As I was preparing for my business trip, I noticed that the rest of my clothes offered no pockets. Trying to hold my phone, wallet in a bulky purse would have been uncomfortable. I remembered that they had a flat purse that can be situated under my business clothes "who's gonna know" . In addition I bought an RFID flat wallet. The bag could also fit my Epi-Pen and meds. The selection was also great. I appreciated that they held items for me at the front while I shopped. I also appreciated that they had a restroom. In its current state, Flower Child is walking into a retro basement that has decades of treasure! LAYOUT/INVENTORY: The store has two levels with multiple rooms of treasure. Both levels have similar merchandise - home goods, kitchen tools, some furniture, abundance of accessories, clothing, vinyls, and some interesting international decor. Just when you think you ran out of rooms, there are more rooms of treasure to browse. I especially loved the basement. Every room is a treasure hunt! If you wear petite sizes, this is a treasure trove of vintage clothing. You'll find tees, dresses, sweaters, and pants. The clothing is casual and functional. Check out all the clothing rooms on the main level and basement. VALUE: The discounts on merchandise of 70% is a great value. However, the initial prices are quite high considering the quality. Some of the clothing and items are very well loved. I don't see myself paying full prices for the items to be extremely honest. SERVICE: The staff was very nice to customers during checkout. There was a lot of excitement about the upcoming store move. They staff was always very busy. Personally, I wanted to ask about the pricing for a folk pin I was eyeing. There was no one to ask so I eventually gave up. I'm sure the service is more attentive during the regular days. PARKING: I was surprised to find a pretty large parking lot at the back of the building considering the location is in Lakewood. Amazing if you're carrying home a lot of treasure. It is more geared towards men clothing, but I would probably get a comfy sweatshirt, jacket, or t-shirt from there. A lot of it is also color coded which is nice if you are looking for a specific sports team or color. Also, I was pleased to find that they have a bunch of vintage knick knacks as well. I found a cart with a bunch of shot glasses and they have a back room with some cool furniture, posters, records, magazine, etc. The service was great too. We were greeted at the door and the man helping us was very friendly and personable. I would 100% recommend Highland Throwbacks if you are into thrifting or want to start shopping second-hand.
