This is a great park to get access to the canal trail which is what I use it for. No issues with people tampering with your vehicle due to the volume of people who frequent the park. Very fun sports park and complex. It looks to be very new, and updated with fun jungle gyms and new sports facilities. We enjoyed the ease of parking, and plenty of areas with shade. The concessions are fairly priced, and all the events ran smoothly. The fields appear to be very well maintained. Aside from that, it looks a like a great park for any recreation you choose. Rio Vista Community Park is located near the 101 and Thunderbird. This park may be enjoyed all year round. Unlike the smaller community parks, Rio Vista has a skate park, sand volleyball courts, and batting cages. There is also a veteran's memorial located on the outskirts of the park. Rio Vista has many of the amenities one expects to find at local parks. Fishing is allowed in the lake. (Please follow local regulations.) There are well kept sport fields. Playground and splash pad for the kids to play on. Play structures for different ages and abilities. The playground is partially covered. Restrooms are conveniently located near the playground. Covered picnic ramadas are available to rent. BBQ grills are in the center of the ramada area near the playground. Each of the ramadas is assigned to a grill. The grill area is covered yet vented. A recreation center is located in the park. Check their website for classes and events, or stop in. There is also a gym located inside. I did not stop to see the fees/rules. The recreation center is yet another location to find restrooms. A water bottle filling station is also located inside. Rio Vista Community Park also acts as a connector to the New River Trail. Walk around the park, and if you are feeling up to it, enjoy the New River Trail. We have visited Rio Vista Park several times, and we have only scratched the surface of all the amenities offered. read more

This park has EVERYTHING! Despite how large this community park is, it is very well maintained and clean. There's reading spots, picnic tables or picnic on the well trimmed grass areas, fishing, picnic for big and small families, volleyball, baseball, walking, running, biking, big playground for the young ones. We've been here about 3 or 4x now, yesterday was the first time we went during a weekend. All areas of the park is being used, family gatherings and such, it was a really fun place. Smiles and laugh everywhere. We still easily found a parking spot close to the trail entrance. I am not a biking aficionado, Im not very good with my balance and I was so relieved that the trail was not intimidating. There's few people that walk and run the trail, mostly used by bikers. It is a concrete trail, we went about 10 miles without having to cross a busy street which was really nice. read more

We enjoy coming to this park. It's great to come walk/run the trails in the morning. Not crowded at all and clean paths. The park is right off the 101 and Thunderbird. It can get pretty busy on the weekends but that's to be expected with any park. There are tons of Ramada's and nice grills to have parties at. There is a little lake that is always filled with ducks, geese and swans. The park itself can use some maintenance as there are spots where the flooring is breaking apart and peeling off. The bigger kids play area is pretty big and the only complaint the kids have is the fact that there are only 4 swings which are usually all full. There is also a smaller play area for the littler ones that has a few baby swings. The kids enjoy it and there is plenty of pretty scenery to walk and get your exercise on. We will continue to come back when the kids want a change from their normal park we go to weekly. read more

This park has so much to offer! We have been to many large events here. They have a large BBQ area and seating. You can even reserve smaller areas thought for picnics and birthday parties. They have 2 playgrounds one for older kids and one for younger. Right now it is under a major remodel amd there are no playgrounds at all. Perfect time tonremodel during covid! Scheduled to open October 2021! You can fish, play on the splash pad, walk or jog, skate at the skate park, fishing, play basketball or baseball. There are plenty of Pokestops and gyms for those hard-core gamers. They have a rec center with a gym you can get a membership to. I came to this nice big park to run a half marathon. There was ample parking, so I had no trouble finding a spot. Before and after the race, I found that there was a nice little pond with different kinds of fowl. There were playgrounds and picnic benches with grills. All of which were covered. Most of the race course was on the New River Trail which were either concrete or asphalt. From what I could tell, the park also had sand volleyball courts, a skatepark, batting cages, and several baseball fields. read more

I'm in love with this park. A few miles from where I work. Inside the park has a great kids area that is next to this amazing cool individual grill station with running faucet. Plenty of picnic tables. There's even a fishing area that has guidelines to what type of fish is in the pond and how many you can catch. The park has a walking bridge that takes you on a walking/biking/running/jogging path. My picture doesn't do justice to the beauty of this place. They also have a skate board area and soccer field. I recently came here to participate in a marathon event and didn't realize how nice this park was until then. Park is operated by the City of Peoria, and this park is huge! 52 acres. They have urban lake, rec center, clean restrooms with drinking fountains. Nice Ramadas, sand volleyball courts, fun playground, batting cage, splash park, skate park, baseball fields to name a few. While looking up this park prior to my race, I notice they host a lot of running events throughout a year. Their running path is relatively flat, certified so their marathon is considered Boston qualifier race, event is small, ideal for those trying to qualify for Boston. I was able to achieve my personal best and that was partly because of flat and easy course they have here. If I live in this area, I would definitely come here often. Race I participated was such a pleasant experience, I am looking for another race to run here in a near future. Plenty of parking at this park, very clean and well maintained. Great park for city of Peoria and nearby residents. read more

This park has three measured pathways you can run from half a mile to two miles. It also has a lot of water features which are nice to look at when you're exercising or taking a stroll. In addition, this park also has a very large playground for families, a small water park feature opened during the summer months, and plenty of parking. We were visiting family from out of state, so our family that lives in Arizona booked a Ramada at the Rio Vista Community Park SPECIFICALLY NEXT TO THE SPLASH PAD so that our KIDS (and the adults) could get wet and cool off while we barbecued. We showed up to the park and there was a handwritten sign outside stating the splash pad was down for maintenance. There was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING listed on their WEBSITE notifying residents before booking. It's 111° outside! Are you kidding me city of Peoria??! Our family booked this less than a week ago and you couldn't do so much as place a notification on your website to let us know your Splash Pad was not working??? Thank you very much for the inconvenience! Excuse me while we burn up out here. Signed, a non-Arizona resident that is not used to this heat. Maintenance needs to do a better job of notifying their residents when these things happen. This was very poorly executed communication. The residents of the city pay your salaries with their tax money! They deserve better! read more

This is one of the many parks I like to visit. It's quite a spectacular park. Every time I come here it's been great. It has a splash pad and playground for the kiddos, a nice covered BBQ / GRILL area, a few smaller ramada area for small parties. A nice bike trail. And excellent for walking. You can fish, and there is a recreational centre in the middle. Excellent amount of parking. There is a nice long deep ravine where you can hide things in. A cool looking bridge that leads you over the ravine and to a community, and also no shortage on duck poop here. Water fountains with delicious water are of plenty. The loo is just like any other loo at other parks. I wouldn't use them unless absolutely must. To be honest I would use the ravine instead. Overall an awesome park, with many things to do for the family. All it really needs is a actual dog park. read more

I came here for a birthday party today and was thoroughly impressed! I can honestly say it is one of the nicest parks I have ever been to. There were baseball fields, volleyball courts, waterways for fishing, a splash pad, and playgrounds with lots of cool features. The splash pad had a lot of fun features for the kids and went on continuously. There were ramadas throughout that you could reserve which had corresponding grills and "counter" space to use. Pretty convenient. The only reason I could not give this a 5 is the range of prices to reserve a ramada. If you are a Peoria resident, it is $30. If not, it is $90 which is a HUGE price difference and steep to bat. Other than that, this is a great place to take the kids.... read more

My favorite park EVER!! IT has something for everyone here. Playgrounds for older and younger kids, awesome splash area, water rivers for fishing and small lakes, lots of trails for walking, a bridge that is fun to cross or take picture on, volley ball courts that have misters to keep you cool and the dust level down from the sand, lots of ramadas that you can rent very cheap if you are a Peoria resident, the inside rec areas has a gym, rock wall climbing, there is a full skateboard area and 2 baseball fields. I think I covered it all LOL!! With all that above how could you not have a good time! The park is very clean and well kept surroundings. My favorite area is the splash park. This has a lot of water toys to play with and my son always has a blast. I do wish that it did not back so close to the stream that runs through the park. Although this is blocked with a gate so kids can not get out and in it, my son has now lost a hat and a toy from throwing them in the water while trying to play with the ducks. Parking is often hard to find on the weekends. Sometimes I have had to follow people to their cars to be able to take their parking spot. This is a down fall but if you are going to a park you shouldn't be too upset if your forced to walk because that is one reason you go to a park in the first place. They do have a great price for season pass to their rec center which allows you to use all the indoor activities. Also has a great after school program for kids. read more

I continue to be impressed with this community park and recreation center. I spent a morning and afternoon with my family at the park area. It was perfect! There are ample spaces for eating, BBQing, and playing. There's a fun water area where kids can spray each other. The bathrooms are kept very clean. Since I was here last, the Starbucks has closed. Grew up playing basketball here always great people and good runs. Recently started to lift weights in the up stairs area. Not even 5 minutes after being up there just checking it out I decided to leave. As I was walking out I was told I can not be upstairs with slides on. My friend replied we are leaving now she then said "don't let the door hit you on the way out". I find this comment extremely rude as all we said was we are leaving now very respectfully.
