There are arboretums, trellis with gorgeous vines, park benches, quaint historical buildings that suit a photoshoot. Parking is nearby albeit it is hidden. Turn south on 51st from Northern. Watch carefully for the sign next to the Walgreens parking lot that says in fine print: Manistee Ranch Parking. For those in heels and finery, the grounds are small so there isn't a long walk to the great photo spots!

Once here there are several routes you can take varying from easy to challenging. Most importantly, please wear appropriate footwear!! I saw an older guy wearing Crocs without the back supports going up the path and he nearly toppled backwards several times. I was very worried for his well-being - this path really requires socks and shoes. Of note, depending on when you go and which direction you choose to go in, one side of the mountain has no relief from the sun - it is hot! The other side is shaded and pleasant. Whichever route you take, make sure to bring liquids to hydrate and know your limit. You can always get to a lower elevation and walk around the mountain if it gets too steep.

I have also been here for a friend's child's birthday party where the gazebos were reserved for the party. There's plenty of playgrounds for the kids as well. You can tell it was designed to be a special place, and on the surface, it truly is adorable. That said, my experience left me feeling uneasy, mostly due to cleanliness and supervision concerns. I witnessed multiple children putting toys in their mouths (which is totally normal for kids), but what was concerning was that those same toys were often placed right back into shared play areas. While I later learned there is a designated bin for toys that have been in kids' mouths, this wasn't communicated upfront, and I didn't see it being consistently used or enforced. There also seemed to be inconsistency when it came to staff involvement. Across my two visits, I did see some staff members actively cleaning up and returning toys to their proper places, which I appreciated. However, I also observed others simply picking up toys and dropping them into corners of the rooms without any real organization or sanitizing. I completely understand that keeping up with kids is a challenge--I'm a parent too--but that's where consistent staff engagement becomes really important. Another issue was the level of parental supervision. Many parents were on their phones while their kids played freely. Again, that's ultimately a parenting responsibility, but in a shared environment like this, it contributes to the overall hygiene and safety concerns. I also want to mention that I found the staff presentation a bit unprofessional, which added to the overall impression that things weren't being closely managed. To be fair, you do sign a waiver regarding illness, and I understand that no play space can be completely germ-free. However, I did end up contracting chickenpox exactly 10 days after visiting, which makes me seriously question the effectiveness of their cleaning and sanitizing practices. Overall, this place is incredibly cute and full of potential. With more consistent staff involvement, clearer communication, better sanitization systems, and encouragement for parents to stay engaged, it could be an amazing environment. Right now, though, it falls short of what it could and should be.

Inspiration not only keeps it fun and exciting for kids, but also provides extensive instruction on how to execute every segment of every maneuver. They also teach everything from social and life skills to personal safety in non-violent situations as well as the physical ones. Kids and adults learn and advance at their own pace, and they have a variety of packages from basic TKD to sparring, weapons, hyper (trick/stunt styles) and kickboxing and Krav Maga for older kids and adults. You can also choose from a basic 2 classes per week or a more intensive schedule. Please remember that you get what you pay for. The tuition is about 2-3 times what I had initially intended to pay, but the results as well as support system are well worth it, and they do have payment plans with multiple options to help you to afford their fees. They also have great family rates so that your while family can train for around the same price as 2 or 3 people, depending upon which package you choose. For the first time since I became a parent, I finally have a team that is able to reinforce the lessons I teach my sons, both positive and disciplinary. You can also see the results by the number of district/state/world champions who have trained here, as well as by the roles their students take on in the community. My youngest son used to be very wild and disobedient in comparison to his brothers. My middle son was beaten up about twice a week in his old school, and the administration did nothing to correct the problem. My oldest son wanted an outlet to grow his athletic and leadership skills. Inspiration ATA has helped us to take care of all of that and more. This is probably the best investment I've ever made...and I hold multiple college degrees including an M.A. If you are willing and able to make the investment in their programs, the dividends reaped will far outweigh the costs. In addition to fitness and self defense, your child will develop self-confidence/self-esteem, respect, discipline, vision, teamwork, leadership, community responsibility, academic focus, and so much more. I love my boys, and as of this writing, this is probably the best choice that I have ever made for their growth, development, and well-being as they become more independent and capable adults.

My son takes martial arts here, participates in the parents night out events, and will also be having his birthday party here soon. He has friends that attend the summer programs, and afterschool programs as well, and every family we know has nothing but incredible things to say about Coach Sharon and Coach Josiah and the entire team at Inspiration Kidz. I love the way that Coach Franco makes it a point to get to know both students and parents, it really makes us feel welcome every time we walk through the door!
