Some didn't even know when I was denied! From the time I signed up with Cavanaugh to the date of approval with Social Security, it was only 2 months! They spoke to social security the same day I consented to them being my lawyer and helped me remove my previous lawyer from my case! (I couldn't even reach the previous lawyer). I had been going through disability denials and appeals for years. Everyone prior to Cavanaugh was completely inept. In my experience, it is rare that the process only took 2 months. Cavanaugh fought for me to receive the maximum back pay. Yes, they receive a % of it, but in my opinion, it is well-deserved! I even received my back pay within that 2 month period! Don't expect it to be only 2 months in other cases, but once you have submitted your information to Cavanaugh, you can rest assured that they are all doing their jobs! An employer had apparently bungled badly (if not worse) in a situation, involving a disability on my part that led to temporary problems, in which I was involuntarily dismissed. We discussed options frankly and discussed what was possible under my budgetary capabilities, and came up with a plan whereby I would address the employer proposing a rehire (since my manager and I were very close) and if that was denied from the company organs, who had bungled, then I would take "the other step." I appreciate the willingness to do that, because it is the moral and ethical way to go. Sometimes lawyers get a reputation for merely being "sharks" but this is not always fair. Used correctly and with conscience and with all reasonable steps taken first under advice, they can be an invaluable resource. They can give you confidence to try to do the better thing, knowing that competent backup is present in case that falls through.

This firm's attorney violated the Consumer Review Fairness Act when I was sent a 'contract' to sign before I would get money owed to me. The 'contract' specified this would be strictly confidential IF I removed truthful postings on Facebook. Only IF the terms were acceptable to their client and myself would I enter into an agreement for money owed to me. The Consumer Review Fairness Act is a Federal law and their 'contract' clearly violated my rights to post honest remarks on Facebook. To go a step further, since money IS involved, money that is due to me from the owner of the moving company, this is a threat by this firm's attorney and could be seen as extortion. I informed the firm's attorney of the federal law he and his firm violated. I received notice he no longer was at the firm. I was referred to another attorney at the firm. Then a third attorney contacted me with a 'revised contract' to sign. This was revised to keep me from suing the moving company. Removed was all demands to remove any Facebook postings. I have taken this from small claims to District Court. I have spoken to Federal agencies that have informed me the law firm can also be held responsible for violating the Consumer Review Fairness Act when they are representing this client and allowing two of their attorneys to restrict money owed to me unless I sign their 'contracts'.
