I found Ferragamo for 76% off or some crazy markdown. I could not afford full price Ferragamo. Amd got a fancy hard shell Ferragamo sunglass case. The store was laid out differently than the Sandy location so was a weird experience passing the front entrance and not seeing the checkout on the left wall as you enter the store... for those with a compass, near the northeast area of the store. It's hard for me to imagine a world where malls are obsolete, but I do fear that we are going that direction as more and more people do their shopping online. That said, the University Place mall may be immune to that simply because it's located smack in the middle of town with so much around it. People will come just out of convenience of location. There are all the stores you'd expect, and a few surprise ones too. It may not feel like there are a lot of people inside, but the parking lot is always crowded. I think this is because there are lots of adjacent or nearby retail places that share the parking, and it can get a little congested.

There is a ton of Japanese imported food and drinks here, much of it exclusive to FYE, lots of action figures and related stuff, quite a few different t-shirts, bowls, cups, just a huge embrace of various elements of pop culture, both American, mostly horror, and Japanese (ranges a lot). If they're going to do it, selection is going to be important and they do very well on this side. I can't say it's a wholly welcome change, for me, anyway, but they're doing a pretty solid job leaning into it...for the few stores that are left, anyway.

We went recently to do a return of 2 food items that were bad but didn't expire until Jan 2027. We…read morepaid cash but I didn't have the receipt. I was told by the manager that because they hadn't expired and were opened, even though they were rancid, she would not do the return. She further explained that if they were expired and rancid, she would do the return. I explained how that made no sense. If the product isn't expired but bad, of course you accept the return. After a bit of back and forth she approved the return but then stood there with her back to us as the cashier completed the transaction. The cashier by the way was super sweet!!
