Highly recommend this place! Sunapee lake was a light walk away. We lit a fire to end our night...and thanks to Janelle, made s'mores! Janelle was very attentive and kind to us. Her welcoming personality made us feel right at home. Stayed in a king sized room. It and bathroom were clean. It was a pleasant, homey, and modern ambiance as the rooms were newly renovated. Love love love this place!!! The staff is second to none. They were extremely accommodating from start to finish. The place is spotless and the we loved the rustic style theme. They have a very nice indoor good sized pool which we thoroughly enjoyed. They have a game room and a recreation room downstairs near the pool. They also have an outside fire pit which they offered to light up for us if we wanted. Also an added bonus is there is an Irish restaurant with a full bar right next door, plus local restaurants within minutes too. We were scheduled to stay one overnight here and we moved on to our next hotel the next day and ended up leaving with out staying due to a bad reception desk. The bluebird welcomed us back with out issue. It was just the best experience as it should be and then some. We will definitely be going back. read more

This place is totally adorable. They've done a good job making it up to date without going totally overboard. It's very comfortable and clean. It's walking distance to a clean, refreshing lake for swimming and next to a great ski shop. We also loved their indoor pool, very old-school. It's too bad they don't have anywhere for breakfast but that's not the end of the world; they have coffee and refrigerators in the rooms. Would absolutely return. read more

What a nice, clean hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating. We stayed there for a wedding across the street at the ski resort and really enjoyed hanging out at the hotel when not doing the wedding festivities! My wife and I highly recommend this hotel. read more

3 stars if you're looking for a fancy 5 star place. If you're looking for a family friendly hotel practically on the mountain, this is it. Only has a pool (that the kids love.) Head to the spa across the street at Mountain's Edge and you can use their hot tub. This is a no frills hotel with Jimmy Dean sandwiches for a quick breakfast before you hit the slopes. Shuttle starts at 10a but if you go early enough you'll get great parking anyway. It's on my short list of places to return to! read more

Great location when going to the Mount Sunapee adventure park...literally a 3 minute drive away. I found the price high considering the condition of the place. Room looked like it hasn't been swept after the last few visitors. The mini fridge while nice to have, wasn't all that cold. Looked like someone ripped the shower curtain rod out of the wall and they just put it back up higher without filling the holes or patching the wall paper. The staff was very friendly and seemed to know the area well. The bed was big and comfortable which helped. The pool...nice size, only 5' deep...holy chlorine!!!! My eyes hurt all night but being able to go for a dip made up for it. Management should consider power washing the exterior of the building sometime soon....not only would it look better...it might help you get rid of the thousands of spiders you have living in your siding!!! I went out after dark to smoke and was pretty skeeved out! The breakfast was eh...broken orange juice dispenser - so every now and then the poor front desk guy would have to come fill up a pitcher! The apple juice was tasteless. The pancake machine...while intriguing, made rubber pancakes...not enough syrup in the world to force those down. I recommend you play it safe and go with cereal or toast! I didn't hate it so much I would leave....but I was disappointed and don't seeing myself staying here in the future. Great place, great location, great staff. Nothing but good stuff to say about Sunapee Lake Lodge. The staff was very helpful as soon as I walked in the doors and for the entire stay. I asked to go in the pool and they kept it open for me to take a swim after my long day of snowboarding. The rooms were cleaned very well and spacious for my girlfriend, myself and all of our snowboarding equipment. Breakfast was in the morning was simple, easy, and filling. There is a shuttle that picks you up to take you to the mountain and runs very often giving that the mountain is about 2 minutes away. I will be staying here for my next visit. read more

I have stayed at this lodge several times over the years when I visit Mount Sunapee. The staff was always friendly and accommodating. Best of all, it was very cost friendly and you can't get a better location! It's right at the base of the mountain. Rooms weren't anything special, just typical hotel rooms but they were clean and staff provided great recommendations to nearby restaurants. read more

Stayed here for a wedding because it was much cheaper than the hotel across the road. We stayed in a king room and the bed was super comfortable. What made this hotel a 5 star for me was the staff. Everyone there is super nice, from the front desk to house keeping. One of the front desk workers made sure we knew when an event was moved so that we wouldn't miss it. And house keeping made the room so clean, and even gave us a bag for some left overs we had left out! If I'm ever in the area again I would stay here. The price is right, the beds are clean and comfortable, and the staff is so friendly! read more

Nothing fantastic, especially for the price. The breakfast provided was average. The room seemed decently clean. It's conveniently located next to a restaurant if you want to pop out for food or drinks. I was looking forward to using the Best Western's pool but when I went there were spiders along the floor of it - not swimable, if you ask me! read more

This place has obviously improved much since the reviews i saw from 2013: I was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the place and the amenities. We got in at 12:30 AM and the person at the desk (Corrick? unsure how to spell) was incredibly helpful and we felt welcomed and glad to rest in comfortable beds. The person in the morning whose name I didn't catch was kind and helpful as well. Everything felt very clean and quiet, and the pool was a welcome extra! Honestly I want to travel back to NH just to go back and stay again sometime. read more

I should have known something was wrong at breakfast, as I waited for the milk provided by the hotel to defrost in the microwave (yes, they freeze their milk in the carton and thaw it right in front of you), when the only apparent staff member in sight began to reconstitute their orange juice with a frozen can, a wooden spoon, and a bucket-- right there, in the "dining room." And about two days too late (we were checking out that morning and until that point had pined for some juice, glaring at the empty dispenser). My partner and I stayed there for a weekend, and while Digby's next door is fantastic (they make their own mozzarella and ciabatta!) the "free complete breakfast" that the hotel boasts on its website is really kind of insulting once you get there. Unless you enjoy frozen walmart white bread toast and watching a teenager unceremoniously "fix eggs" by pouring a carton of "substitute" into an EggGenie upon order. We tried to pocket some apples and oranges for the road on the last day, but didn't bother in the end, because who wants fruit that was clearly rejected and thrown off the back of a truck? Go for the skiing and eat at Digby's. The beds are comfortable and the price is right. But for the love of god, skip the breakfast. read more

We had a house fire, and had arrangements made to stay here for our final 3 nights before we could return home. Then, after living in hotels for the last two months, we able to go back home sooner than anticipated. How exciting, right?! Only to find out we were still going to be charged a cancellation fee. I understand cancellation policies, but after a family has already endured so much already? I would think there would be a little compassion and empathy for cases like these. read more

Stayed here for one night and was better than I expected. Rooms were very clean and mostly updated. Nice linens on beds. Very nice gentleman at check in and helpful with directions and tips on where to go. Close to Lake Sunapee Beach- a nice walk over. Also tight next to restaurant and pub which had delicious food and nice vibe. Would certainly stay again. read more

Rating is 2.5 stars. Staff is friendly, knowledgable and attentive. Alayna at the front desk was awesome. Rooms are clean. Location is convenient to Sunapee attractions. Beds are very soft and bordering on uncomfortable as I prefer a firm bed. Plenty of pillows of varying firmness. Bathroom is basic with thin towels. Pool was ok. Full breakfast...meh, fresh cooked eggs or meat was not provided, however frozen breakfast sandwiches were. With limited "chain" accomodations in the area, this hotel is an ok value for the price. read more

Friendly staff and relatively clean, but a terrible value for the price. Our room had a worn out uncomfortable mattress, smelled musty, had a tub that would not drain, was too crowded with furniture, had no place to put the ironing board within reach of an outlet, had impossible-to-control room temperature, and had a door that would not latch close without putting full body weight into it and slamming it closed (great at 1am). New management was visiting and inspecting when we were there. Hopefully they will improve the accommodations, but I'd say stay elsewhere. read more

This is the thrid time that we have stayed here. And I must say this time it is starting to show its age. However don't let that deter you. This place is a diamond that is a little rough right now. And for the most part it is only cosmetics. With a little work this place could be the BEST in the region, and heres why. The staff is great. Very helpful and attentive. The owners of this property should be commending them. The rooms are clean, the beds are very comfortable. The free breakfast is ok..they are trying very hard. The free shuttle to Mount Sunapee is awesome. Free wi-fi throughout hotel area.Great value for good sking and riding and lodging. The resturant on site was just taken over by new owners last month in (December 2011). If they can keep up with the busy weekends, they are posied to do great things and I wish them luck. The food was good and staff was great. It was a little slow, but I think that was because of the amount of people on a Saturday night. Now here's what I think could use some work. The pool is very nice. Small but great for kids. However it was a little cold. Would like to see them add a hot tub for older bones to relax after sking. The hotel has some great amenities like a sledding hill and ice skating rink that they set up when the weather cooperates. This year I understand that, however we have not seen it set up in years past either. So in summary, with a little updating. this place would be the best spot in the area for a value packed ski get-away. read more

We stayed here on a weeknight. The hotel is well located relative to the ski area and beach, though a bit distant from towns, for those of us who like walking around. There is a good restaurant (Salt Hill Pub) right next door though. The hotel is very generic looking, doesn't have much personality, but it definitely does the job. Well-maintained, clean rooms, comfortable beds. Our room was on the lake side, very quiet. WiFi worked great, which was a definite plus as our T-Mobile phones otherwise got no signal in the area. The pool was nice and just the right water and air temperature. Breakfast was adequate but totally forgettable, nothing home-made. All in all, an OK place for a short stay before hitting the slopes. read more
