From the Spritz brand aromatic sprays that tone and refresh, to Harlow skin care I indulged in sample nirvana. Then I spotted THE boot brand SHOTO! Hand made in Italy, I am now smitten and on the prowl! Oh yes they had a the bag brand Market Canvas, I can see one of these on my shoulder sooner than later. The shop staff was kind and informative, and I shared one of my favorite Italian leather manufactures with them. I left the shop with a wealth of new product information. My philosophy is to shop local is possible, especially when traveling and go look and handle items, and learn about new things that may enrich your life in some little way. I finally stopped by, and although they do sell surprisingly interesting giftware, they also sell women's clothes. The clothing is pretty much in the neutral colours around which you build your wardrobe. Everything I saw was casual clothing (denim, tops, sweaters), and the merchandise ranged from classic to stylish. I would say the items are definitely not cheap, but they are different than the other stores in Whistler. There appeared to be limited quantities of each item too, so if it's important to you to not see other women around town in the same top, this is a good choice. Overall, I think the store is a 4.5. I rounded up because it's a unique store in Whistler. It's worth a look, if you are in the area.

Erin ("The Control Room") is an exceptional bootfitter. I came in assuming I might need new boots…read morebecause I was getting significant toe numbness and foot pain after a couple hours of skiing. Instead of immediately pushing a new boot, Erin did a very thoughtful assessment and quickly diagnosed what was actually going on. He identified toe compression, a lack of contact along part of my instep, and nerve pressure along the inside of my foot. The boot itself (a Lange low-volume shell) was actually the right boot ... it just needed the right modifications. He performed punch-outs to give my toes more room, modified the liner to increase toe box volume, built a custom footbed, and added an elastic power strap to improve how I engage the front of the boot. What really stood out was how clearly he explained the mechanics of what was happening inside the boot and why each adjustment mattered for skiing performance. After the work, the difference on snow was immediate: my boots felt dramatically better and I could finally pressure the front of the ski without pain or numbness. Erin combines deep technical expertise with a genuine desire to get the fit right. I would recommend him without hesitation to any serious skier.

I was able to prearrange with Black Tie to meet me at the lodge at 7:00 pm and they brought me choices based on my specifics and a follow-up phone call they initiated to confirm my skiing ability. After my first day of skiing I exchanged my skis to better fit the snow conditions and to make it easier for me and was so glad I did. Black Tie had all of my metrics on file and just fit the bindings to my boots. Returning was hassle free - they even offered to pick up at my hotel but since they were so conveniently located by my lodge I just dropped them off on the last day. They carry a variety of children's items varying from jacket, helmets, goggles, pants, bibs, socks, apparel, etc. They also have some pretty cool items like helmet covers in different characters. When I asked if they could honor the price listed on the box and on their sticker, but they said no and that there's nothing they can do about it.... I thought this a strange business practice to not honor their listed price, and also felt it strange the person who processed the sale did not give me a headsup the price would be higher before charging me to make sure I was ok with it, especially since I had talked with them specifically about the price when I was trying the product on.
