Dropping off 4 lab samples here for the main lab, using the lab office here at Roper Express. Her son said that the lab was closed until 1:45 p.m. but it was closed for an additional 10 minutes. I guess it was lunch time. Anyway, when I went in, I was told that each sample needed to have my name and date of birth on them. The labels on the vials provided space for, and thus I had filled out the time of the sample and the date along with my name but not the date of birth as it was not asked. I was told that when the main lab received them and they could not read my name or did not have my date of birth they would throw them away, apparently without contacting me. That was the weirdest thing I ever heard and yes I said that sounded a bit like medical malpractice. read more

I rarely leave one-star reviews, but this experience was incredibly frustrating--especially because I was in severe pain after a pretty hard fall down the stairs. I called this urgent care on Sunday around 11:45 a.m. --after my fall, to ask whether I should come there or go to the ER. I was told they had X-ray capability and that the wait was about 2 hours and 5 minutes because they had one provider. I asked how to hold my place, and the person on the phone--who later confirmed she was the same person at the front desk--directed me to check in through MyChart. I did exactly that. MyChart showed that I was 6th in line, with an expected arrival time of 1:47 p.m. I then received text updates as my position moved from 6th to 5th to 4th to 2nd. The texts warned me that I would lose my spot if I arrived late. I stayed home while waiting so I could continue icing my injury while I waited to be seen. My husband and I planned to leave at 1:00, giving us plenty of time for the approximately 20-minute drive. When we arrived, there were only about three people in the waiting room. I went to check in and was told I now had a three-hour wait from the time I arrived. I was confused, so the employee explained that the MyChart queue doesn't affect the onsite queue at all. In other words, I had followed their instructions, waited at home based on the information their system gave me, and received multiple texts confirming my place in line--only to find out that none of it actually mattered. She said the MyChart queue means nothing (what?!?). Why did she direct me there and tell me I could wait at home? While my husband and I were trying to decide what to do, I received another text saying I was next in line. I showed it to the employee, and she was genuinely confused and said she didn't know what to tell me. I needed to wait the three hours. She suggested another location with a shorter wait, but that location didn't have an X-ray. She also suggested the ER. When I expressed concern about the cost, she told me my copay would be the same at the ER without checking my insurance. I later confirmed that this was incorrect. At that point, we decided we couldn't be comfortable relying on this facility for our care. We cancelled the check-in and went to the ER. The contrast was remarkable. Everyone at the ER--from registration and nursing to the attending physician and X-ray technician--was kind, courteous, professional, and prompt. I received the care and X-ray I needed, and we were out in about two hours. I understand that urgent cares get busy, and I don't fault them for having a long wait. What I do fault them for is giving me inaccurate information that caused me to waste significant time and effort while I was already in severe pain. And then have no accountability for it. Had I been given accurate information when I called, I could have made a different decision from the beginning. The problem wasn't the wait. It was the misinformation. read more

You cannot call and have them even answer the phone during working hours. Do not expect a swift response or care. They have one single elderly lady working the entire front of an emergency hospital. It is enraging when I consider how much Americans are forced to pay for the "luxury" of healthcare. We literally pay thousands a month just to have bare minimum access. They made it clear that they have a policy of PRESCRIPTIONS TAKING UP TO 48 hours to be *CALLED IN* If you need actual "URGENT CARE," shop around, this was shockingly bad care and follow up. read more

I made an appointment online as instructed. I received an automated text saying they're running extremely late. So I tried reaching out by calling their number 5 TIMES to see if they had an estimate of when I should arrive, if at all, since they could close without being able to see me. 5 TIMES the phone rang for a long time then an error message recording came on. I have to say this was a disappointing appointment. Yesterday I broke down and decided my side chest pain was too much. My doctor was cordial but had no idea what was wrong with me. Strained muscles for 19 days straight? Unsure if there's an infection on one organ?  He gave me 5 pills for muscle relaxing and told me to take alive. He did a very simple review of my lung/rib area... and told me to go see a physician. I woke again in so much pain. I called to see if I could get pain medicines or more muscle relaxers. I was treated as if I was some person seeking drugs. I'm a sixty two year old woman who lives alone and all I needed was help. I was told to go to an emergency room. I can't afford that - I had to walk to your office. The whole experience was horrible. It was not a satisfactory visit and I paid $100 for no assistance. I would not recommend this doctor or this facility again. read more

I came around 4:15 on a Tuesday afternoon to have labs drawn. The lady upfront completely ignored me when I asked, "do you happen to know about how long it would be for lab work?". Literally looked at me and ignored my question. The lady who drew my blood was extremely nice and helpful! I told her that I had an appointment that I needed to be at and she was very prompt with getting me set up and out of there. read more

I had a great experience here today as a walk in. Friendly, helpful and efficient medical staff. I was seen quickly and was treated with respect and kindness. The doctor listened and explained things well. I was able to get test results while I waited. The facility is large and clean with plenty of parking. read more

I asked the receptionist in charge of labs and she said she had paperwork and people would be called. She was very rude and dismissive. Finally she called 2 people in front of me and took their paperwork. They were directed to sit down again and wait. I went back up and turned my number in and left. Again she was very rude. Took forever to check-in, intake people were one-finger pecking on the keyboards, took forever to go back to get checked out, took forever to get no results from the X-ray, because the radiologist wasn't there to read anything. Got here at 1:30 and we are leaving at 2:20. Much faster than most urgent care places. My mom got taken back probably 10-15 after checking in. Doctor and nurses were super nice, and got us our quick since we are on vacation! Super clean, and open layout, which makes it seem much comfortable. This review is from about 1 1/2 months ago--Horrible--tried to go to Urgent Care down the road and they had a sign on their door saying that they were not accepting walk-ins (odd since that is exactly what they do-take walk-ins) so I had to go here thinking I was going to get a cyst drained. Since I don't have insurance I paid $100.00 upfront. The dr ? said she would give me a referral for a dermatologist (never got until after my Gyno already gave me one). Since I was there, I mentioned my left hip hurt and she said it's bursitis. That was the extent of the visit. When leaving they said I don't owe anything. I got a bill in the mail for almost $90.00! I called to dispute it and thought that would be that. Of course, I just got another bill for it. $190.00 total for basically nothing done is assinine and absolutely ridiculous! I don't particularly enjoy going here. This is our second visit and both times I came away feeling like the physician was guessing about what to do and wanting to set us up with a high-priced specialist. For some reason 5 people had to enter our room at a time when we should be minimizing contact. I feel like I am paying for the 5 people to come into my room, not to mention the 10 people sitting at computers in the fancy lobby doing who knows what. Those were terrible design decisions. Likewise, the building is located in a way that getting to the front doors is a bit of a mystery. They are open late, which is the reason I've gone, but if I had my choice I'd go somewhere else. read more

The COVID testing process is a little silly. You need to get out of your car, wait in line with other people, go back to your car and then wait to be called in the parking lot. If we're exposed to others we may as well stand outside with everyone and get tested or have someone collect IDs and a phone number directly from your car and STAY in your car. We were asked for a phone number..okay why? For test results? They never told us to wait in the parking lot and then we will be called when our test is ready. We then asked if we can get our results via email as we need this for travel and it was a complicated mess for them to tell us we need to ask the doctor for email results. At this point I don't have much faith in their testing process or organization in the lab as it seems to be out of order from the beginning. If you want to be sure you get your correct results and not mixed with someone else's then I'd suggest going elsewhere. read more

I was visiting Charleston for my birthday weekend and ended up here the first day of my trip. Everyone was so nice and knowledgeable. The PA, Lashana, was super accommodating, brought humor to the situation, and advocated for me by reaching out to the orthopedist on call to give me a better understanding of my knee injury. Thankfully, on this particular day and time, the orthopedist on call, Dr. Rudolph, was in the urgent care making rounds and fit me into his schedule. He took the time to review the Xrays with me, gave me an idea of what the injury looked like and what to expect when I got home, and ordered a STAT CAT scan at the nearby hospital that same day. He gave me his personal cell # to call after the scan so he could review the results asap, and confirm the findings to me. Also, thank you Octavia for taking the time to educate me on how to use my knee brace before sending me on my way! Everyone here helped me bring light to this unfortunate accident, and even though the rest of my weekend was spent in a brace and on crutches, I was still able to enjoy myself! read more
