Our kitty needed to have a large cyst removed from above her eye so we made our appt. and met Dr. Finch for the first time. This man was so caring and gentle with our cat answered all our questions and let us know that because of the location of the cyst the surgery could be tricky, but he felt all would go well. We set an appt. for her surgery and picked her up the same day. We had to bring her back in a week to be checked and all went so well. I will tell you that the Acacia Animal Clinic is not one of the high tec vet clinics that there are an abundance of, it is a small practice with small rooms, but is clean and everyone there from the initial greeting from the receptionist to the doctors assistant and Dr. Finch himself were just the nicest people you would want to deal with. His prices are more then fair and you can just tell he cares about your pet. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Finch to anyone who is in need of a vet for a new pet or looking to change because you are not happy where you are. I am so glad we found him. With Florida's rainy season upon us, it brings nasty. dreaded Bufo frog season! Yesterday evening…read moreat dusk, our 24-month-old puppy, Gracie, decided a Bufo frog was a good playmate! She came in the house frantically shaking her head as if her muzzle had been stung by bees. Mouth foaming was next followed by vomiting up her dinner and staggering. As the Emergency Vet put it, "She acted like she was drunk". IMMEDIATE ACTION is necessary to save your pet!! Internet advice claims attention must be done within 15 minutes!! Use a wet washcloth to carefully wash out your pets mouth and gums-rise the washcloth thoroughly between washings -we used 3 washcloths to be sure they were clean of Bufo toxins. Do NOT use a hose to wash out their mouths or allow them to drink water as this could force the toxins into their lungs and cause mortal aspiration! Then rush them to your closest Vet ER!! We bat outta hell'ed it to The VETERINARY MEDICAL CENTER OF ST. LUCIE COUNTY on US1 south of Prima Vista! Open 24 hours a day!! I cannot celebrate enough the fast actions and important care they took with our Gracie! Her vitals looked good (quick actions are imperative!!) but they had us stay for an additional 30 minutes to be certain she didn't have a delayed seizure, which, incidentally, they could have treated with medication. The Vet Med Center sent us home- then amazingly refused to charge anything for their remarkable care as the Vet herself didn't need to address our dog's problem. Huge shout out to the Veterinarian Medical Center of St. Lucie County! While I'm at it- Be sure and protect your pets from Leptospirosis! The inoculations are NOT 100% so it's important to be sure your pets are not eating or drinking anything an infected rodent might have helped themselves to, as in puddles or standing water. It's not a bad idea to keep them indoors at night (Although, as we found out, dusk can be dangerous, too!)! Keep your pets safe! After all, they're cherished family members! The Vet Medical Center is open 24/7. Their number is: (772) 919-8049. Web site: https://www.vetmedcenterslc.com

This post is incredibly painful for me to write, but I feel it is important to share. I want other…read morepet owners to carefully consider whether Dr. Adams and Midway Veterinary are the right choice for their pet's medical care before trusting them with a loved member of their family. My family is new to the area and we were highly recommended to Dr. Adams through a friend of his. We brought our 10-year-old dog in for a mass removal surgery. Shortly after the procedure, he developed panting, shaking, and a fever, so we brought him back to the office to be evaluated. Despite these symptoms in a senior post-operative patient, no diagnostic workup was performed -- no blood work, no X-rays -- and we were told to simply monitor him at home. Later that afternoon, I contacted the office again because he had worsened significantly. He was breathing heavily, refusing water, and still not improving. Once again, we were advised to continue monitoring him overnight and wait until the next day for blood work. That evening, his condition became critical and we rushed him to an emergency veterinary hospital, where he was diagnosed with bacterial pneumonia. After fighting for over 48 hours, he passed away. When I later asked Dr. Adams and the staff direct questions about why no diagnostics or treatment were done earlier that morning, I never received clear answers. The practice manager, Ashley, stated the matter had already been discussed and declined to provide further explanation. To this day, after asking multiple times, we still have not received a medical explanation for why a 10-year-old dog showing a fever, heavy breathing, and shaking after surgery was sent home without further testing. My dog was also administered a rabies vaccine while under anesthesia. We were never informed of possible risks or side effects, and I later discovered the vaccine manufacturer recommends waiting 2-3 weeks after anesthesia, especially in older dogs. Had we been informed of that recommendation beforehand, we would have declined the vaccine at that time. Additionally, antibiotics were originally listed on the surgical estimate but were ultimately not prescribed. I only discovered this after reviewing the final bill. When I asked why, I was told by Dr. Adams he "didn't think they were necessary." Since this happened, I have spoken with other veterinary professionals, including certified vet techs and staff at other hospitals, who agreed my dog should have received a more thorough workup when he returned with those symptoms after surgery. In my opinion, my dog's symptoms were not taken seriously enough, and the lack of urgency, communication, and proper evaluation cost him valuable time and ultimately cost him his life. I trusted this office with my dog, and I truly wish I never had.

I'm giving two out of five stars for a few reasons…read more Dr. Wade does seem capable and knowledgable and she clearly has a passion for animals. That said, her time management could definitely use some improvement. I scheduled our first appointment, and the day before, I was asked to move it up an hour, which I agreed to. Then, on the day of the appointment, there was another request to switch back to the original time. I held back my frustration, as although I agreed, I was forced to rearrange our calendar at short notice. Regarding our second visit; shortly after confirming the 10:30AM appointment, I received a text asking if she could come an hour earlier, as she was apparently trying to accommodate another client. I agreed, but then received another text shortly thereafter asking us to return to the original time of 10:30AM. Honestly, it feels like there's a perception that people don't have busy lives and that the onus is on the client to accommodate her other patients. It's inconvenient and causes difficulties for people. The next morning Dr. Wade showed up at 9:15AM, 75 minutes early, insisting that leaving an unanswered voicemail and text justifies disregarding our scheduled appointment time. I turn my phone off at night so I did not get her communications; meaning that she got no affirmation that that would be okay with us. Dr Wade claimed that her patients appreciate it when she arrives early. Ten or 15 minutes might be okay, but I am confident that most people do not think that showing up early an hour and a half plus in the AM is acceptable. It wouldn't have stuck in my craw so much however, when I attempted another honest discussion with her regarding this issue, instead of accepting responsibility, Dr. Wade claimed that perhaps I was confused with another veterinarian who services our area. I had to acknowledge to myself what I was dealing with and quickly lost all confidence in her willingness to address the situation honestly. Humility is a virtue and I sincerely hope that that once Dr. Wade is a bit more seasoned, she might realize the importance of being more considerate towards clients in that aspect of her business. In any case, this is the second time (out of two visits) that the scheduling has inconvenienced us and that really isn't conducive to a good client/doctor relationship in my opinion. Another concerning issue is that Dr Wade insists that you order medications from an online pharmacy that is directly linked to her website. Not surprisingly, the pricing is significantly higher than regular avenues like Chewy, Costco, CVS and even our own compounding pharmacy. Further, there is a required $19.95 "expedited 3 business day delivery fee". This is another problematic hoop to jump through. Because of the exorbitant pricing, I had to insist that she call in the script to my preferred pharmacy. She did, but with the following text message, which I found to be dismissive and brash: "We just got your text. We were closed New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. We got Chewy's email. We'll give a verbal approval this one time." I will say that Dr. Wade seems up-to-date on testing, treatments, and studies related to pet care, which we did appreciate, but her platform just isn't the right fit for us. I would suggest contacting Midway Veterinary, Dr. Holland has been in the business for 40 years, the office is very accommodating and the staff is fantastic.
