    The Jeter House

This weekend was my 2nd time to stay at The Jeter House. The first time we came to investigate the history of hauntings, along with a couple of other paranormal groups and the atmosphere couldn't have been better! We got several great EVPs in the Carriage House, as well as a couple in the main house. We definitely want to go back to see if we can catch something on video as well! This weekend was a "girl's" weekend and the owners, Lola and Mark, were just as much a part of our little group as we were and we wouldn't have had nearly as much fun and laughter without them!! The breakfast was excellent, the made to order coffee and expressos were like being served VIP at a coffee house and we were even allowed to stay in the carriage house (though it isn't quite ready for the public). This home makes you feel as though you have stepped into the past with lovely exposed wood in the entrance foray and the layout of the house. The restorations going on will be a long and slow process I am sure, but I love the feel of the house just the way it is and the wonderful owners make it all the better! I will be returning as often as I possibly can!

My boyfriend and I visited…read moreMineola for a wedding and decided to try to book a hotel last minute - (not thinking that Mineola is a small town and there is NOT a plethora of hotel options! Ha!). My whole family ended up staying at the Best Western (which I heard NOT the best choice after their stay...) and we were in a hunt to find an affordable option that didn't include infestations of ANY sorts. We stumbled upon the Munzesheimer Manor on Hotels.com and I was slightly hesitant from the price, but there was only one room available (The Kringle Cottage) in the entire town and I emailed an inquiry to Ashlee. Just from her email, I felt sincerely welcomed and right at home, so even though the price was a little more than we initially wanted to pay, we booked! My next email to her had to deal with food preferences. The last thing I wanted to be was a bother, but since the price included breakfast, I thought I would ask if she would have any options without meat, dairy, or egg (vegan). I was happy to make other accommodations if that wasn't an option, but she happily emailed me back with an "of course!" without hesitation. We were THRILLED. She mentioned that she had a gluten free guest staying that same weekend and she is always cooking for allergies or preferences. So not only was Ashlee going to provide us with food, but when we got back from the wedding, there were freshly baked vegan brownies on our bed! (Jaw dropped with hungry drool!). In the morning she greeted us on our porch with hot tea (our preference over coffee) and at 9am we walked into the dining room to gourmet meals and beautifully set table with freshly squeezed OJ, maple chia seed pudding with fresh fruit, and German pancakes with a fresh strawberry drizzle. (Food cherubs singing!!) Besides the food and fabulous service, our Kringle Cottage was the cutest damn thing west of the Mississippi!! We had our own little porch with swing and all, a claw foot tub with an adorable heated furnace nearby, and the year-round comfort (I don't care how old you are!) of Christmas decorations and cheer! It was the BEST B&B/hotel/motel stay we have EVER had! If you are even thinking twice about booking a room here or thinking of swinging through this sweet little town, PLEASE DO!! If we ever drive up to Dallas again, we will be going out of our way to stay here! :) Can't say enough about the sweet southern hospitality we received.

When we got in our first night all of the room keys were not working so anytime we left our room we would have to stop by the front desk to have them use a master key to come let us back in. This was an inconvenience for sure. Luckily when we got back after work the next evening they had it fixed. Anthony at the front desk was funny and really nice which was appreciated during a not so thrilling dilemma. Then came the morning.... I hopped into the shower for it so be absolutely freezing cold. I ended up having to take cold showers my entire stay. Also I some how managed to only have conditioner in my shower, no shampoo. I will say I love the smells and tingling feel of the tea tree conditioner they have. Although the tingling feeling of the conditioner just seemed to exacerbate the fact that I was taking a cold shower.

When I was presented the option the front desk staff and manager said "you MUST do the 5,000 points, it's such a better deal". Little did I know the $25 Amazon gift card costs 10,000 points online. Receiving the 5,000 points did not make any sense, it was the short end of the deal. Is this a marketing tactic to keep customers locked in with points? Why would Marriott tell their employees to lie to customers by saying 5000 points is better than a $25 Amazon gift card when it isn't based on facts. I was so disappointed when I visited their website and saw that I got shafted when I was really interested in the $25 Amazon gift card. The staff is usually nice but this method of shafting their customers is inexcusable.
