We stayed at Rosewood Country Inn while traveling through the area and unfortunately found the property poorly maintained and the overall experience uncomfortable. We were traveling with our two children and chose the inn because it appeared to be a traditional New England property in a convenient location. Condition of the Property: The building and interiors appear not to have been updated in decades. Much of the furniture, fixtures, and decor looked extremely worn and outdated. Rather than feeling historic or charming, the property felt neglected. Cleanliness: Several areas of the inn appeared poorly maintained and not particularly clean, which made it difficult to relax in the room or common areas. Management Interaction: Our interaction with the manager, Stan, was uncomfortable. He came across as dismissive and unwelcoming, which made the stay feel even more awkward. Overall Atmosphere: The general condition of the building was unsettling enough that our children were actually frightened and asked if we could leave and stay somewhere else. While the location could be appealing, the property seems to need significant updates, improved upkeep, and a more welcoming approach to guests. read more

Attended a themed murder mystery weekend here, and it was amazing. The inn is beautiful, the hosts and staff are astounding, the food was great, the murder was well..murdery. I could truely go on and on, but actually I suggest you get your butt to this place and enjoy a long weekend with our without a special event. (note they do weddings here so it books up!). Just go. Go for the breakfasts, go for the dinners, go and ask Stan for some house-smoked meats! Seriously, these people are amazing, the space is special, and the complete quiet (and darkness at night) are a wonderful relief. Note: Cell signal is poor at best. Wifi is available, but really...don't do it, unplug for a few days. read more

This is a lovely, lovingly decorated and maintained B&B located on a quiet road outside Bradford. The Inn uses green practices and sources locally. The main level has multiple seating areas with wood floors, upholstered traditional furniture, occasional tables, a bar area, and a dining room overlooking the beautiful grounds. The innkeeper lives on premises and attends to every detail - including the amazing three-course breakfasts that are served at reserved seating times from around 8 to 9:30 a.m. Breakfast included a variety of juices, fresh hot muffin of some type, then a cold course - one morning it was chilled strawberry creme soup, the next it was fresh melon and strawberries. The main course was an egg bake one morning and orange french toast with maple syrup the next. There was a yogurt and granola choice for vegetarians. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. All the rooms were upstairs. The stairway was wide and carpeted, so it wasn't too difficult to move luggage up. There was a well-thought out closet in the hallway furnished with a full-sized refrigerator, coffee maker, dishes, honor bar with snacks, and recycling bins. We stayed in room 9 which was generously sized and had a fireplace and corner windows overlooking the grounds. The windows caused it to be warm in the afternoon but the in-wall air conditioner took care of that. The bathroom was very large, with two sinks, a large walk-in shower with double shower heads and an exhaust fan. The bathroom was up two steps from the bedroom which was somewhat of an issue for an older adult with us. There was a night light but we were concerned about tripping coming out of the bathroom at night - most people wouldn't expect steps. No mishaps however. Decor was green and dark rose, lots of silk floral arrangements. The high queen bed had a beautiful lace canopy. Ah, yes, about the bed, the mattress was the only fly in the ointment (see when you stay in the country you start to come up with homey sayings)--the bed was so hard that we had trouble getting comfortable. Free wi-fi was a lifesaver as we could get no cell service at all. The beautifully maintained and landscaped grounds were an unexpected bonus. The property is gently rolling and surrounded by woods. There's a small pond, plantings of lilies, hostas and other cottage garden plants, and a wonderful backyard seating area. It was truly a relaxing place to stay. read more

Rosewood is a beautiful B&B owned by the nicest couple. We stayed for a ski weekend in March 2016 and had such a great experience. The building itself has a lot of history - built in the 1850s, it's housed many famous figures like Charlie Chaplin. The owners have done a great job in maintaining the building and all the rooms. The bedrooms are unique, each with its own theme and decorated with care and thought to give the place a homey and cozy feel. We stayed in the Mary Pickford suite, absolutely loved the room decor and the bed was super comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic!! The owners served us three courses each morning. Some highlights: the pina colada muffins (so moist and served warm right out of the oven), lemon poached pears, and the mushroom and potato frittatas (the fluffiest frittata I've ever had). They also baked cookies every evening for a nice little treat before bed. Rosewood is a short drive from Sunapee and Pats Peak, making it an excellent choice for an overnight ski trip. Id definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a weekend getaway in New Hampshire. You'll fall in love with the place, just like I did! read more

Quintessential back country new England B&B. Feels like the middle of nowhere, but Mt. Sunapee is just a few miles away. We arrived late and tired. The owners left clear instructions to enter and find our way to very comfortable bed and nights rest. The room was country small, and beautifully designed. We woke to tasty, homemade buffet and a great conversation with innkeeper and chef, Stan. We finished our stay with a walk around the property. Adorable!! The staff is super friendly and helpful. We arrived at our room and noticed that the pipes to the sink were frozen. They immediately set us up in another bigger and better room at no charge! No questions even asked. They were truly incredible. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was nice. My husband and I were fortunate enough to try this Inn with a Living Social coupon. As it turned out, several of the other guests were too. We arrived on a Wednesday night to find fine tidbits awaiting us in the bar. The bruschetta was excellent and the company varied from NJ, MA and NY. We were shown our room, the Douglas Fairbanks with jacuzzi tub for two, and treated to a bottle of Merlot. The room was quaint, in an old version of B&B with florals and lots of pillows. It was clean and large. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful! The service quick and personable. The breakfast I had consisted of poached pear, fresh-baked muffin, and spinache and bacon strata and fresh fruit. Fantastic! The housekeeping staff was extremely friendly and kind. They greeted us quickly and by name and our room was clean before the end of breakfast. Since some of the vacant room door's were left open, we could see several other rooms in the Inn - admitedly more updated than ours, and lovely. Ask for a larger room. As a cautionary tale, there were some updates needed at the inn - I'd recommend less decorative pillows, clean up and/or remove all the fake plants (especially since the owner is an avid gardner), and update the coverlets. Also, if you're planning on taking your expensive vehicle or motorcycle - be aware that a very short section on road up to the inn is dirt. It does lead to a romantic, beautiful vista and privacy! I am WAY late in writing this but better late than never! My boyfriend and I stayed here last November (2012) after purchasing the Living Social deal. When I first arrived, i was a bit panicked because I realized we had zero cell phone reception. But it turns out- it probably was for the best! Back to reality. TALKING with people =) Everything from our room, to the ambiance, to the wonderful people who greeted us was awesome. The breakfast was AMAZING!!! Omg. We still talk about it to this day. Our room came with an incredible double headed shower, a fireplace and lots of beautiful views of nature. If you're looking for a quiet get away from a busy life, this is the perfect spot. So peaceful. And the owners are so friendly and accommodating. We recently moved to San Diego, CA but I am hoping to find a similar B&B that provides the same quality service as we experienced at Rosewood. Thank you again! read more

First time here with a living social coupon....This was an amazing get away! Our room was perfectly clean and comfortable and cool. My spouse and I love nature so we walked around and enjoyed the quietness of nature. The owner was so sweet and a wonderful hostess. There is no negatives about this inn. The breakfast...amazing...even my spouse..who is so into processed food loved the farm fresh breakfast!!! Fresh muffins..fresh fruit and freshly baked stuffed croissants. Great stay at the rosewood inn. Girlfriend and I came for a day trip at sunapea mountain. The Inn is very convenient to get to and the cleanliness of the room was outstanding. New owners off to a great start , We booked a one night stay for a family gathering , upon arrival the owners discovered our aging mom could not make it to the upper levels without difficulty , they promptly offered us an extra room on a lower level at no additional cost , this is the kind of service you get when dealing with actual owners rather than a corporate enterprise . The rooms were tastefully decorated with all the necessary comforts readily at hand and the surrounding grounds were soothing and inviting. The rich history of this Bed and Breakfast was enthusiastically conveyed to us by the new owners , and was a pleasure to know that the likes of Charlie Chaplin , Jack London , Mary Pickford and others have graced the halls and rooms nearly a century ago. The three course breakfast was spot on , starting with a warm homemade muffin and a warm blueberry stuffed croissant, ending with a poached pear dressed with strawberry and strawberry sauce, a great experience over all , I can highly recommend the Roswood Country Inn. read more

Don't forget to have a relaxing in room massage with Diane. The rooms are kept immaculate by Toni. As you can see, staying at the the Rosewood Country Inn is like being at home, but pampered. Three course gourmet breakfasts are so delicious and creative. They also cater to your every dietary need. I have stayed there in July, which was relaxing and peaceful. I have also stayed there in October and was surrounded by the beautiful autumn foliage. Definitely give the Rosewood Country Inn a try. You'll be tempted to return again and again. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. Others mentioned something about dirt roads getting there, but they all seem to be paved now. Breakfast and hor deurves were good. The owner(s) are friendly and responsive. Jefferson room was nice with one issue that I'll mention below. Overall we had a good time. We've stayed at a lot of bed and breakfasts in NH. This probably wasn't the best but it was in the top five. Couple of odd things, the owner said we could not take our own wine from our room by law. First time anyone at any B&B in NH (or anywhere) has told us this. Heck, some of the other B&B's we went to have fridges with free wine and some liquor in them. Maybe it's a legal quirk because they have a bar in the Inn, but it seems more like a desire to get people to use the bar. The second odd thing is a room issue which disturbed us a bit. The first morning we opened up the shower the floor was covered with mouse droppings. I turned on the the shower to rinse them down, but I couldn't get it to all run down and we used the hot tub instead. Later, I found the maid and she cleaned it up and was very apologetic. There is no reason for a mouse to go in the shower stall. There was a panel off the side of the spa in the bathroom when we arrived and I suspect someone who had been working on that emptied the droppings in the shower but cleaning wasn't notified afterwards to clean it up. read more

The Rosewood Country Inn is a wonderful country inn that is warm and inviting. I stay at the inn on a weekly basis due to business in the area and Stan and Odo always make me feel so at home. Stan is a wonderful cook and serves up a delicious 3 course breakfast. I am a runner and Stan and Odo went out of their way to map out local running routes for me. Last night there was a knock on my door and I was brought warm banana bread. They truly go the extra mile and couldn't be more accommodating. Yes, the Mtn rd will soon be paved to this lovely Victorian B&B. We have traveled much more rugged turain, but once arriving to our destination with a warm welcome, we felt like relatives coming home. Our lovely little quaint room was Abigal Adams Suite. It was one of the smallest accommodations, but very romantic. We were fortunate to find this 'jewel in the ruff' for a two nite stay in NH. Proprietor, Leslie, is so dedicated to her lovely B&B of 30 yrs and wonderful three course breakfast prepared by her daily is a treat itself! Fake flowers mentioned filled areas in a very tasteful fashion with clear mini lights thru out giving a warm peaceful glow in the antique furnished surroundings. I personally think if they were removed or cleaned up, it would leave a void in her country Victorian home. The Apple Seed Restuarant recommended for dinner was conveniently close by with great variety of country fixings and cordial staff was a great way to end a long day of travel thru NH leaf peeping! We stayed here as a couple this past weekend, Feb. 1st-3rd, 2014. It was both of our first times at a bed and breakfast so we weren't too sure what to expect, but it was absolutely amazing. We stayed in the Nathaniel Hawthorne suite with a fireplace and private jacuzzi for 2, which was perfect after a day of skiing and snowboarding at the nearby Pat's Peak mountain. The breakfast was 3 courses each morning (a muffin, a fruit, and a larger meal- frittata one day, pancakes the next). We were welcomed warmly, and enjoyed hors d'ouevres at the bar the first night, and enjoyed a bottle of red wine as part of our welcome package. There were a bunch of deer grazing in the backyard that were absolutely beautiful to look at. Everyone was so warm and helpful and welcoming throughout our entire stay, it made it so hard to leave! I would DEFINITELY recommend this place to anyone looking to get away for a nice quiet, peaceful, and relaxing weekend. It is very clean, cozy, and the owner Lesley and her staff make you feel right at home. The only downside is that there aren't many restaurants nearby so it's about a 20 minute drive to town for dinner, but the views are spectacular and the experience is one we are never going to forget. A beautiful historic inn in a bucolic setting. We were in town for a funeral and didn't spend much time at the inn, but we will definitely make a point of returning in happier circumstances to enjoy the hospitality and gorgeous setting. We arrived well after the usual check-in time, and the innkeeper graciously met us at the door, helped us in, and made sure we were comfortable. We had to be out fairly early the next day and could not partake of the full-service breakfast, but the hostess made sure we had coffee and homemade blueberry muffins to take with us on the road. Our room was quiet, clean, and very comfortable. The drive to the inn took some twists and turns, but all the roads were paved, and our Google Maps GPS service had no trouble leading us directly there with no mishaps. There was plenty of parking available in a well-lit area. The only drawback was that we had absolutely no cell phone service at the inn or the surrounding area. But, if we had been there for vacation instead of a funeral this would certainly have been a bonus. Overall, our experience at the inn was fantastic. Two thumbs up! read more
