This place is great for drinks with friends or working alone and wanting to be out or pull up a chair at the bar. You can't really lose here if your looking to drink and be in a cold vibe. I came here with my family to celebrate my brother in law birthday.. well just a little diner and of course some good beer! It was a chill Tuesday night, so it wasn't busy at all. We got beer and some appetizer like scallops with bacon and shrimps and asparagus with prosciutto and goat cheese. And for diner everyone tried something different like a burger, Panini, pizza, and pasta.! Everything was really good. Atmosphere and beer is what this place is great for. We ordered a flatbread had great flavor but I kinda was disappointed with the pita which was store bought and soggy. Mushroom pesto was great and shrimp was perfectly cooked but the value and price was a bit off for me. As well make sure to ask about their happy hour pricing when ordering because when we last went we were there for happy hour but got charged full price for their Pineapple haze ipa which is great but again $9 per pint is a bit steep in my opinion. Yesterday was my second visit to this place and once again I found this a great place. You'll find friendly and talkative people at the bar and behind the bar. The staff is knowledgeable about all of the beer selections and there are plenty. Great classic rock playing in background, loved hearing all the John Lennon songs. Food menu is huge, I went with the ahi tuna salad, and the dressing was bit strong for my liking. Next time will try a pizza or burger. read more

I would recommend this place for a craft beer and a nice outdoor atmosphere. They have a spacious side patio area with games, where dogs are welcome. I think that's really cool that restaurants are beginning to allow that. We ordered dinner at the bar on our second visit. The dining area is very dark, borderline gloomy. We were not blown away by our meals either. I ordered the 'Regan's Meatloaf Sandwich' which tasted like a freezer meal. My husband ordered the 'Clinton's Drunken Salmon' sandwich which was just ok. Both came with a plain side salad, and potato salad that was dense and flavorless. I don't see us returning for a meal, but definitely a beer on a nice night. read more

Roosevelts! I'm so torn! On the one hand, you're a fun bar in McAllen with craft beer, games, a patio and food. That alone should garner 5 stars given the dearth of places to hang out with buddies down there. Buuuuuuut... on the other hand, I tend to encounter really off putting staff there. I don't need a lot of attention -- i typically know the beer on tap and don't require explanation so there's really no reason for what I sense is a mix of impatience and inner eye rolling.Recently, I met some friends here and ordered food for the first time. It arrived promptly and we tore into the spinach artichoke dip, digging the flavor and the sturdy chips. Then our pizza arrived and despite the abundance of toppings, it was just kind of cardboard-y. That's not a technical term -- but overall the pizza was just lackluster. Also, if you're going to display local artists whose work I like, please know who they are and how I can get a hold of them. There were two pieces that I would have probably purchased had they had a name and a number or email next to them. Even the staff didn't know. I still don't know the information for the piece I really wanted, even after post-visit follow up. Last and certainly least and the thing that's going to make me sound like a picky jerk, is when you re-do your menus, please please get the names of the stars you're naming your food after right. The one I remember now is "Carey" Grant. There is no E in his name. Still, you've that crafty crafty beer, a spot for us to enjoy the 100 degree summer weather, dips n chips n sandwiches and I wont feel weird busting out cards against humanity there. All I have to say is drinks, friends, and Jenga it does not get any better than this. The food is great and especially the "Spring Fettuccini" which is my favorite! They also have a wide variety of beers when it comes to needing a nice and cold one. The outside area is a bit larger and gives you room for when more than a few friends decide to come. I recommend this place for all of those people looking for a nice environment to hangout with some friends. I personally also find it to be great during lunch since it's a nice place to have a good beer and some good food. read more

Absolutely loved this place as a craft beer bar. Several of us came here on the recommendation of a lady at Salt who is all about the craft beer scene in McAllen & she was right on. Over 100 beer choices with almost hAlf being on tap. I like a hoppy beer & there's a new local brew in town called Rabble rouser & it was delicious. We didn't eat here so I can't comment on the food but I'd come back just for all the beer choices. The added benefits are the place has lots of character, not your cookie cutter chain restaurant. Neat beer garden/restaurant in McAllen with a great selection of beers. The inside of Roosevelt's looked nice and spacious with wooden pub themes; however, I sat outside on the patio with friends. They do have mosquito spray on hand for those brave enough to sit outdoors (which I really appreciated). They have a Foosball table and a few dart boards outdoors and a mixture of indie/country music playing. The beer selection is great, and I found our waiter to be very helpful. The menu is a little misleading because they do not put prices, but just ask for the cost before ordering! All of the beers I got turned out to be $6. read more

I really enjoy that they had a roomy outside patio. Was our first time with a couple of other friends. Server was very helpful in letting us know about the menu and beer selection. He even brought us a few samples which was a big plus. Onto the food...sigh I was a tad bit disappointed. The 2 pizza I ordered tasted bland and crust had no wow factor. My guess was that pizza came out cold cause cheese had no cheesy stretch like pizza supposed to have. Burger had good flavor, but again meat was a lil overcooked thus dry taste as I'm chewing. I came here for my lunch break & the outside looked amazing with how it looked like, as soon as I walked in the environment looked horrendous & felt like you ended going to a restaurant that you didn't expect to be at. So as soon I make my way to a booth as I sit & the booth seating was just outdated hearing the booth moving when you get up & just felt uncomfortable. The waiter was decent but felt like he wasn't just enthusiastic about the customer like as in he didn't care, which rubbed me the wrong way. So when I got my spinach artichoke appetizer it was a great portion size but the chips were just not that great, low quality. When I received my entree the pasta meal looked promising but the salmon just didn't taste that great, felt like the salmon didn't taste like how I would expected to be, which tasted outdated. Overall it was so & so. My advice is when you or if you decide to come to Roosevelt's don't come during the week & go during the weekend & also eat outside because the outside dining felt more inviting than the inside... I wouldn't eat here again but this is just based upon my experience here. read more

I got the turkey panini and these are the only two tomatoes I got (see picture). They must hate their customers if they give them the garbage ends of the tomato. The potato salad was bland and dry I tried to add salt and it didn't help and pickle spear counts as a side. Also left waiting after the beer I requested was sold out. After I was told it was sold out the server just walked away and didn't let me order a different selection. Not until I stood up and stared at him did I get a chance to order another beer. I went this Saturday to have dinner with a friend, we both ended up ordering their pesto Alfredo pata because I've had it before and I love it. They charge you extra if you want chicken, shrimp, or salmon, but its worth it. We also had some sangrias, I had the red one and Yessy had the white one, they were both really good, but I prefer red sangria. They also have a big selection of beers, last time I was here I ordered a strawberry beer that honestly I didn't like, but I wanted to try something different. After we ate another friend came along and he ordered a Fireman's beer, a blonde ale that I really like, I'll probably need to order it next time.
