This Ross store is clean and has a pretty large men's selection to choose from. Located in the Alameda South Shore shopping center, I've been in here a few times and found some decent deals. This Ross is like many - disorganized, messy, clothes on the floor and draped over racks. But I needed a warm comforter and some sweatshirts since my dad's house is freezing! What a change from last week in SoCal with temperatures in the 90's. And how quickly I forgot what it was like to grow up here. Well not that quick, I've been in SoCal for 23 years now. There was a huge variety of comforters and I found a down alternative for $29.99. The bag was opened so I made sure the shams were still inside. Surprisingly the pillows here are pretty expensive compared to Target. Then I easily found a couple sweatshirts for $4.99 and $7.99. Then a 16 oz bottle of hand lotion for my mom $3.99. Check out was ok until I was gathering my items after and reached for the lotion. The cashier said "I didn't ring that up because it was too far away." What? It was like she was accusing me of hiding it or purposely having it on the side. When it was her fault she missed it. Luckily my friend stepped in and said, that's ok I'll buy it for your mom. Good thing because I was not in the mood for poor customer service today! read more

Overall a fine store! I come here for dog toys, baby toys and household goods. It's usually much busier than a lot of other Ross locations during the day. There's parking, which is nice. The loss prevention people check your bags at check out similar to a Costco. No complaints from me. The one time I came here at night time, I did get a weird vibe, I think it's just due to theft being an issue at this plaza in general. Daytime shopping is the way to go! read more

So I gave one star for the fact that they have the inventory and then one star for the fact that I can get through the cash register. Honestly, they removed employees that were actually nice and handled your things with care and replace them with who I think are Europeans or some other, who are efficient but also are interpersonal communication challenged & pretty disrespectful. I went there and purchased two shirts for work yesterday, one with a beautiful in-line silhouette and the other with a great material and after paying for it She asked if I wanted a bag and I said no and so when the transaction was over, she literally handed me my two shirts like they were trash she literally dropped them into my hand. I know it's not Macy's and everything or some high-end store but damn you don't have to treat my new clothes like they're trash. Have some respect. Ummmm this Ross has a whole bunch of inventory but at the same time, they really didn't have anything. I would not be surprised if the staff hid items for themselves. Considering how busy the store was, I was surprised there was no line, which confirms my speculation of the store not having good items. On this particular afternoon, they were trying out a new security system. You had to wait for security let you into the store. Which made ZERO sense. It's not like there was a capacity issue. They claim they wanted to flow people into the store slowly. Meanwhile, the issue isn't people entering the store, the concern would be people exiting with unpaid merchandise. I absolutely love Ross, but I ABSOLUTELY HATE this location!! This store is always a mess, and their inventory sucks. Don't be surprised if you walk in and see lots of empty racks and shelves. I don't really come here often and much rather go to Kohl's or TJ Maxx, but once in a while I'll stroll by to see if they've gotten any better and the answer is always a hard NO. The line is always long and there's only 1 or 2 cashiers only, goes by incredibly slow. During a couple different visits, there was broken glassware in their home section. Clothes racks are a mess, clothes are always on the floor, some clothes are stained too. Tried using their fitting room once and the employee was incredibly rude to me when I handed her clothes back that I didn't want to purchase. 2021 REVIEW: This is the worst Ross in the Bay Area, it is always super messy and looks Dirty, I feel like I'm going to get covid by breathing the air in here. But $9.99 for a bra with no tags couple of days later I try taking it back for a refund the store manager was rude like if I was trying to get over on him. He said they don't care that brand and then I was like. Why Did your cashier sell it to me then? What item did she scan to charge me? Came in today, 12/17/2019 at 8:00 pm to pick up some gift items for myself. I shop at this store at least 5 times per month for over 20 years and I am very familiar with most of the long time employees. I am ALWAYS respectful, courteous, engaging and friendly to everyone in the store, even the customers. However, I had a return and purchases. I went to the return cashier and came upon Ivon. She was also working the return register last night and had said something that just wasn't in a cheerful manner and I told her that I didn't want her ringing up my shyt cuz I know I'm going to catch a case. So, a wiser employee with some very good home training assisted me and she was extremely warm and friendly, especially after witnessing my exchange with Ivon. Well, I get Ivon tonight who was at the register. I said my prayers while waiting in line cuz I already expected her to treat me like I just slapped her puppy. The minute I approach her with my return (which I bought with 4 Ross gift cards), Mz. Ivon tells me that I can only get a store credit. Huh? I was in a holiday mood and now I'm about to jump the counter cuz this chick was refusing to return my money to my card even though I had a receipt. I told her to get the store manager and to remove herself from my vision before I flash, surely as we go... Store manager hears the flash and comes right over while store security suddenly walks away - cuz they already know and everyone just wants to go home to see their Xmas tree. Long timers approach me afterwards and they are very shocked and appalled cuz this millennial rude azz made me lose my normal in Ross Store. I'm calling corporate first thing in the morning to provide my feedback on their deficiencies in customer service deliverables. The loss prevention racially discriminates customers. If you are brown you are automatically guilty by skin color. I was unable to see the sunglasses I had wanted because the loss prevention said that i could only see them at check out. Which made me feel that he thought i was going to steal them. When all i wanted to do was try them on and check the price. I only wear oakleys, so its nice to go to a store that has them discounted. Had to come back to return a few items last night. Esmira, the cashier, at the front desk, helped me return a hat that didn't fit me and also a few other items at the Return/Exchange counter. Kelly, the Store Manager, helped me with an overlook on my receipt, that I had a double charge for the same exact item. Hmm? Turns out it was not the same shoe, but rather charged on the same shoe SKU#. Odd?! I thanked, Kelly, for her taking the time to look into it and clearing up what was shown on the receipt. Thank you, Esmira and Kelly, for your help last night. From all the friendly staff I've encountered. To all the items they have on a daily. I literally go in to obtain only a single item and end up with bags of shoes or clothes. Esh, SMH! I recommend this store and all it's entirety. Normally priced at 30 bucks, you can find seven dollar ones that fits the suit. Plus, walking distance from my apartment. The one checkout line can get long but it flows and they adjust cashiers accordingly. The employees are friendly and treat you professionally. The general cleanliness of the layout is a wreck during them busy times; however, this location could use some extra help. read more

Located in the north end of Alameda South Shore Shopping Center, this Ross store is a stand-alone building outside of the main mall. Store's size is similar to the typical Ross. The men's clothing and accessories occupies about 2/3rds of the store's right side. I have not had much success in the past in finding things as the inventory always appeared to be understocked. So I infrequently came here and would shop the flagship store in downtown SF. However, I recently decided to check the store out and was able to get nice Nike and Under Armour athletic shirts and jackets at amazing prices. Maybe the only downside is that the check-out line is usually long, as there are usually just two clerks working at the checkout counters. But the line does move along in a good pace. I'm glad the inventory in the men's section is a lot better now and hope this was not an aberration. read more

Would never ever come here again! It's all kind of ratchet stuff going on in this place. All kinds of kids crying stroller is being pushed with eight your old kids in the stroller, and then when you get to the checkout line is extremely long for no reason. Mainly because the people in line are one not paying attention to see who has left out of the cashiers line and to the cashier being extremely slow and then when it comes time for the next customer they whisper, "next customer in line." Honestly I will travel like I did to the bay and go to Ross! They have designer clothes for hella cheap. They are affordable and inexpensive. I came from Los Angeles and I just had the outfit that I had for the day and came to the bay for a week with only a few pairs of underwear. Walking distance.
