Stopped by while waiting for a table at Grand Lake Kitchen today and...found my new favorite store! So impressed with how thoughtfully each piece brings the whole store together. I saw that many of the other happy reviewers mentioned their height (tall) and was surprised because I'm a shrimp (5'!) and wish I could buy the whole store! I'm shaped a lot like a prepubescent boy and saw a woman with a very curvy figure trying on my new all-occasion dress and she looked equally as nice in it as I did. The buyers know what's up! Ok so I am not a *tall lady* but I wandered in here with a tall friend a while back and Alyce the owner was so helpful and cordial in a way that made me throw a 5 star up here. My friend found some pants for her tall self that she could even wear with heels. This I did not know was a problem, but it seems New Fangles can solve all that with some classy and sexy fashions for the taller than average beauty. Even us petites can find tops and jewelry so it's a great place to stop in while you're in the area. *Note: I dunno what the other reviewer was talking about - they don't sell fur. read more

This store moved to the old Oak Common space, and truthfully it's more fashion forward, Oak Common was boring very flowy clothes, too baggy. I only found 1 item in 2012 when it 1st opened so there you have it. Alyce on Grand is very fashionable in a LA/ NY way, which is perfect as SF and Oakland have few of these type of boutiques. The sales ladies are very nice, you don't feel pressured. I bought a cute sweatshirt and belt. I cannot wait til the Fall! That fall selection will be great I know it! read more

I love this store, now re-named "Alyce on Grand." As someone with a 36" inseam and I'm 6'2", I simply cannot find great women's clothing anywhere. Alyce has a selection of styles across different tastes, trends, and seasons, and I always find something that I love *THAT ACTUALLY FITS*!. LOVE LOVE LOVE this store and Alice (the owner). I am 6 feet tall (okay - 5' 11.5") so finding long anything is often a challenge. So it is refreshing to be able to come into a store, shop hassle free, and try things on without the worry of ordering it on line and it not fitting. Just discovered this place - I really liked the fabrics, styles and colors - different, elegant but fun. I'm tall but didn't realize this place is especially good in that case until I saw the comments here. Could not be more happy with the dress I found! I've shopped here for years for my wife who is 6'1 with a 35 inch inseam. The owner is very helpful, and I am always able to find something my wife truly loves and appreciates. It is nice to have a "brick and mortar" store where one can actually go in, browse around, and check out items before purchasing without feeling pressured and rushed. Newfangles is a great small boutique shop for tall women. It may not be for everyone-short folks and people who think their values are the only PC ones, (like the previous reviewer,) Alice does a great job of keeping attractive, multipurpose clothes available for the tall women of the bay area. This boutique has everything you need for one-stop shopping. I try to drive by at least once a week and let the from window guide me. I have not been disappointed. I have purchased slacks, sweater vests, jewelry, scarves, you name it. If the item is not in my size they will try to find it for me and will call to let me know when it is in!
