I see a nurse practitioner in Freeport every three months for medication management. They are on their third nurse practitioner in two yrs. Everytime one leaves or goes on vacation I don't get my medication refilled. The continuity of care is horrible. I've really never seen anything like it, and I worked in healthcare for 25 yrs. One of the therapists here are highly unprofessional. Her name is Wendy Hurst. She was supposed to specialize in helping me with depression and anxiety. I cut her off as a therapist just today. I am a transgender patient, and she repeatedly misgendered me, forced her religious beliefs onto me by trying to convince me God exists in one of our first sessions, kicked me out after I accidentally broke a fidget toy due to stress and anxiety, touched my fingers when I told her I don't like that and then brushed it off, drove me home from school when she is not on my approved guardians list, and asked me to get into her car to drive me out of town. etc. I highly recommend that if you go here, please find another therapist if you get Wendy. She is unethical and incompetent at her job. Overall, take my experience with a grain of salt because you may find a good therapist here. However, beware of Wendy. read more

as an adict seeking help to recover omg the consler Nicole was not right for me at all she did not address safety concerns or take care of what was needed at all I'm discharging from Harrison campus now against medical advice in order to go to a difrent treatment place. it's a12 step program I've been hear 17 days half way thru the program and Gus what I asked what the 12 steps are and told it doesn't mater cause I don't go thru those steps till later. as a fucking human id like to know all the steps to recover in order to process and get thru them all. hmm do ur jobs and help im a damn adict and open minded they don't want realt want to help. the new conslers and staff wer amazing though there are 3 bright stars that made a big big difference in my life stay and recovery big shout out to a1 a2 wing staff though I hope corporate stops screwing around and starts funding you guys to help more. sincearly Nicky read more

Most staff talks to insurance co, employers, said relatives, but not the patient when they sittting there sober. I can overhear nurse practioners, psych staff talking about clients like they all the same, nobody to ask how feel unless around other people that not really ever have adequate health care before getting on psych meds, which leads to psych meds for depressed malnurished clients that be better off using cannabis and eating healthy without adding alcohol to edibles, just get 3squares/ day. Clients treated like toddlers, told too stupid to really know how they doing anyway, and they told too stupid decide what to say, where and when to go. More people that lie, complain to and about clients as if they know it all and know how to manage a group of clients that is not drinking. Staff overuses any and all emergency contacts until exhausted from calls from case workers, resulting in not want them living at home if sober, because too many case workers call family at work to help. Cocaine abuse is not what they know how to treat, and most addictions require the patient to try to eat right, dress warm. They call clients kids, child, and speak for them, decide for them but staff not as abusive as some parents, but staff should ask, wxplain things tontheir clients when they not drunk, instead of lie, know mean? I am writing this nearly 6 years after being discharged for Rosecrance specifically to deter anyone from admitting to this facility. A large source of my addiction was dude to Psychiatric issue- Bipolar specifically, and I was never prescribed medication nor seen by any mental health professional. This place was a nightmare- no individual freedoms and various meetings/worksheets from the moment you wake up to the time you are forced to bed. The only thing I learned at Rosecrance was how to play Spades on my occasional break. We were able to visit the gym once a week and allowed a "recess" once a day. 4 other opportunities to go outside and smoke, I saw several people pick up smoking just to get outside. I've very recently left a rehab where I was able to develop my own routine and hobbies, reminding me of how awful this facility was. The only thing they got right was putting me in the "high risk" relapse category. No wonder. You're better off with a jail stint than coming here. read more

i was there 2 years ago and didnt plan on writting a review, but i saw a commericial on tv and was genuinley scared for people who arent correcty informed about this place. THERE IS A STAFF MEMBER NAMED JACOB WHO WORKS THERE AND HE PUNCHED NOT ONLY ME IN THE THROAT BUT ANOTHER PATIENT IN THE CHEST. i also viewed one of my roomated being locked in his room as a punishment. people saying that this place is good as long as you put in the work are misinformed, the "groups" that are held are terrible, for starters theres only 2 30 minute groups all day. not only that, the groups are completly optional. there was a patient there who was refused cell phone priviledges. this persons family then made a 4 hour drive up to the hospital because they were worried after not hearing from there son but also, roscrance hadnt been reaching out to the family eaither, I have been to multple different treatment centers, all of them have there ups and downs. but this place is simply criminal and i have no idea how they are still running, the staff cares more about the facility looking good then actaully being good. you are better off waiting a few more weeks to get help then rushing and doing nothing but making your issues worse by going here. read more

First and foremost, if someone doesn't truly want help, there is nothing at all that will help them but themselves. That being said, if one is truly done with their self-destructive behavior then this place will give you the tools to change yourself. I attended Rosecrance's Harrison campus for 36 days, completing their rehabilitation program. While I was there, the staff was AMAZING. The counselors are awesome, and are always willing to listen and help if they can. The unit-techs are amazing at their jobs, I got some of the best advice ever while here. I was told while I was there by other clients that the food sucked - they were TOTALLY WRONG, the food was freaking great. They have all sorts of therapeutic groups and activities - I literally had some of the best times of my entire life at this place. Final word - if you are someone that wants to change for the better, but don't know how, GO HERE! I completed their course and it totally changed my life. Love and respect, Ryan read more

P.S. per my below review ("Nightmare!"): I went back and forth with someone for over a year regarding my issues, & he kept saying he would look into things & get back to me but he ultimately just didn't respond anymore~ which was clearly his strategy all along. I asked him to at least submit ALL of my billed charges to BCBS, including the extra surcharge for 'overnight therapeutic', since they were not aware of those charges at all~ but he kept stalling and never followed through. My out-of-pocket costs were nearly double because of it. Had I known what I was in for, I would have gone somewhere else, because that is what I later had to do anyway. When I arrived there, the alcohol part was only secondary to the fact that I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, & I thought that the place was also a mental health facility. I was wrong. For anyone with private insurance, Rosecrance is a scam. Besides the money, I wasted my time. I was away from my family & work for no reason. I get it that a lot of those bratty girls in my unit need discipline, but that's not me. I was treated like a rogue 5-year-old the whole time I was there & it was awful, humiliating, and counterproductive. read more

i went here a few years back and this facility is simply amazing! gives you structured routine, insightful classes, continues regular school work, and helps set you up with half way housing if you are eligible. also provides you with outpatient treatment in your home town, and information for all NA and AA groups you can go to around you. also provides contact information for help if you ever need it. and the physical facility itself it's amazing quality with a chapel, a game room , an art room, botanical center, a lake, and so much more. read more

This review is in regards to the Harrison Campus. First and foremost I am a Licensed Social Worker(LSW) and have much experience working with individuals and can speak from a clinical perspective. If I could rate Rosecrance below 1 star, I would do the complete possible lowest rating. I had 3 family members at the same time admitted into this facility after they had already completed detox at a hospital in Chicago, from drug addiction. My closest family member was discharged from the hospital with Suboxone. If you are not familiar, this medication is commonly used to help addicts function as they are eventually titrated off the medication. The intention from the hospital (this was also the clients PCP) was to have my family member take this medication over the ENTIRE course of treatment at Rosecrance (this was also written in the discharge paper work). Rosecrance immediately took my family member off this medication. Within 24 hours of being at Rosecrance, my family member became extremely sick. She had no motivation, was in tears because of the joint pain, and was experiencing symptoms of depression. The Suboxone is what treats ALL of these symptoms. She advocated for herself, as did I, to get ANY TYPE of medical treatment. The doctors are rarely at the facility and clearly are not fit practitioners. Long story short, all 3 of these people in treatment there, did not receive adequate medical treatment. They eventually had put my family member on Neltrexone. After taking this and still being told to take it, my family member experienced severe migraines (so bad to where she was vomiting) and constant nausea. My family member went to her PCP (today actually) 3 weeks after discharge. The doctor was absolutley stunned by the medication choices made by Rosecrance physicians. And shocker, what do you know...a major side effect of Neltrexone is headaches and nausea. Per his words, "I will never send any patients there again." He also mentioned that all the doctors or ANY STAFF MEMBER had to do, was to call him and he would have told them to keep her (my family member) on the Suboxone. The medication problems were for sure the biggest flaw of this facility, but in addition; messages from the front office are never given to clients, nobody answers the phone even if you are the clients emergency contact, you can leave messages but don't ever expect a call back and clients rarely see their individual therapist and obviously even more rarely will they have the chance to see a doctor. All three of my family members were and still are motivated in their sobriety. They forced themselves to stay at Rosecrance because they want a change in their life (and due to insurance coverage). Now clean and sober, all 3 of them are able to discuss the terrible medical treatment and lack of help they received at Rosecrance. My recommendation, if your insurance allows, is absolutley DO NOT send your loved ones or anyone you know to Rosecrance. read more

My son has been in Rosecrance for 28 days, and they are kicking him out to a homeless shelter, and say they can't help him there. They have no discharge plan, and offer no help. He has a sensory integration disorder, and is very sensitive to chewing noises. He cuts himself and has been suicidal for 5 years. He couldn't stand the other patients sipping coffee and making slurping noises during class, so he used his disability accommodation of using earplugs to drown out the noise. They told him he wasn't participating, and kicked him out. The "professionals" have no idea what to do, or how to help. They just use up your insurance then kick them out, no real help, and when it doesn't work, they blame the patient. My son put himself in voluntarily, and could leave at any time, but he chose to go there for help, and they are saying they can't help him, and kicked him to the curb.
