Have you ever seen those one-day wedding dress sales where the women try to kill each other for a wedding dress? The Room & Board Outlet is kind of like that but with families/couples and furniture instead of dresses. So, the rundown works like this: Open only on the weekends on a first come-first served, what you see is what you get, all sales are final basis, the showroom is open to sell Room & Board overstock at a discounted price. Inventory changes all the time. Depending on what you want, you could save substantial dough and steal something for 30-50 percent off retail maybe. There are mostly couches, chairs, sectionals, tables and the like and then there is a smattering of other smaller items for the taking. I will say, this could be quite the place to find a deal on a coffee table, side tables or other small items like that. If you're willing to fight the crowd, get there early, wait in line and be ready to decide immediately whether you want an item or not, this could legitimately be a chance to score a great deal on some furniture. If this is not your type of thing or you want something really specific, it could be a place to look just in case you get lucky and find the exact right piece at a discount. If you hate people, crowds and channeling your favorite New York City cabbie to defend your find, stay away. Maybe I feel lukewarm on it because I can't imagine making a furniture decision that quickly. Maybe it's because I generally don't like crowds. But more likely it's because I'm just cheap and I still think even this discounted furniture is too expensive. I'm sure others think this is the bees knees of furniture shopping. I guess it just depends on your perspective.

    Sectional sofa and coffee table

We've found so many great deals over the years, its amazing. This place is a lot of fun, especially if you're willing to get here early on Saturday morning. Today was especially fun because of our salesperson, Nancy. She helped us furnish our new home by listening to what we needed, even looking at pictures of our living space. She offered us great advice, even cautioning us against spending money where it was not needed. That's the kind of sales that is rare today. The photo I'm posting shows a sectional sofa and coffee table we bought which saved us well over a thousand bucks.

This place is heaven on earth. I feel like a total yuppy writing a review about an expensive furniture store outlet, but the truth is, I'd much rather buy American made anything for the same price as Ikea crap. I have bought a beautiful 98 inch Clarke couch here, and it has really been the centerpiece of my home. The furniture is barely damaged if at all, and a lot of it comes directly from the catalogue photo shoot or from the stores floor models. We are moving out of state soon, and I just learned that you can ship ANYTHING you buy here for just $89, and they will deliver the furniture TO YOUR DOOR in another state. How amazing is that!? We are certainly going to buy our furniture here, and have it shipped. We will probably save thousands of dollars doing this.

I arrived around 1130 on a Saturday and it was packed. Most of the sofas were already yellow tagged (sold) which was a bummer but overall the quality and selection was still impressive given it's an outlet. I honestly feel like they should triple in size if they have the inventory (which it appeared they did!). If you're looking for 40-60% off high quality MCM, it's a cool spot to browse. Bring your credit card though... it's still pricey!!

I will say, staff didn't seem warm and friendly (ie a smile, or offer to help), but at the same no one was directly rude. I gather if you ask for help, they'd assist. I noticed by the bed frames, a sign that said they have tools to disassemble, but you had to do it yourself, which is still helpful since some places wouldn't even offer that.

You put the sticker on, and take it's product/price tag to the cashier for check-out. -the store is packed with items, and people making moving around not so easy. I don't think it's ideal for those with walkers, wheelchairs, or strollers. If you have mobility challenges, navigating may be tough. -some items don't have a price tag, like the pillow I bought. I asked the cashier how the price is determined, and was advised they assign what they think is a fair price at check-out. My pillow was valued at $4. -i got there at 10:07am, 7 mins after they opened and there were people everywhere. That said, if you're a serious shopper arrive early to see the goods before the super-early birds snatch it all up. -again, it's filled with stuff; mainly furniture, home decor, dinnerware, kitchen goods, some shoes, books, and I even saw cute scarves and bags. Today I visited the new location that opened TODAY 3/3/22 (3006 Texas Ave S, St Louis Park) -- great luck!! There's plenty of parking and the space is laid out beautifully. You can really see all the items and everywhere you turn, there's something new. My mom and I like to frequent this shop to see what's new, and I think we'll come even more now that there's a new location! Be sure to follow the owners Instagram (@retrowanderlust) to keep up with any sales she has or if she has changes to her schedule. I believe she's planning on doing a bit of e-commerce, so that will be fun to see as well! We've bought some dresser drawers from RW before, and today my mom picked up a beautiful large blue tablecloth for only $28. She also bought a concrete candle for $14. I'd say pieces are priced fairly -- sturdy and unique antiques are an investment! That said, I think there's something in this store for any budget, there's a wide range of pricing. I definitely recommend going to Retro Wanderlust, and now, even better -- it's in a fun part of St Louis Park. Make a fun day of it or just go to browse the fun collection and go home. I'll be back. I came in specifically to look at Joybird sofas as they are an authorized retailer and have sofas on the sales floor. Its scary to make an online purchase (and such a large, custom purchase) without touching and feeling an item, so I was thrilled to learn this store was so close to home and had what I was looking to purchase. I had a great time working with Kristin. After countless emails and a couple visits to the store I ordered my sofa, and also ended up with a chair and lamp. Kristin was great to offer her designer opinion while listening to mine and helping me make the big decision based on my existing home design. They offer financing (OAC) and 'white glove' delivery (they take all the packaging stuff with them when they leave, set the item in the room of your choosing) just like Joybird, but they will for other items you purchase there, too. The kicker is the 2 week in home trial period. Keep it for two weeks and if you decide you hate it they will take it back to the store and offer you store credit to replace the item. This really eased my worry about spending 2K on a sofa I may not like as much in person. I can't wait until it arrives! They also have home decor items here, like pillows and lamps. Its a super fun place to just look around and get inspiration, or fall in love with a custom fox lamp which would totally look amazing on your nightstand. Or maybe that fun mounted anatomical model of a heart on your desk. Or maybe that chair with acrylic arms. You get the idea... Inventory is changing constantly, so visit often. See you there!

I wasn't sure if I could afford it so I had her price out a chair for me it was $1100 but they had a 20% off sale so it would be $880. I'm new to furniture shopshopping so I went to another store later (La-Z-Boy) and it was comparable to that. I walked in at 20 minutes to closing on a Sunday night, but Billie didn't seem rushed at all. I was the one saying "let's just wrap this up. Can you give me something to look at online?" And she gave me two websites she thought I would like based on our conversations and looking at what they have to offer.
