07/08/25 - After my last trip to SE Asia the zipper on my old bag just decided to break apart so it was time for a replacement. First I went to Marshall's and found a nice Samsonite bag, a carry on size for $99.99. My wife said it was probably less @ Ross Dress for Less. We went to Ross on Tuesday where I found the exact same Samsonite bag for $79.99, Cool Deal. In addition Ross has a 10% discount for Seniors on Tuesday so I took another $8 off of the purchase price. Can't argue w/saving an additional $28. Long story short I bought the bag @ Ross & returned the other bag to Marshall's. ADDENDUM: In addition I found a carryon Samsonite bag for $55.99. Between the initial $28 I saved another $24 off. So all told we were able to get the Samsonite carry on for $44 dollars less than the initial price. read more

Look at these reviews! I like reading them from time to time. Ross is a discount store much like Marshalls or TJ Max. One cannot expect much, nor should you. They may use racks to display clothing. They may use shelving to display electronics and gadgets. They may also use security cases to "try" and keep some items from getting stolen or damaged. With all these practices in place, none of it works out for them. But does it matter? I don't think so. I look at Ross as a store that is always on the cliff of bankruptcy. Why else would the store look so poorly and in constant disarray. Shtuff is hard to find but it's a store for those looking for a deal. It's on par with Goodwill except the items are still contained within some dire state of packaging. This isn't always the case but it is the usual. I've also seen some boxes that are intact but the item has been removed. It is always good to shake and ensure something is still inside. For those buying clothing... good luck. Racks are burdened with overstock. With a little patience you might find a gem. Then the heartache begins when you hit the checkout counter. FFS. Ross is for those seeking a deep discount on an item that you don't want to spend more coin on. For instance, whenever I travel and forget something that could make life easier, these are easy to find and cheap. ie a phone holder for the car or hand towels for kitch/bath. I've purchased many of these over the years. These also make great stocking stuffers (cell phone holders of course). You'd be surprised how many people need them but never buy them. read more

Asides from this place looking like it is always about to close, I don't have any other problems with this location. Not my favorite Ross but it satisfies my window shopping need from time to time. Would recommend if you're in the area but that's about it. Certainly don't think anyone need to go out of their way to come here. Everyone is polite and customer service is just ok. read more

A very critical person will give this location a two (2)-star rating. I typically have my morning coffee and am more cheerful than the most, so I will render a 2.5-rating on this Ross Dress for Less. I gave this location a benefit of the doubt when they had their grand opening last year, but they never really improved. The organizations weren't too bad this morning, but there was no wow factor on their merchandize: the same old boring tops with a "matching necklace" on it (the most peculiar fashion design...ever) or sequin dresses that are only good for clubbing. If you want to find some serious or grown-up clothes, this Ross isn't going to be the best location for them. Shopping at a discount store, I can somewhat overlook the service component. However, I've got to say something about what I witnessed today. As I was waiting to get rung up, there were customers who wanted to return the merchandize they purchased previously; on the other hand, they were customers, like myself, who wanted to make purchases. I understand that a store can experience a shortage of working staff from time to time, yet this cashier (yes, I mean you...you were the only one on duty at 1200 hour on Wednesday, 02/04/2015) was way more concerned on when she could take her break than a line of customers in front of her. Sweetie, I get it! By law you're going to get one most definitely. Would you mind clearing the line and offering a better attitude to the customers who volunteer to shop at your store? I promise that Jesus will give you a break even if your supervisor vetoes. Other than the lackadaisical service I received, I was able to find the olive oil lotion I wanted to try to see if it works on my ultra dry hands. My recommendation on shopping for beauty items in any discount store is to "inspect" the cover or the lid to ensure that nothing has leaked or tempered by any means. On the side note, this Ross isn't so pedestrian-friendly. If you're on public transportation on a snowy or a post-snowy day, make sure you are wearing a sturdy pair of snow boots because all the snow is shelveled to the roadside where pedestrian walkways are supposed to be. read more

The cashiers still act as if covid it isn't happening, before you can gather your things and clear the register they're already calling the next CUSTOMER to come to the register...retail really treats people like they're cattle instead of paying customers, creating a message of we got what matters, your money, next cash cow. Kudos to Lorelei for beating me as the "first to review". I was sure I was gonna be on top of this one! ;0) Anyway, I had a pretty decent experience at some other locations and decided to check this one out, as it is super close to the house. I agree with Lorelei that It is much smaller than other locations. Most of the women's stuff is downstairs and men's and housewares is upstairs, which I was too lazy to check out. I went early this morning (Sunday), just as they opened and everything was super organized and clean. It seemed all the employees were on point trying to make the store look good for the "grand opening" weekend. Again, this is like a TJ Maxx / Marshalls type set up, but I would liken the clothes a lot more to CW Price. I would say there are some gems if you are willing to look through the chaotic racks, but not as much quality stuff as TJ / Marshalls-I feel like they get the leftovers from better stores and therefore you find better stuff. This is like the leftovers from cheap stores so the selection is not as impressive. HOWEVER, since I am a "digger", I love to sift through the crap and find the gems! I did spot a few Calvin Klein business dresses I had seen at Marshalls for about the same price. I got a Calvin Klein "looking" dress (same cut / style / color scheme) for a mere $19.99. I also scored a very nice, classy looking Guess bag for $57. Way more than I'm used to paying for purses, but it is a really nice everyday bag. I also feel in love with these crazy shoes (they were *very* CW Price) for $19.99 but they had every size but the one I needed. I may have to check out a few more locations to score those shoes! Overall, a good experience. It would be fun to pop in from time to time to see what other good deals I can score! read more

Cons: -long lines -scattered merchandise -some ripped clothing and/or weird sewing -customer service is lacking Pros: -you can find amaaaaazing bargains. I've gotten cocktail dresses for $20 or under. The home decor section is pretty cheap too. Come during an odd time - like evenings during a weekday- and you can hopefully avoid the long lines. They do allow returns up to 30 days, but definitely look over everything before you buy it. I just had to return a dress that had bad stitching in the back (whoops). read more

If you had your loss prevention bozos on registers I could have left the store 15 minutes sooner. From the time we came in, to the 30 minutes later when we left there was a long line clogging up the store. We waited in line for a long ass time. You would think if you had 25 people waiting in line in this hot ass store you would at least open another register, nope! So you must think oh other employees must be stocking and putting stuff away, also NOPE! This store is insanely unorganized with things literally falling off the shelves. This store is a shit show from start to finish. Literally felt like I was in hell the entire time. When we left we saw another employee who had left during this outside smoking a ducking cigarette and drinking a Dr Pepper. Hire more people. Pros: amazing deals and they mark things down weekly based on when the item arrives and if it sells. So it's really stupid but my friend picked out two wallets that were the exact same but one was a lower price. Cashier wouldn't let her take the lower price which was just dumb IMO. Cons: small and crowded. You are only allowed to see one piece of jewelry at a time. This policy is enforced literally bc I was comparing rings and the sales manager held up one with his own hands bc I wasn't allowed to hold both of them with my hands. The rings were $10.00 or less; they acted as if I was holding a Rolex or Patek. The customer service is subjective but generally you get the feeling that most of the employees aren't happy and are prob underpaid bc they act in a manner that isn't classy or even mildly friendly. The point of this store is to get an awesome deal and Ive walked out of this store w some amazing deals- which brings me back each time! Caveat emptor! read more

I've heard of this store, but had never been so I popped in one day on my way to the Lincolnwood mall. I still need some things for my new apartment, like rugs, and don't like spending on fortune on them since my cats love to ruin them. I once caught my declawed cat pulling tufts out with her teeth! Maybe one day they will realize that I don't like shag rugs! My first thought upon entering was, "Is this place going out of business?" The shelves and racks were so barren! A lot of the merchandise was damaged and some shoes looked like they had been worn a few times then returned. Those scuff marks don't fool me! I guess this is the place where leftovers from Marshall's/TJ Maxx go to die. The home goods section was better than the clothing. There were a lot of cute throw blankets and organizers, but other than that it was slim pickins. I was happy to finally find a neat kitchen rug ($10!) that did not have a coffee, wine or a creepy chef print! Not everyone wants their kitchen to have a restaurant theme, as much as I love having food made for me. I dug around the clearance shelves and found a metal, vintage typewriter hook thingy for a few bucks. It makes an awesome key holder in my entry way! Oh and they had some fun Hello Kitty kitchen gadgets, but most were damaged or had some weird gunk on them. I managed to find a spatula for $2. Despite being unimpressed at the paltry selection, I managed to find some treasures! If you're on a decorating budget and don't mind digging around, you can find some goodies. Even though the shoe section is fairly limited I love it! Every time I've stepped in here, I have seen shoes that I like in my size, for a great price. Now besides the shoes, everything else is...eeeehhh....ok. Lots of families come here with their children who like to run around. The layout is horrible, very little space to walk around, I found myself having to walk around a lot because I couldn't get through an aisle if there was someone else there. And the place is seriously disorganized. I understand with all the chaos it is difficult to keep it neat, but it was so bad I didn't feel it was worth rummaging through, and I am the type of person who usually loves to scour the racks for something good. But then again, maybe I just wasn't feeling up to the task that day. Anyway, if you're not the type of person who likes to hunt for a good deal, don't come here. read more

1 STAR ONLY CHANGED TO 5 BECAUSE OF JAVIER! Shay on the phone seemed really impaired and honestly high. I was inquiring about a end table that I found at another Ross. He wouldn't even assist me. He said I'd have to come in and look myself, when I live super far away. When I asked to speak to the manager, the manager told me they don't even CARRY FURNITURE THERE. So SHAY would've had me come ALLL THE WAY THERE, when he could've easily told me they don't carry furniture. What's crazy is I sat there really deceiving what I was Looking for and he was super nonchalant and unhelpful. I am updating this review because of Javier. The MANAGER told me they didn't even HAVE furniture? Shay also didn't know what he was talking about. But Javier was the only one that was helpful and kind. Ok, Ross! I seriously cannot go inside, and come out with just one item. Most of the time when I visit, I'm in here for at least an hour looking at things. This Ross has a good selection of clothing, fitness items, sunglasses, shoes, boots, suitcases, and all sorts of household items. I also love how they put the snacks near the door, to catch your attention when you're headed toward the register, which always leads you to buying something like cookies, popcorn, or either gummy worms upon checking out. For that, i thank you for taking a good chunk of my money, whenever I stop in for just one item. Sheesh! We didn't appreciate the cashier rushing us to the register before the older lady ahead of us was even done picking up all her items, telling the lady she had to hurry because there was a line. Then she rushed the people behind us to start scanning their items and putting them down on the counter in front of us before we even started picking up our own. And without apology the cashier only said "the register times out." And to add to our experience, the back half of the first floor smelled bad. read more

Love the selection of merchandise and the prices are great. However, the employees are not friendly at all. I did come in around 630 pm so I could understand if one may be rude but the dressing room attendant was rude. I asked her a question and she responded with a leave me alone tone. Th cashier didn't even say a word until the end when she asked if I wanted a bag. At least she did that much. She had a dead expression on her face. I asked how was she doing and she didn't say anything. And to top it off she didn't hand me a receipt. So I hope if I have to return something I don't get any attitude. I was happy to learn Ross opened in my neighborhood few years ago. I went there to shop lot of times end every time I said it was my last because of the costumer service and very long lines. There are 9 registers at the store but only 2 are in use the most. You can also hear employees talking, expressing their low work moral and complaining of other employees who called off that day. The staff are rude to costumers and tend to argue with them. The store has a good deals and prices but staff rudeness and long lines supersedes it all. I know they have their own problems, unhappy with pay but honestly the way they act and behave while at work is unacceptable at any work place. read more

I am in love with bargain shopping. LOVE IT! My love for shopping and good prices has helped me to return to this store. As of yet, I've had no luck with a purchase. I am not in love with messes, disorganization, sloppiness, or rudeness. I have tried to shop this store a few times. I have found it to be messy, and disorganized. I have found some merchandise to be lovely and well priced. The checkout lines (on the days I was present were incredibly long (more than 12 people stacked and waiting). it's very very sad to rite the review about one of your store managers or employee who found to be a racist type behavior towards me. As She busy talking to a person outsider person not a customer, and we were in long line waiting for her to rap up the talk with outsider person in the middle of work, while counter light was On and there was big line of customers waiting behind me as I noticed so called her talk with the person finished as I Approached to the counter with lights on, very very rudely and very unprofessional she said did I called out for a person. I was shocked looking to her expression and way she talk to me, I found her as a Racist person, I thought of calling a police officer on site but I controlled my self, is this the behavior of your employees towards customer walking into store for shopping? I discovered Ross in NYC, and the downtown store is amazing! I was really looking forward to the chain coming to the Chicagoland area. Unfortunately, the few Ross locations that are here are pretty lackluster. This particular one seems to be the smallest/messiest one I've been to. If you go on a weekend, it's a huge mess and hard to shop anything - clothing sizing is mixed on the racks and the shoe department looks like it was bombed. I was able to pick up some a BCBG shirt for 19.99 (picked it off the floor), but it's not worth the effort to go here and spend lots of time digging. Edit: This location doesn't have much furniture. Let me tell u something - Starbucks is known for holiday shopping who doesn't love shopping with Starbucks - if I'm happy I spend more ! Literally worth zero but here's a star! This Store is upside down, and oddly much of the racks are empty. The way Things are setup here remind me of a thrift store. So why bother if it is Ross which they say is comparable to t.j maxx or Burlington, I'll argue that it's no way near those stores! At least They offer better quality of better selection! Everything else is fine, but boy, somebody needs to train your fitting room attendant. She yelled at me for 5 minutes as if I she was my school headmistress, telling another lady (who was telling her to "forgive" me) "But they don't learn!" Learn? Maybe I won't come back again to spend $ here! Who wants to be humiliated as if they're standing in line for charity! And what for? Because there was no one at the fitting rooms. I took I guess a number of things in with a cart. I didn't know, and nobody told me. But then I did spend almost $200 there, so what is the issue? Anyway, when I emerged, she was there, waiting to yell at me. I kept saying, "OK, I got it," and she kept saying, "What is this in the cart?" (pulling my stuff aside) "You can't take all this stuff. You got that too? No, no, this is a no no." (Clothes and shoes, for the record). Eventually I said, "Listen I got it" and she kept yelling at me as I walked away. If she'd been younger, I would've been really pissed off, but I decided to be patient with an older woman. A bystander woman was even moved to ask her to quit. The store needs to tell her to back off. Either be present on duty to tell people what to do, or just ask them once and let them go pay for their crap. Jeez. read more

This store very small & didn't have a lot of Stuff. The line is also confusing seems like. All Ross have the same mess up cash wrap & always have only 1 or 2 cashiers.
