The one client that still thinks she can low ball offers like it's 2008? The one who has $5 million tastes on a $400k budget? Yep, that's me. And, yet, this real estate team treats me like a long time family friend (don't you love great client service--it's a rare gem). Agents and brothers, Derick and Troy, have been amazingly patient in trying to help us find the right home as they watch us pick apart 70 year homes as if we were judging brand new homes. And, yet, they keep surprising us by listening to what we want, interpreting what properties we might like, and continue to work diligently to find assets to help on our quest. They are responsive, prompt, and insightful on the millions of market questions we've had, too. They make us feel like their only client, give us great layout ideas when we look at homes, and have a Rolodex of contacts to help us inquire on challenges regarding renovations. I'm not their friend or a family member giving some bogus review...I'm a hardened, take no prisoners consultant from the world's largest consulting firm, where every week we live like it's shark week. I'm not sure how he did it but he also managed to get the sellers to agree to pay all of my closing costs! When a big issue came up during our inspection, Joe negotiated hard on my behalf and got me a brand new AC system rather than just a band-aid fix on the older one. Beyond all of that, Joe recommended a great lender, insurance company and property inspector. Every detail was handled smoothly and proactively. All in all, I have no hesitation saying that he is the best agent I've ever worked with. We later determined that half of the homes living square footage, including an in law suite, kitchen, multiple bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, theatre room were all illegal and constructed w/o permits. Schemmel marketing brochures, MLS, and other marketing materials featured and emphasized the illegal suite and other non permitted illegal aspects of the home. They featured aspects of the home that was in total violation of Sarasota County codes In my experience and opinion, Joel Schemmel and Sothebys International cannot be trusted to accurately market and describe the multi million dollar homes they're offering for sale. The marketing materials and MLS listing provided by Schemmel and Sothebys International were not only misleading, but outright false representation of the home he listed for sale and sold to us.
