Big Bear Auction Company - Big Bear Auctions

Big Bear Auction Company

DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR BUSINESS, THEY ARE THIEVES! I am writing this review to hopefully…read moredeter future customers from making the same mistake my family did. My grandmother passed away in early September of last year. In an effort to liquidate the items of the estate, my family hired BBA to come in and help. They were very well organized & helped to advertise the sale on their website & via Facebook. On the day of the auction, items NOT intended to be sold, were in fact SOLD! A 30 year old grandfather clock that belonged to my mother was sold without her consent, and she was told the proceeds from the sale of the clock would be going into the estate.. not to her directly despite it NOT being apart of the sale. The man in charge, I can't recall his name (Larry maybe?), was as insensitive as they come & couldn't have cared less about the situation. It was clear it was only about the bottom dollar. After everything was said and done, and BBA packed up and left.. we realized we were missing about 6 clothing racks & shelving units on top of a couple of fold-up tables. They straight up STOLE THEM when they left! Several calls later & we are being ignored. I also want to point out that I saw the itemized "list" for the items sold. The listed items themselves hold no description or specific detail of just what was sold. "Lamp", "chair", "vase", etc are all pretty vague answers. WHICH lamp? WHAT chair? WHAT lamp was sold for that price? It seems very shady & evasive. The attorney general has been contacted, as well as the BBB. It is not right that this company takes advantage of people, especially those vulnerable after suffering such a devastating loss. I would 1000% recommend ANYONE else!!

The Big Bear Auction staff with Jerry Glassman and crew did an excellent job with my mom's farm…read moreauction. She had a variety of items to sell, including household furniture, collector's items, shop tools and supplies, farm equipment, lawn and garden equipment as well as a car and a pickup. The staff was very helpful during preparation and on auction day. Their professionalism was evident at all stages in the process. I can't imagine the auction having gone any better than it did. I would absolutely recommend Big Bear Auction Company to others. Tom Jackson

Kraft Auction Service - Conrad Kraft selling at the Skinner Mansion auction in Merrillville, Indiana, on June 29, 2013.

I have bought tons of items from Kraft auctions. I'm not sure why all the low reviews as I've had…read moregood customer service every time I've bought items. I buy locally as I'm close to their headquarters and remote locations. I have bought guns, air compressors, battery chargers, torpedo heaters, mini fridges, etc. I will say that every once and a while you will get a dud item. I bought a shop vac that was junk. I wish they'd test all the items or specify if they do not work, but the other shop vac I bought was brand new (scratch and dent). It was more of the sellers fault then Kraft. I will continue to buy from them as a lot of the stuff is new and has a dent or a damaged box. Just take your time and look at the pictures and read the descriptions carefully.

I won an on-line auction for an item offered by Kraft Auction Service. As others have noted,…read moreshipping costs are high. When I received the item it was not as described, unsafe to use, and had an clearly visible area of alteration was not mentioned or depicted in the photos. I tried to work with the auction house and used the LiveAuctioneers' mediation service without success. I am disputing the charges with my credit card company. I also filed complaints with the Indiana Attorney General's office (free) and the Northern Indiana BBB (also free). Small claims court is not an option, as I am out of state. My takeaways are these: I will not bid on an item I can't physically inspect and pickup myself. I have also discovered that the buyer's premiums for auctions local to me are in the 10-15% range, a much better deal.
