but they have not responded. I have changed the password to my web hosting as a precaution. I am willing to call this a loss and mark it as a lesson learned working with design companies. Maybe my company was too small for them, but seems my money was good enough for them

The day before I was supposed to pick it up, they called me and told me they had "lost" my stole. Instead of taking accountability, they told me to go buy another stole myself and that they would embroider the replacement "on the spot." I ended up taking time off work trying to deal with this mess, and to make things worse, I could barely even get ahold of the store while trying to figure out what was going on. When I asked if they could at least reimburse me for losing my stole, they told me they couldn't because they were "no longer making a profit" off my order. There was little to no apology, no urgency, and absolutely no professionalism. Then after all the back and forth, they suddenly "found" my stole and told me to come pick it up at 5:30. It became pretty obvious that they never actually lost it -- they just lied about it to buy themselves more time. This was one of the most stressful customer service experiences I've had, especially considering this was for a major life event. Really shitty service. I would not recommend trusting them with anything important or time-sensitive.

There are different designs with Chinese art and calligraphy for the lunar new year, birthdays, births, and weddings. To save time, I purchase a lot of stationery with the all-occasion good fortune "fú" character, 福, on it. After being scammed (and embarrassed) twice with gift cards from Safeway that I found out later did not work, I've switched to giving red envelopes instead. Okay, this place is loaded with a wide range of red money envelopes for Chinese New Year, weddings, birthdays and for any other happy occasion. It's wall to wall with a gazillion of red money envelopes on shelves and tables. The Chinese banners hanging on the wall are beautiful. Female employee finally appears when my sister is ready to pay for the items she has selected. It's cash only for purchases. The only drawback - the aisles are narrow. It can be difficult to maneuver around if there are 10 or more people browsing and shopping at the same time.

We were able to create a perfect plan - utilizes some of Smock's templates and Linda's graphic designer. Linda helped me to make decisions that would allow me to stay in budget - for example she recommended not doing an envelope liner as it looks cool but most people won't notice it. We worked with a graphic designer of Linda's to design our own art deco wedding logo which we used on all our materials and on a tote bag as the thank you gift. We printed the save-the-dates and the invitations with Smock, and did digital printing for the rest. Talking to Linda in-person or over email was always great. Searching online and locally for well-designed, quality invitations, custom or mass produced was a time consuming and difficult task. I scoured hundreds of images and found myself reluctantly flipping through card store catalogues, in hopes of finding something that would delight and also save me from becoming a graphic designer again. I've always respected and admired letterpress printing for being one of the finest (and most expensive), traditional, printing techniques reserved for very special events. Our wedding was a time to bite the bullet and go letterpress. In SF, "retro" looking designs were more readily available as a letterpress option, which wasn't our first choice, but we were open to it. TWICE, I called a pretty well-Yelped reviewed stationery studio that offered these looks, but they did NOT return my voice mail the first time. The second try, I wanted to see if they would allow me to browse their selections within that day (called in the morning on a Wednesday), granted it was last minute, but still, it was a no go. Parked in my car, with no invitation resources to head to, I Googled "letterpress, wedding invitation, san francisco" ... up popped "Burns & Associates". I called them on the spot and they welcomed me to come by anytime! I drove over to the Laurel Village area, within a residential street, walked through a little alleyway between homes and entered their lovely studio. I was greeted warmly, like a friend, by Jamie. She offered me a seat and had already pulled aside some catalogues and samples of the most beautifully designed letterpressed invitation suites. I was IN LOVE. I mean, I LOVED everything she showed me ... I tell ya, it was so refreshing after flipping through pages of mediocre designs at the other mainstream card shops. Immediately, we got our order underway. The entire process and our service from Burns was professional, and wonderful. We were not a number somewhere. Our invitations were the best I've seen. I have a small, 18-pg. booklet that was made for me over 20 years ago -- so old that the file was in PageMaker! But the booklet has important family significance, so I wanted to make copies for my upcoming cousins' reunion dinner in Portland. Assuming that my file was useless, I thought I could at least have flat photocopies made. I could have gone to one of the chains, but ever since the pandemic, I've made it a point to keep my business needs -- not to mention my dollars -- local, because it's been sad to see many local businesses fail after Covid struck the city so badly. And as a long-time resident, San Francisco's financial health is important to me. Well there's a reason Ibarra Brothers Printing has been around for 40 years. And that reason is that they wrote the book on customer service. Jose patiently spent quite a bit of time with my old file. And as we sat at his computer, he ingeniously found a way to convert PageMaker to an updated printable version. The fonts and other formatting issues did not translate in the transition, but Jose took the time to manually and perfectly match the original. I'm pretty sure FedEx Office would have taken one look at my job and said NO WAY! I went into Ibarra Brothers on a Friday. Jose sent me two proofs over the weekend with just minor changes. I couldn't believe it when on Monday morning, I received an email saying that my booklets were ready! Not only did Jose and his team do a fantastic job of recreating my booklets, but they even made an extra copy and then give me a UBS with the new file on it. I can't tell you how thrilled I am with the incredible customer service, attention to detail, reasonable price, quality of printing, and super-speedy completion. On top of all that, Jose Ibarra is a very nice and kind man. People! Please keep your money local! And when you need something printed, please go to Ibarra Brothers. I guarantee you will be as happy as I am.

Was in a bit of a bind with some prints - ordered prints that were too big for the frames I bought…read more Got a quote for resizing to be about 100 each and was shocked! Ended up being recommended to check out Ibarra and had a memorable visit. Jose helped me out and was an absolute delight. I shared my problem and with no questions asked, started working on the problem. After resizing the prints perfectly, I was charged 4 bucks for each print resized (he even offered to charge me less, but I refused to pay less). An extremely pleasant experience that made my day!
