I shared my concerns with Kate and she worked quickly, making sure I was comfortable with the changes and prices (I told her I've previously had traumatic experiences with other alterations businesses in Chicago - she was so receptive and warm). I said I'm not shopping for myself, I'm shopping for someone else and then She stood right in front of the rack so I couldn't even shop it. I picked up earrings at one point to look at that were out in the open not in a case and she practically jumped on me. I would absolutely never go back in the store and would never purchase anything. Evidentally the same family has been operating this store from the same location for 37 years now, now being run by a guy named Bill and his brother, and taken over from their father. Perhaps more of note are the prices. I went to DSW recently to buy a few pairs of dress shoes, found nothing that I could walk comfortably in - and everything was pretty pricey. If the average decent shoe I tried on at DSW was 90-135$ - it is of note that at Athenian the prices for the same styles and designers were averaging 49-89$. Hugeness. So, a chronically pissed off shoe customer like myself walked out 20 minutes after I walked in with sweet pairs of Giorgio Brutini and Stacy Adams for about 130$ total. Giggity. When I say necklace sets, I'm talking about the stuff you get from Charming Charlie's. The sets I bought ranged from $4 to $12. Having said that, one of the sets didn't even make it home. As I unloaded my haul for the day, the necklace fell apart. I mean, it was $4 so I wasn't expecting it to last forever but I was hoping I could get one or two uses out of it. The rest of the sets seem to be in one piece (so far). You get what you pay for, but the stuff is cute and the employees aren't harassing which is a plus for these types of shops. Make it your first stop, cause the places next door and across the street have the practically the same items for almost double the price. Oh and there is a $10 minimum.

This gift shop had a wife variety of things. There are plants and pots, clothing, candles, artwork, and so on. Lots of possibilities to find a gift for someone in your life. The shopkeep was welcoming and happy to help if I needed it. I'm not sure if the store is dog friendly to customer's dogs, but could be since the person working had their dog keeping them company.
