I recently visited Rossignol Estate Winery and while my experience with the wines was mixed, the overall visit was memorable. The location and views were absolutely phenomenal, with rolling vineyards and a peaceful setting that felt so inviting. The staff were friendly, warm, and welcoming, which made the experience all the better.
As for the wines, I tried a white, a red, a blackberry mead, and a cranberry rosé. For me, only the cranberry rosé was really drinkable, while the others didn't quite measure up to my taste. That said, I know Rossignol has earned recognition for some of their fruit wines, so perhaps it just comes down to personal preference.
What really stood out beyond the setting was the art. Dr. Dagny Dryer Rossignol, the house artist, creates beautiful pieces that are showcased throughout the winery, and even reflected in the labels. Her work gave the entire space a unique sense of personality and charm that really enhanced the visit.
I also learned that the winery is owned and operated by John Rossignol, with Dagny contributing her artistry alongside his vision for winemaking. Their passion and dedication to building PEI's first winery really shows in the care put into the space and the experience they provide.
Overall, while the wines didn't impress me across the board, the venue, the people, and the atmosphere more than made up for it. I'd return for the views, the art, and the hospitality, and I'd encourage others to visit for the experience as much as the wine. read more
