The proprietors, Cindy and Lou, were wonder, warm and friendly hosts. They made us feel right at home. The bed and breakfast was clean and tastefully decorated. I generally prefer a less homey feel, but the Rose Garden was quite nice. Flowers adorned the entrance and spilled over into a beautiful backyard garden, giving the place a lovely, homey feel. As for breakfast, the breakfast was delicious. It was delicious with just the right balance of decadence and moderation. The first morning we had blueberry waffles, cooked to absolute perfection, with grilled pineapple and a small side of scramble eggs. Lou has a passion for cooking and it is shows through in the breakfast. As for the bed, the bed was, unfortunately, the most uncomfortable I have slept on in recent memory. We stayed in the English Rose Room. We had a roomy king-sized bed, but I had to move to the day bed to sleep because the bed was just too uncomfortable. It was too hard, yet not quite supportive. I am a sensitive sleeper and have a great bed at home, so everyone may not have this experience. I did, however. We found that the problem could be solved by sleeping on top of the blankets for an added level of comfort. I think a feather bed or a new mattress would make this the perfect B&B in Rochester. If you can sleep on a hard, inner-spring mattress, you will absolutely love this place.

Unfortunately, the gym had no working air at all. That said, the unit in my room worked very well, and the ceiling fan over the bed made a big difference in keeping things cool overnight. The studio layout was thoughtful, with clean furniture and a comfortable setup that made it easy to settle in for a few days. The property is set back from major roads, so it was nice and quiet throughout my stay. The breakfast bar was well stocked and about what you'd expect. Staff were friendly, transparent about any issues, and genuinely apologetic where needed. The entry and lounge areas were also nicely designed and welcoming. I'd definitely consider staying here again.

Cons: 1. The master bedroom was not the biggest space. I didn't have a ton of trouble getting around but it just would've been nicer to have more space. The living room area was spacious though. 2. Although I eventually got my lost item back, it wasn't the easiest process. At one point they told us it wasn't there at all. It took hours for someone to confirm the location of my laptop backpack. They should have walkie talkies to improve communication 3. There's not a lot of good shaded parking spaces. So if you're coming in the summer, be prepared! Your car will become a sauna! 4. The bathroom door was waaay too close to the toilet. You basically can't open or close it all the way without hitting your legs. It was EXTREMELY frustrating! They really need to fix that. Pumpkin Patch Train Ride Is a fun activity for the whole family. I love train rides, and this one…read moredid not dissapoint, although the actual ride is short. At the train station there are restrooms, gift shop, food vendor and a petting pet area. The ride go to the train museum where several train cabooses are on display and one can climb up and explore. The pumpkin patch is a small area to play. Hot cider and donuts are sold and there are plenty of tables and benches to rest and savor these goodies. A train model exhibit is monitor and kept by the volunteers. A fun filled Autumn morning.

Rides are every half hour and advance ticket purchases can be purchased online. We rode the open air car for about 10 mins then it reverses backwards towards the train displays. We got off and walked around the grounds. There were two rows of trains to view/photo ops. Inside the building there were two train cars we could walk through and a nice model train display. Plus, they offered complimentary animal crackers and juice for kids. Outside around the corner is another car you can enter where a nice gentleman with a wealth of knowledge explains the history of the signals and levers. It's small quarters so only one family is allowed in at a time. They also have a small area called the pumpkin patch where your ticket includes a pumpkin to take home for each kid. When the next group was dropped off, we waited to board again to take us back to the original loading spot. Same route. Overall, a nice first time experience for the kids to ride and get up close to trains.

They even took the time to learn my name which made my stay more personal. Deborah was extremely nice and understanding when I called her to let her know I will be checking in late due to a bachelorette party. On top of that, she's an excellent cook! I looked forward to breakfast each morning and I was never disappointed! She was even thoughtful enough to make Mickey Mouse pancakes for my friend's 3 year old daughter which made her smile in the morning. Her husband Richard was joy to converse with and has an extensive knowledge about the property and history. My room (Skivington) had a rustic charm to it with big windows facing the garden. The room has fantastic views of the pond and the nature around it. There is a variety of birds on the property and Richard can probably tell you the breed. They also do a great job with cleaning the rooms. I would definitely stay here again if I'm in the area. It's only a mile away from the Genesee Country Village and Museum and a short ride to a bunch of wineries. Thank you Deborah and Richard for the amazing experience!

This includes checking in and any other needs you may have during your stay. This hotel only has 4 hotel room units (located on the 3rd floor) to book for your stay and each room has their own theme. So booking in advance is a must. Also when booking you get to choose the room you would like to stay in. Unlike franchise hotel chains, there is no front desk, bell boys, lobby, or swimming pool areas. This may not appeal to the traditional family vacation travelers, this is more of a couples getaway. This building is shared with other businesses such as, the Attorneys office of Webster Schubel Meier (2nd floor). Shirt factory and the tasting meadery room of Meadworks ( both on the 1st floor). I loved the fact we had to be self reliant, but as independent as we were. We still had available to us customer service all being available through their texting service. The room was quite nice. I really like the simple old world look with a touch of modern styling. The room came with a mini fridge, cable tv, and Wi-Fi. There was no microwave or kitchen area, but there is a area in the hallway with a microwave to use. The bed was nice and comfortable as well as the pillows. The 4 large windows was a nice feature as well, having the light shine in was great. Being on the 3rd floor we had a great view of the village, and the farmers market (every Saturday). Looking forward to coming back.
