This place was kind of nuts, we were told to go here by our new best friends at the Legion. The sunday dinner is this plate piled high with potatoes, corned beef and all other manner of comfort food. I would definitely go back here, but there isnt a lot of coziness in the dining room, it feels more like a camp dining room, I think this might be a weather consideration, in the winter I am sure it gets wet with snow boots etc. It was a Gander must and I would highly recommend! read more

Food was super, service excellent, there was a line but we were sure glad we waited. It was a fun place for a good home cooked meal.

Great portion. But no dressing with the hot turkey sandwich? The other 2 meals were ok. Loved the bakery.!!

We were not greeted, which is unusual in Newfoundland. We stood dumbly for about 7 minutes then left.

If you're looking for a homemade style meal, this is the place to go. Love that they have a takeout/grocery shop style or sit down restaurant option. Delicious, well made food, amazing and friendly service. One of my top favourites in Gander by far. read more

Second visit in 2 weeks. First visit left after waiting 20 minutes to be seated. Restaurant was only half full, lots of staff, tables already set up and NO ONE being seated. Tried it again today. We were only people there. 3 wait staff were standing around arguing about money/tips. Set up our table but didn't let us know. Ordered breakfast - coffee sent back as it tasted burnt, eggs were extremely overcooked, meal arrived not as ordered, left half of meal on plate. Never again. read more

Yes there was a line up. Portions are very big but food was not good. Steak was the special. It was as thin and tough as boot leather. No flavour at all. Quite disappointing considering there was a line up so thought it would be great food. read more

This is a solid restaurant for diner-type food. It has a pretty extensive menu that covers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meal-wise, they have everything from pasta to club sandwiches to what I ordered - the Turkey Mess. Apparently this is a Newfoundland dish which is sort of like a turkey poutine. Family restaurant, speedy service. Usual NL grub but some other options. I had a loaded bake potato without bacon, one of the few vegetarian options, and my partner had a fresh turkey sandwich which he declared was tasty and not lunch meat. We went back later to get some baked goods which were mostly good, the only thing was that the cashier was drowning having to deal with take out orders, restaurant guests and bakery customers. We waited at least 20 minutes to check out from the bakery. Not sure if they can handle that better. At least the customers were patient. read more

This is a pretty average looking place with some pleasant surprises. The best thing by far is the staff. All of the ladies were super friendly and welcoming. I had the club sandwich with beef barley soup. Neither were inspired, but it was decent quality. The stand out feature of this place food-wise is for sure the bakery at the front of the restaurant. Everything looked delicious and the prices were good, even for the Moose Farts lol. read more

Had the cheeseburger and fries and was delighted with the cooked onions and great tasting burger. Fries are fresh cut and the bun was freshly baked. Service was fast and friendly and very organized. Didn't have room for the pie but would recommend to anyone. Would be a 5 star rating if the price was less, $12.00 for burger and fries, $2.10 for a can of pop. read more

Gas station cashier suggested rosies. 7pm and there was still a pretty good crowd. The atmosphere is that of a cafeteria, one big room with a bunch of tables. Half rack of ribs with fresh cut fries is what I went with. The ribs we ok, the fries excellent and the coconut cream pie was OK but underwhelmed considering the restaurant is also a bakery. It's okay. Definitely tasty but has the atmosphere of a communal ranch breakfast club. Menu is a bit of your standard traditional carbon copy. They dared to be somewhat creative with "the mess" but that's a bit common. Something original and a bit classy on the menu would go a long way. The gravy is actually extremely good despite it's opaque and pastel appearance. Service is friendly but a bit too humble. Could benefit from a professionally trained cook in charge. Zero bad things to say about the baked goods though aside from the not so environmentally friendly packaging. Very well made. read more

Came here for a work lunch and had the chef salad, which was delicious. The large size is certainly a meal unto itself. Very busy place! This was the second try to come for lunch. Unfortunately you have to seat yourself and it can be awkward to wander about looking for a table. The waitress wasn't all that friendly. read more

I don't understand why this restaurant gets great reviews on Yelp. We went with high expectations, and it disappointed on many levels. It was a Monday, around 1:30 and the place was not full. The server seemed harried and service was very slow and not particularly friendly. The cashier at check out stayed on the phone for probably ten minutes while I waited to pay and then was quite brusque. We ordered the soup of the day (restaurant was over air conditioned) and I swear it was Campbells' canned vegetable soup because the color was the same and the vegetables were in little cubes, which I have only seen in canned soups. They threw in a few bits of turkey and called it "turkey vegetable soup". I have never been served canned soup at a restaurant as a soup of the day. Our turkey BLT came without the turkey and had to be returned. It was a very ordinary sandwich. Overall we were very disappointed. read more

In my experience I thought the prices are a little high for what you get. Also, the customer service is not the best or at least not at the time I was there. My food was cold when it got to me and when explaining things to the waiter she didn't seem to care and in my opinion management could be a little more friendly. I was never asked if my meal was o.k. I also had a coconut cream pie which I think is very overpriced and was not good. On a positive note they have good bread at good prices. read more
