This is Rocky Mount, VA's version of Big Lots. Same odd selection of inexpensive items that look like rejects from other stores, and things that you just don't find anywhere else because they won't sell in big stores. Store was clean, staff was friendly, and the prices aren't bad, but its one of those "stop here only if you need to" kinda places. read more

This store reminds me of a watered down version of Big Lots (and not as nice). The store was large and clean. I found some inexpensive perfume and a storage box with a cow pattern on it. I have an obsession for anything cow. I would have bought ever single package but only one had the matching lid. All of the other packages were open and missing items. There were lot of inexpensive clothing items but the material looked cheap. I looked at each section during my visit. There were two employees who were complaining to each other during most of my visit. Debbie was "working" sort of while her coworker leaned back against a display and just chatted. If a customer approached them and interrupted their personal chat, one of them would point you in the direction of what you needed (not moving from their spot). Then they would continue their chat. I know much more about Debbie and her friend (and their families) than I do about where those matching cow patterned lids are located. If you are in the area, you may find an inexpensive snack or toiletry item. I would not drive out of my way to visit this location. If you go, say hi to Deb for me. read more

I love Roses Stores and I have since I was a little girl. I love the Rocky Mount, VA location because it is still one of the larger Roses. Even when I am in Roanoke, Lynchburg, Altavista, Chatham or Danville, VA I go to the Roses Stores. Even when I lived in Atlanta, GA I found two Roses and I loved them. I love the nice selection of dresses, shoes, purses, and apparel for great prices. I always get compliments on my dresses, shoes, and handbags and a lot of people think I have the most expensive ones. Also I got the best deal last summer on the resin Wicker 3 piece outdoor furniture. This included a love seat, chair, and a table with a glass top. They came in three colors - white, Gray, and brown and they were $150 on sale for the 3 piece set. I bought two sets - one for each of my daughters and they loved them and they still look great ! They have received many compliments from their family and friends and they thought they had paid at least 4x more for them. I enjoy shopping for a variety of items include household, furniture & accessories - at Rocky Mount, VA and Martinsville, VA stores, health & beauty items, food, toys, and many more items. There used to be a Roses store in Bedford , VA many years ago as a Maxway store. Maxway also is part of Variety Wholesalers and I enjoy these stores too. read more
