I feel very much at home because we share very similar tastes in home decor. It feels very cozy as soon as I enter this bars. I believe we had two wonderful bartenders who took our order and quickly brought back out drinks. Great service, dimly but warmly lit (which I love to help me avoid migraine triggers), lots of conversation and chattering going on around us. Also, PINBALL! The stage is set up against the front window so passersby can see the excitement within, and the monitors are placed around the restaurant so all patrons can sing along. Naturally, it's exceptionally loud here, so hearing protection is recommended. When we were there, the vocalists ranged from trained singers to drunks hitting every wrong note. We heard hip-hop, country, rock, pop, and even metal, so you can step up and sing whatever you feel like. Adding your name is easy, and the hosts flow between acts so quickly that it won't take long for you to get your time to shine. What surprised me most was how often the hosts sang. The two bartenders Ernesto and Mahogany each have absolutely breathtaking voices (Ernesto in particular made my ladyfriends swoon), but they sang roughly every 4 songs despite a steady flow of various other voices that wanted a turn. To their credit, they also valiantly offered backup vocals for duets and seemed to know every song. I watched Ernesto taking orders and serving drinks with one hand while belting into the mic with the other. Definitely an impressive skill set, but they might consider stepping their participation back a bit. There's an electronic drum kit onstage, and later in the evening a guy named Sosa sat down at it and began accompanying most of the songs with flawless beats. I could watch him all night. There aren't many seats - there were about 5 tables lining the walls, which offers plenty of space for dancing, and lots of folks jumped up to dance. It was a very supportive atmosphere . So supportive, in fact, that an apparent regular named Jake came over to hit on my partner. We had fun and each got to sing what we wanted, but agreed that the place could be furnished and decorated a little more fully, and that the bartenders were a little overbearing and intimidating when it came to singing.

It was busy and live bands were already playing in the back. We were hoping for the green lips cocktail which featured melon liquor, chartreuse and titos but alas they were out. However the wonderful bar staff mixed up some excellent blueberry infused vodka cocktails that were incredible. The blueberry flavor really came through tasting fresh and fruity. They mixed them to order also with mine being less sweet and my daughters being sweeter and they were spot on. The crowd is mixed age and there was plenty of tattoos and black leather but my sketchers and office attire is welcome too. I would definitely come back for another cocktail and maybe listen in on a local band next time.

Poetry Starts at 7:30 I arrive around 8, and signed up. An older crowd for sure, like 70's mainly with a few 30 year olds, and couple 20 somethings. I was really impressed with a few of the volunteer speakers and first time readers. And I loved having the opportunity to read something on stage for the first time that I wrote. I will say I was at the bottom of a 13 people list and didn't get "show time" until like 10:15 which I felt was a bit late. It's a neat spot if you're looking to switch things up or push yourself out of your comfort zone. I knocked off a star because I felt like some of the poetry was a bit vulgar for my liking and untasteful. Somebody brought a puppy which was also a highlight-love baby things!

The narrow layout of the bar does make it a little hard for a true dance vibe since people constantly need to get through since it's both walkway and main space so if that's more your thing this may not be the spot for you. They do offer hookah ($38 when I asked) - drinks are fairly pricey considering their size! Two drinks for $25 served in 6 oz cups! Yet someone ordered a glass of beer and it was $6. So maybe more the spot for quick grabs versus cocktails. It's generally a cute spot the vibe with the neon lights and their sayings are cute and make for photo moments. Bathrooms were clean. Bartenders were super nice. The stairs for getting between levels are definitely a hazard! The steps aren't all even with that half floor in between and I have issues and see people have issues every-time. They should really paint the harder to notice ones yellow or add stripes - especially when it's darker and if someone is drinking makes for a much scarier situation is all.
