I chopped off my pony tail when I was upset about my hair and went in for a fix. I saw Keith. He understood and we compared photos of what could work. Extremely knowledgeable about hair and different hair types which meant a lot to me. Usually people see that my hair is naturally curly and they just want to chop layers and layers in to accentuate the curls. I feel like my hair needs were understood by Keith. got my hair cut and walked away unsure as I always do after a haircut and put on my baseball cap. As the day went on I started understanding the haircut and realized that it's actually beautiful!! Tons of movement and a super cute sassy hairstyle!! The salon is very clean and professional. The receptionist at front was super cheery which helped calm my nerves before having to admit that I had cut my own hair and remove my hat. Very comfortable and classy salon. My hair stylist was such a joy to chat with and I will continue to go to roots salon. I love my new hair and I enjoyed my experience there today!! Highly recommend! read more

While I did get a very good haircut I won't be returning, I found the prices prohibitive at 78$ for a haircut?

I didn't think I could get a haircut in the Valley without walking away wearing a mullet. Roots has great staff and stylists who know how to cut hair. Prices are average, maybe not for the Valley but for most cities. Worth every penny. Go to Roots for style and elsewhere for mullets. read more

I've had my hair done several times and it turned out perfect every time. I have thick medium wavy hair and they know what to do with it. I usually get mixed foils and a curly air dry with curling iron touch up. Reasonable prices for a pretty current salon. read more

Just had the absolute WORST haircut of my life. absolutely butchered my fade, un-even on all sides! faded the back of my head up so high i look like a dam alien! and I still had to pay for this terrible haircut though i voiced that i was very unpleased with the cut. the barber (Keith) basically shaved the sides of my hair right off and didn't blend anything. i showed photos of pervious haircuts I've had and the barber didn't give me anything near of what i wanted. the barbers response was simple "it'll grow back in" yeah but thats not what i come to get my haircut for. now ill be walking around looking like i escaped from area 51 for weeks. might as well just buzzed my shit off. if i could give 0 stars i would! Booked an appointment here and was very happy with results! Had a hairdresser named Matthew and he was awesome, but I'm sure they are all good as the salon was very busy and obviously popular. Got a really nice cut and color, exactly what I wanted! And very reasonable prices in my opinion, although I'm coming from vancouver:) great looking place, air conditioning only thing to watch for is the street parking is only for 2 hrs then you have to move,and the salon only has a few designated spots in the back. So get dropped off if you can :) read more

As much as I have lived the service, I cannot abide the poor treatment of clientele/potential clientele on a public forum by one of their staff. I deal with severe social anxiety, and as I have personally seen how hostile staff can be, I cannot make myself go there. Terrible PR and customer service. read more

It's taken me awhile to write this review as I was very upset at the result of my haircut. I am still in disbelief at the ridiculous style I was left with from this salon. I took such care in the salon and stylist I chose by reading reviews and even doing a drive-by! All seemed good on the surface. The day of my haircut, I met the stylist. She was very nice and before taking me back for a wash, she sat me down and specifically asked me what I wanted.... somehow my asking for a collarbone length cut that was easy to maintain (ie. no styling) meant to her that I wanted an asymmetrical bob! Not once throughout the cut did she stop to ask what I thought. Only once styled when she was finished did I see that the front was noticeably longer than the back - so she cut the front a bit more to "fix it". She did not show me the back in a mirror - In retrospect, I've never had a stylist not show me the back and walk me through the cut. This stylist clearly took unwanted artistic liberties with my hair. I didn't realize the full extent of the butchering of my hair until I got home. I reached out to her the next day and left a message with the front desk that I was unhappy and wished to speak with her - as she was with another client (possibly again ignoring the customer's requests?). I received a voicemail from her and tried to reach her again but I eventually gave up as her voicemail back to me did not seem very concerned or continue to try to reach me. read more

I have a regular hairdresser who is very good. Unfortunately our schedules just weren't meshing and I desperately needed a cut. A friend had a good cut and on their recommendation I tried Roots the Salon. I booked a trim because I wanted to keep my current style. The stylist was critical of the style and insisted it needed to be reworked. My hair was shampooed and then cut. During the process I found the stylist was a bit contrary about the cut, my colour. Now my regular hairdresser does an incredible job on my colour and I have always been pleased with my cut. So although the cut I received at Roots was satisfactory it wasn't what I asked for and I feel the stylist should have been willing to give me the trim I asked for. But lesson learned. My biggest complaint was after I left the salon and saw that my perfect colour was brassy. I guess the shampoo the salon uses is of a poor quality because my own hairdresser and myself at home use a high quality shampoo that doesn't strip the toner from my hair like the shampoo from Roots did. How much did this "trim" that turned into a restyled cut and colour striping experience cost? $65.00 before tax. I am as disappointed in myself as the stylist. Next time a stylist tells me my cut isn't that good but I love it, I'll run not walk from the chair. read more
