Confusing price scheme and wrinkled clothes that will never wash out…read more Very confusing pricing scheme and scheme is the operative word. They have different colored tags with prices on it. The front has handouts that indicate how much off that color is. Usually it's around 60% or more. So, you can get a tee shirt that's marked $3 or whatever for a good price, if you're willing to look it over for stains, tears, etc. But, this last time, they pulled a quickie. All but a couple of the tags were FULL PRICE. This means what you bought last week now will cost you a lot more. I did buy a few things and spent $48 bucks. The woman told me that the receipt is in the bag. That was a lie. ALWAYS GET THE RECEIPT IN YOUR HAND OR MAKE SURE IT'S PUT IN THE BAG. Without the receipt you don't know what you spent on what or even if you can return anything. The clothes. If you need work clothes, this might be the place to get them if you watch their sneaky price tactics. If you think you're getting something that's $1.99 but it's $12.99, tell them they can keep it. Most of the clothes are new, although some are obviously used, like the jeans. If you buy something that's wrinkled there, it's been my experience now with these things is that the wrinkles will not wash out. Also, be on the lookout for torn zippers, mouse chewed holes, rips, glue, bleach stains and wrong sizes marked on the label. Going back for a few times, no one's going to buy those old nasty suit jackets that's been hanging in there and look like something rejected from Goodwill.

It's owned by a Scottish fellow and his wife, so they went with a really fun Scottish theme & tartan everywhere...although small, it's definitely a cheerier version of the standard antique mall with dreary stalls. Debra is incredibly friendly and welcoming! On my visit, I only found a few little treasures I couldn't leave without, but they are still in the early days and adding new vendors. Of course prices and items varied by stall, but the quality was great overall (so much neat stuff!) and prices seemed fair, especially on home furnishings. I will definitely add Tartan Traders to my rotation for secondhand shopping trips!

They have a lot of women's business clothing in good condition from the 70s-90s which makes excellent "raw material" for those who may like to put their own twist on things. Lots of blouses, dresses, skirts and jackets that can be updated and made to fit into present day fashions. Also a LOT of men's nice shirts especially in sizes L/XL and XXL. Think "dad" shirts like denim and corduroy and flannel, but all clean and in good condition. Low prices. The guy running this place is very friendly and personable, and seems open to haggling and making special deals. We bought some clothing and he gave us several old magazines for free (we were gonna buy them anyway). He said that due to the Route 66 location they have shoppers come in from all over the world. Their shoes and bags were not in the best shape, but again this place is cheap! There is not really room for a lot of housewares or furniture due to the shop's size but it's charming and fully stocked. I would absolutely return.

They buy random things that they personally think are cute and then it sits on racks or shelves foreverrrrrr. Not only that, but it takes them approximately two hours to look through a paper grocery bag full of clothes. They stand there staring open-mouthed at a counter full of T-shirts like they've never seen them before. I brought some stuff here two summers ago that was still there when I went back last week. I know they're the exact same pieces because they have a specific mark on a small tag inside. The store is always a huge, overpriced mess that's not worth it to look through. They have a "designer sunglasses" case too. Seriously, who's going to buy used sunglasses for $50? Are we insane? Just go to the thrift store. You'll find better stuff at a better deal. It's located in the South part of Joplin Missouri and is in a pretty nondescript shopping plaza across the street from a Thai restaurant and they sell lots of discounted goods and they hardly ever have anyone in here so it makes for a really great discount store and I'm honestly not sure how they stay in business with these prices on so many products and often being so quiet (at least the few times I've been by here or in here) but I'm glad that they do as they are a great discount store and better than most dollar stores and a true credit to Joplin and what is coolest of all is that this was a really long sentence to signify the fact that it'll probably be a really long time until I come back here again and anyway I think it's time to wrap this up now like another really long thing when you're not someone that wants to have kids.
