Martin is all business and no BS. He cuts to the chase about what he is able to do and warranty. All the other roofers wanted to tear up and replace the whole roof, including shingles portion, at a significant price point, but Martin was able to work with just the flat roof portion. For best protection, and seeing as how several have tried to patch, he recommended a torch down of a new layer. We've only had a little bit of rain since he did that (super punctual early bird for 2 days) but I have not seen any additional leaks so far. While he was up there, he noticed that our skylight flashing was also compromised (which we already knew from home inspections but most roofers said it was still ok). But I'd rather not have the anxiety of that hanging over my head and since he was reasonable and efficient (most roofers have months long waits), I would wanted him to do the repair there too. The repair must have been more complicated than he thought (he said the previous work was 'weird') because he spent a half day up there, but I'm glad he took his time to do it right. The peace of mind since then has been invaluable as I was losing sleep and my temper over each and every rain. Anyway, in the end, due to the nature of the crappy bitumen from our old flat roof, there were bits everywhere in our yard, but I honestly expected that no matter who was working on it. His 1. I called yesterday and asked if someone could come to my two-story house in Redondo Beach. Martin said that he had a job in the area and that he would call me when he could. This morning, Martin called as promised and came by within 30 minutes. He climbed up to the roof and found the 8 cracked tiles that were broken during the termite tenting we did several months ago. Within an hour Martin had gone to supply depot, picked up the replacement tiles and repaired as he promised. And the cost was very reasonable, given the quick response. I had been making calls to multiple roofers in the area and was getting replies that they were all booked out thru October and November. I'm so glad I found Martin on Yelp! I wanted to get a health checkup and help troubleshooting an issue with my gutters before our So Cal rainy season and I texted Martin on Sunday and he immediately got back to me with a date out a week but I got lucky and he was able to come out on Friday to check out the work . I was impressed by Martin's professionalism and thoroughness. He walked me through what he planned on doing, what could possibly happen ( good or bad) and how he would then proceed. Within a day, I get a comprehensive and transparent estimate for the work and it couldn't be more reasonable. After I tell him he has the job, he says he can do it on Monday. and he's not only done but there was a problem that a plumber needs to take care of but he explained everything so that it made sense and he said he could come back after the plumber finished so he can complete his work. Martin is a one-man team roof repair. He is honest, professional, polite, reliable, very reasonably priced and very skilled. We invited him two years in a row to maintain our aging roof. He is true to his estimates and communicates before and after very clearly - he is quick and easy to reach and provides photos of the issue and the work completed. When a gutter leak persisted after his initial repair (it was an issue with multiple causes), he came back promptly, performed thorough testing to figure out root cause, performed the additional work needed to stop the leak, and did it at no extra charge. He did an excellent job fixing vent pipes flashing, replacing and painting damaged fascia and soffit sections, installing a mesh screen to seal attic vent, and some other misc items. Based on Yelp's reviews, I hired Martin to replace several facial boards a year ago. He did a good job. But that is not the reason I write this review. The recent heavy rains exposed a leak on my garage roof. Without knowing if the original roofer, who installed the lifetime-guarantee metal roof 20+ years ago was still in business, I called Martin. He worked on it amidst his busy schedule. Finding the leaking spot wasn't easy. It didn't work. I texted him several times. Then he responded: "If I can't come back this week, I will refund you." A week later I luckily found the original roofer and the leakage was resolved. I texted Martin, and he refunded his service charge fully. I appreciated his warrantee for his work. We needed a new skylight to replace the one in our house since it was installed in 1978. I contacted Pioneer and dealt directly with Martin, who came out quickly and provided a quote for window, installation complete. Martin also scanned my roof and showed me pictures of flashing on several penetrations that were missing protective tar and one exhaust was missing a cap. The cost, including the misc repairs, was less than other quotes, which only priced the window. The day of the install, Martin did it himself and work was professional and quick. I told him to drag a garden hose up there to test for leaks, which he said he normally does not do, but he agreed. Good thing! Two leaks were uncovered.
