Staff are friendly and the selection is pretty good. Be prepared to spend 45 mins in line because they probably only have one or two cashiers at peak times. Understaffing to this level is just disrespectful to customers. At least pretend you care about the people who shop here. read more

Absolutely terrible. Not only do they refuse to hire more people but the few they do hire they barely pay $10 an hour so you get little to no work out of them. You would think when you have a line all the way to the back of your store and wrapping around it. You get more than two kids that have no idea how to run a register on your registers but that is every single day at this place. Does not matter if it is the weekend or if it is the middle of the day there will only be two people on that register. The rest of the store is absolutely filthy because they do not take care of it nor do they clean it and the one security guard has a big enough ego for the state of Tennessee. Customer service is horrible. you've got no sense of urgency in this store whatsoever. 20+ people standing in line and only 2 registers are working, your employees are not focussed on getting their customers checked out in a timely manner, instead their standing around like their at a social gathering. I love coming here to look for random things, from clothes, house decors, dog stuff and other essentials. But lately the cashiers are not very friendly no greeting or thank you or anything. The only greet is from the security guard when you first walk in. But its not gonna stop me from shopping here bc I always find great deals. read more

Out of all the Ross stores in middle Tennessee this has the best selection in my opinion. I've visited 4 stores and although this one isn't always clean, it's because customers are too lazy to put things back where they got them and the cashiers can't usually leave their station to clean the store. On weekends the line is extremely long the majority of the time, so it's best to go during the week. They have late hours too! This store carries a lot of good merchandise for a fraction of what you would pay in a department store. Ie. Michael Khors for 20.00! 90.00 Nike shoes for 30.00 etc. They get trucks in regularly so if you go and don't see much, try again in two days and you'll likely hit the jackpot. read more

Staff just seems miserable. Can't even ask questions and one woman was screaming at customers including me to browse through items with the hangers because she's "not going to go pick up after people." It's quite literally how people look at clothes before purchasing. Whole experience was just insane tbh. A couple clearly had a language barrier and she continued to be mean and talk to them like they're stupid. I've said this before and going to say it again... customer service just isn't what it was anymore. The employee could've been nice about it but I guess yelling at people instead of asking nicely to make her job easier is just too hard. Tried to spark a conversation with another employee at the register, she could care less about anybody that approaches. I'm convinced everyone in customer service is just there for a paycheck. Will not be returning... if you're reading this spare the negative experience and go to a different location. read more

The fitting room staff were very rude. Several of them looked at me holding clothes standing and waiting and just continued what they were doing. Apparently there is some sort of protocol that I was unaware of, but nothing was posted about it so I don't know how I was supposed to know. Once someone finally acknowledged me, she informed me rather shortly that I was to put the items I wished to try on onto a rack. In the process of getting things on the rack and getting my children out of the shopping cart, my older child who is on the autism spectrum was attempting to get away. When escaped my grasp and started running, she rolled her eyes and proceeded to call the next person. Very rude. Will not be returning. read more

I have never had a more horrible shopping experience in my life. To start off with there was next to no selection, all I was looking for was a pair of dress pants. I went to the fitting room and the attendant was very rude. I left with all the items I went in with (three) and heard her calling security on me. I was in line at the register and there was only one cashier. There were five other customers in front of me. To top things off security was standing there staring at me. FUCK YOU RENT A COP!! I put my stuff down and left the store. I will NEVER go to any of these stores again, apparently the people that work there don't even have the education of a second grader. 0 STARS!! read more

THIS is why I'm an Amazon Prime addict now! I cannot believe how rude some people are, especially having worked as a salesperson in high school for 4 years myself. I'm there to return a purse. It's in the bag with tags attached. Simple. There is only one other lady in front of me in line at the returns counter. I get in line behind her. All of the sudden, the clerk shouts at me, "It's all in ONE line!" "Excuse me?" I say, having no idea what she's talking about. She makes a "flight attendant directing the aisles" gesture with her hands and says "It's all in ONE line!" "What?" I say again, inciting her wrath. "It's ALL in ONE line!" "Huh?" "IT'S ALLLLLLL in ONE LINE!" she spits out, exasperated now, still using flight attendant gestures. I stare stupidly at the woman in front of me and the empty space behind me. Suddenly; I realize what I have done to invoke her rage: the black "waiting line" ribbon thingy is empty. I'm not standing in it. I've chosen to stand DiRECTLY BEHIND ONE PERSON, forming a two-person line OUTSIDE the waiting-line ribbon. I must be punished. Because, "It's all in ONE line!" Great store bargains in every aisle if you look.lines get long due to lack of cashiers.

The selection is pitiful and I just cannot stand digging through clothes as is but when you have absolutely no organization at all it just makes me so irritable. Like I understand that shoppers may be lazy and put things in the wrong place but I don't think that's the case. Sizes are all mixed together and some of the clothes looks dirty and some even smell bad. read more

Good selection of men's and women's bargains. Snapped up a little green sundress for $14.99 after trying on 3 good contenders. There appeared to be more selection than our local store, everyone was chipper but busy. If I am in the area again, would definitely stop in. read more

Bad customer service. The lady at the fitting Room doesn't Seem to understand English when you tell her you want to buy one of the items you try on she tell you to put it back on her hanger. Also when you have a line of people at the register you should call for another cashier to help ring not stand there and look at the line like you don't know what to do. Not even a one star unfortunately Jane I believe her name was, not only Rude but poor customer service, she rushed us out of the transaction , my family smiled and was sweet with her as I observed the whole transaction. My Father thanked her for the transaction said " have a good day " she rolled her eyes and yelled " next !" Not only was the transaction was cold but someone like that doesn't need to be in retail. Sorry if one isn't happy with her job , but for the Love please step aside if you need a break, everyone else was so sweet with us, I believe the line was not formed correctly and she yelled to the people behind us " the line isn't suppose to form that way it's suppose to form into an " S" shape, there was no Que manager ( straps for lines ) for guidance until I made a comment about the line formation.. anyhow bottom line rude customer service, store is very skimpy on selection and store . For that business and fashion savvy women, this store always has a great variety of pants suits and handbags. The store is ALWAYS clean and during my recent visit I was blown away with their Valentines display. The people are so friendly and always greets everyone that walks through the door. One of the things that does bother me are the number of unaccompanied children running around under the clothes, opening and playing with the toys. Its like parents just tell them to go play while they shop. I often see the employees running around trying to prevent the kids from opening the toys and urging them to stay with their parents. To those parents why would you allow your kids to open and play with the toys and you don't plan on paying for them? Some of us would like to buy unopened and unplayed toys, wouldn't you? Hats off to the employees committed to keeping this store clean and that's why this is my favorite Ross. You should check'em out!! read more

OMG Here for work and saw Ross from my Hotel Room and had to check it out Love it way better then back home Love it

Let me start off by saying that I have been shopping at the Smyrna location of Ross's for the past 7 years 1-2 time per week. Most of my experiences with this particular store had been pleasant....until today. My 10 year old son and I visited the store and he, like so many other kids his age wanted to go to the toy section of the store. So off he went while I continued to shop. 5 minutes later he returned to tell me that the loss prevention lady told him he had to be with him parents at all times while in the store. He said, "Mom I'm not a criminal." He said that he was just looking at some back packs. I was outraged! First off, where is THIS policy written and/or displayed in the store for the parents? Secondly, an employee of the store should not have a conversation/discussion like this with anyone's child. Why not locate and notify the parent of such directives. I questioned the store manager and she said that it was in fact a Corporate wide policy. So what did I do? I called Corporate and was told that this was not a Corporate policy. I am now waiting to hear back from the District Manager. These are discriminatory practices and I will NEVER shop at any of Ross's Stores AGAIN! And just to let you know how much I shop at Ross's the review written by Savitri (who gave the store 5 stars) is an employee there! I don't know her personally, but do remember her face.
