I'm a huge fan of this place. The property, the dogs, and the staff are all amazing. I've got three hunts under my belt at this property, and I've enjoyed myself immensely. A note on the dove hunts. You are hunting wild dove, not raised and released dove. So if the dove are not in the Rose Hill field and are somewhere else, you will not be shooting. If you call and talk to the staff, you will learn that they have a new panting and cutting strategy that will be sure to draw them in next time. Pheasant, Chukar and Quail are very high quality hunts and I recommend whole-heartedly. I will be back to this property frequently. read more

I had a decent hunt with a guide named Mike. He had two amazing dogs that performed as experts. The layout turned out to be predictable but I love tagging birds regardless. Mike was a stellar guide. I hope he sees great success in his career and life. My issue lies with when I conferred with the assistant manager on whether my intended tip for the guide was sufficient. Some background: Each participant is charged a $30 premium on a half day rate, should they desire a guide and his/her dog. Fair dinkum for the mate's time and expense of buying/keeping/training his dog. Relative expense to expenditure of effort doesn't really reconcile once you go from 2 to 4 participants, as the same effort and time is expended, but I can flex on that point. My severe issue is when I conferred with the assistant manager on what a reasonable tip would be. He suggested that all participants usually tip between $30-$50 PER PERSON. I was flat out dumbfounded. I interpreted that as an asshole trying to take advantage of someone he thought wasn't versed in this world/sport. The shear thought that me and my team would think to tip 160% of established rate of pay left me angry and bitter. I won't return to this place and I'm happy to recommend an alternative a little further south. Feel free to get in touch.
