Ron does a great job. Last month we purchased some art to decorate our house. Ron's shop is conveniently located near Freeport and Fruitridge. Ron is such a friendly guy and it was a pleasure to work with him. He measured each piece carefully and his framing suggestions were spot on. His prices are not cheap, but they are fair. It is very reasonable to pay for quality work. Ron advised us with an approximate date they would be ready and explained why there would be a delay (he was out of town). We picked up our pieces this week and each piece looks great. We are very happy with the work and we want to encourage others to contact him for your framing needs. read more

I am very happy I found and used this small family business! I needed a canvas cross stitch piece stretched and framed for a present and it was my first time getting this kind of service done. Ron gave me excellent and personal customer service. He listened to my intent and ideas but also provided his professional expertise to create a lovely final product. I appreciated the transparency in pricing and options available. I also really liked that he was very knowledgeable about how to handle embroidery pieces and knew to not use glue! Turn around time was about 2 weeks and I paid (happily) about 200, though prices vary on frame and matting/glass options. I am very happy with my finished piece and will be using/recommending Ron for any future frame needs. Side note: I also enjoyed Ron's friendly attitude and stories. Say no to Michael's custom framing or any frame shop because Ron's Frame Shop is the only place to get the job done right! Brought in my HUGE 80 by 50 Community TV Series Flag/Prop and it was no problem for Ron. He took great care of this piece that means a whole lot to me and quite expensive. I was in the market for a frame shop that could frame 9 of my band posters that I had been carefully collecting and storing for (literally) 10 years. I wanted my art to be in good hands! After perusing the internet I came across Ron's Frame Shop on Yelp. A few messages back and forth and I decided to come in. Both Ron and his wife handle the shop and they are both kind and welcoming. They both made the process of finding a proper frame easy and Ron is very gentle with your art when handling it. He gave recommendations on which frame suited which piece the best and the differences between the types of glass you can use. I decided to go with museum quality and while expensive, I know will last me a lifetime! My framed posters are now up in my apartment and look amazing - they're also great conversation starters! The location was a bit confusing to find but the parking lot is pretty reasonable and I never had trouble finding parking in the multiple trips I made there. 10/10 awesome service and would definitely recommend if you're trying to get anything framed! Yen Ning Tong, aka Ron's Frame Shop, is a small independent business that can help you beautifully frame any piece of artwork and leave you smiling afterwards. Ron will take the time to discuss what the best options are available, and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the quote estimate...especially if you're used to the pricing at other shops in town. It's a little hard to find, initially,if you are looking at the intersection of Freeport and Fruitridge. They are located in the back side of the strip mall on the Southeast corner, next to T. Found Ron's on Yelp after a bit of searching. Had some artwork framed at his shop and the results were fantastic. Ron is just the nicest guy! I came in to get something framed and he gave us great suggestions and patiently waited while we mulled over which way to go. Then, instead of pushing the sale, he wrote down the exact measurements of our piece on a piece of paper and told us to call around town to get other estimates. I was very impressed by this and decided to use his services without talking to other frame businesses. About two weeks later we picked up our piece and we were very happy with the results. I've used Ron for all my framing. He's really good at listening and finding the right colors and frames for art. You can tell he's really experienced. Super duper nice guy too. His turnaround time is really fast considering that he doesn't have a lot of help. His prices are very reasonable and he gives discounts for returning customers. Ron is super thoughtful and awesome to work with. I got a couple of my brother's paintings framed and he helped me pick out a fame for a very bold orange piece. Once we had those picked out, he had it all set for 2 weeks for pickup. Turns out, one of the frames were discontinued. So he called me up, asked if I wanted to come on in and pick another frame out. He still had it done within the timeframe as promised. He actually even saved the bit of painting that I had him chop off because of a blemish. I didn't want it, but it was a nice gesture. Cheaper than most places, and great customer service. I highly recommend. read more

What can I say... Ron is the BEST! If you need any sort of customs framing job for your precious prints/pictures, you have to visit Ron. He has hands-down the best prices you can get from a custom frame job. And the quality of his work is superb. Ron will take you through the whole customization process and will ask what you like, and will also provide his expert eyes as to what frames will go well with the picture. It's rare to find a small locally owned business that takes so much pride and care in what they do. I had three Chinese water color artwork that my uncle drew that I wanted to frame. The place that popped into my mind was Yen Ning Tong in Land Park. I came to this store as a kid when my mom visited the herbalist. I knew the business had switched hands, but was glad to find Ron was still running the frame shop. He took care of my art and explained in detail what was the best way to frame it. He gave me matting and frame suggestions and spent the time to show me what would look best. I agreed with his recommendation on museum glass to bring out the details of the art and protection from uv. He did an awesome job. If you are like me, you are probably reading reviews on possible frame shops. After doing extensive research, I decided to visit Ron in person to see what he could do. I was delighted to be greeted by him as I walked into the store and we began getting to know each other. He picked a few frames, and suggested what he thought would look best on my poster. His explanation and attention to detail immediately revealed to me that framing for him is not just a profession, but an art! We agreed on a price and I returned two weeks later. I've invested thousand of dollars in photo equipment shooting youth sports over the years. It's great to be able to shoot and print high quality actions shots but you have to be able to showcase these great photos of these kids in action properly. In the past, I've taken my large prints to either Michael's or Aaron Brothers for framing service. Lots of these types of stores use computer aided framing machines to make the cuts. Nothing wrong with this but you have to remember you as the consumer pay quite a sum toward the overhead involved in producing your framed photo. Ron is a one person shop using the old school methods of cutting and framing manually. It's a human art form over machine. There is never any upselling from Ron like chain framing shops. This owner is more proud of his work to produce for you an outstanding framed print of your memories than making a lot of money. Support your small business person! read more

Meet the Business Owner: Ronald Y. F.

Ronald Fong is the owner of Yen Ning Tong "You Bring It We Frame It". Honest and excellence are his two main virtues when working with customers. Living in Sacramento for all of his life, except for a 6 year stint in Hong Kong, Ronald believes in giving back to the community as best as he can and considers it to be the most important way business thrives. Ever since he quit his position as a stock trader at Cal Fed, because of increased stress Ronald required a life that was more hands on. A friend suggested Artistic Edge, and the rest is history. Jessica spent the best part of an hour with me going over all the various possibilities. She acted like I was the only person of importance throughout all of this back-and-forth as I changed my mind over and over. Finally I was ready, and she said that it would be ready by X amount of time --- probably a bit sooner. Off I went. WEEKS before the date promised Kathy called and said the artwork was ready. When I arrived and saw it displayed I cried --- it was exactly what I wanted and ever so much more! Kathy talked to me --- and LISTENED --- as though I was the most important person in the world at that moment --- I told her all about who made the sticker card artwork and when and why, and she just listened and smiled and chatted and was wonderful. I took my artwork home, hung it up, and took pictures for all the sticker artists to enjoy. Everything has come out perfectly! We couldn't have been happier, starting with her initial analysis along with the painstaking care that brought our 29" x 36" heirloom oil painting back to life. The painting had hung in my parent's dining room for many years and before that it was in my grandparents' and great grandparents' homes in the Chicago area. On initial inspection, Stella told us that the last restoration had been botched and that the framed painting had been improperly mounted on Masonite. She detailed the restoration process and gave us two options -- full or partial restoration -- with two different price tags. We chose the full restoration. She sent us photos as the restoration progressed so we could see how much of a difference this would make. Now, 3 months later, we have our beloved painting back in our home. We're seeing detail and colors that we never knew existed. And best of all, the final price was exactly what she had quoted to us. Stella is a real pro!

When I picked them up I couldn't believe my eyes. The picture of my Grandfather, (which was almost torn in half and is the only known picture of him in our family)was nearly pristine! R&B Framing was the only company which showed up to take a look at the steps. Two days later, Jose Cedillo emailed me an estimate and thoroughly answered my questions. His company uses Redwood or cedar wood for Victorian homes, though cedar does cost extra. We were surprised by how fast his crew finished the job. They showed up on April 9th, early in the morning and worked until the evening. They arrived the next day to finish the rest of the steps and the banisters. He also painted the banisters according to the original white creme color. If it's a legacy house, they'll stick to the originality of the Victorian architecture. (Per building code regulations, when a house is considered a legacy house the paint must be the original--or close to the original color--of when the house was first built.)

All boards were stained on all sides prior to construction and protective tape was applied to the substructure so that there was no wood to wood contact. To the owner: if you don't want customers touching merchandise, that's completely understandable--but then clearly post signs asking people not to handle items without assistance. Don't assume people know your process, and definitely don't talk down to them when they make a simple mistake. Your behavior was unprofessional, and it ruined what should have been a simple, pleasant shopping experience. We won't be returning, and we sincerely hope others are treated with more basic courtesy and respect than we were.

I brought in a mural that I needed to be able to transport in a regular car so that I could show it in my art shows and Renee built a custom structure of support for it and stretch the canvas in a way that I could fold it in half and then unfold it and hang it and it just has a beautiful form that finishes my own work with a sense of authenticity that feels really good after I have put in the blood sweat and tears to make my own original art. I have also brought in such things like two sided sketches by well-known artists and ask Rene if he could create a way to frame a two sided sketch so that I could display both sides. I had my own idea about how to do that and after I tested it and with Rene's wisdom I could see that my idea was not going to work. Thankfully he had a backup idea that is way better and that's a beautiful thing. I also have brought in smaller original artworks that he was able to frame a series of so that there's a sense of unity when I display it on my wall and it really brings out the gorgeous shades of pencil sketches black-and-white photographs and signed numbered prints that are in this series. I'm really impressed with the work that Rene and his family do. They're very validating, inspirational people.

Within a week we met him, loved his design, and with his expert and artistic guidance choose specific glass types and colors. His review mentioned an update of a photo but it was never updated. We will never now how successful his "unsuccessful endeavor" was.) I dropped in on a weekday after work and was greeted by Mickey and asked how I could be helped. I explained I was interested in getting stained glass for 3 of my windows and he asked the appropriate size, height location and what style I was looking for. Said I had an idea but asked to see photos of his work. Now, what I think some people overlook when commissioning custom work from an artist is that artist have personality and style. It isn't likely that you can get them to do exactly what you want if it's outside their artistic style. This is why you you should view their portfolio. Don't go in demanding things be done your way - Remember this is craftsman, not a Starbucks barista. Mickey presented me with a half dozen binders filled with images of his work. As I was flipping through them he explained his process of coming out to take measurements and get a feel for the home and the light. He explained it's a collaborative process for us to work together for a design. Once that's agreed upon, I can pick out the glass and from there it will be a quick turnaround. I pointed out a few pictures from the binders of the style I liked and we discussed more details about color and glass texture. Based on the size, complexity and travel distance from the shop, I was quoted a reasonable price considering my recent internet search on Ebay, Etsy and Amazon for pieces relative to size. Mickey was prompt with all appointments and I'm very happy with the finished work. I highly recommend Mickey for custom stained glass.
