    Welcome to Roswell sign.

So fun finding all the alien Roswell finds. Can't go wrong with the Welcome sign. Other locations are Downtown Roswell and the UFO museum.

Such a cool sign! Right off the highway, you can't miss this sign. Seeing it made me happy, as I knew I was entering the city I've been waiting to visit for so long! Worth the stop!

I've been to a few "Welcome to" signs including "Fabulous Las Vegas" https://www.yelp.com/biz/welcome-to-las-vegas-sign-las-vegas?hrid=_iwDE-WOf4KLaHGmdlx0dQ and "Reno, the Biggest Little City in the World" and Welcome to Napa Valley "https://www.yelp.com/biz/napa-valley-vintners-saint-helena-2?hrid=fmtQtfGzOcZORJPSeCARFw". They're all awesome and so is this Roswell welcome signs which is special. It is along US-285 and it's the only one that has a spaceship. The others are not as Instagram-worthy. I was able to turn my Sprinter van around to get it into the shot. The side of the road is wide enough for even the biggest vehicle. Note that there's a cattle farm nearby and cross your fingers that the wind is blowing in the right direction. [Review 17443 overall - 56 in New Mexico - 961 of 2022.]

There are quite a few welcome to Roswell signs and many great Alien themed things to take photos around Roswell (most of which you will find along Main St), but this one (please see my photos) that I visited with my husband and our little girl dog is a real fun and unique one that is found on Highway 285, about 6 miles south of Roswell. This particular sign is an art installation created by artist John Cerney in 2013, in honor of the Annual UFO Festival. This art installation/ mural shows a ranching family greeting Aliens that might have just landed in Roswell. The son is helping the aliens jump start their saucer and the mother is offering a pie to other aliens. It is funny how the aliens recoils in horror. The UFO actually lights up at night and is solar powered. About John Cerney, he is from Salinas California and his artwork is common to large cut out art, like the one here. If you visit his website (johncerneymurals.com), you can see many of his wonderful artwork throughout the US. Most of the artwork that Mr. Cerney has on display are usually found alongside highways of California and the Midwest. This is definitely a great art installation worth driving out to and taking some photos and laugh about later on.

    Welcome sign besides the freeway

It is really a fun stop and our family enjoyed it. It is next to the 285 on the south side of the city before enter the town, make sure use yelp to guide you over there.

Sadly, the sign south of town has been totally trashed. Graffiti, vandalism have ruined what was probably a nice photo op at one time.

It's an awesome place to have a photo op with the family but be prepared for the cattle smells!

Disappointing! Small sign and out of the way of all the museums and sights. Waste of time and kids were unhappy.

As soon as we decided to come to New Mexico - I knew I had to come Roswell to the UFO museum. Since I am a bit obsessed with the Roswell incident. You know the weather balloon crash. So I get in the museum and I start reading everything and listening to all the testimony. And I actually started to believe that it wasn't a weather balloon. Until I read the statement from the funeral parlor director. Supposedly the army officers requested 4' caskets. Really - aliens? And your big concern is the size of the casket? They can't go in a regular size one?? Besides we all know that the aliens get stored in the lab at Area 51. In glass jars.

They have everything on display chronologically, some interesting visual displays, and it's a self guided with lots of captivating stories and tangible materials as it relates to the existence of aliens and UFO's. I went through here in about an hour. It would take you much longer if you read everything on display. Lots of the stories on the timeline are fascinating. I thought it was well put together and should be thrilling for the alien enthusiasts. After checking out all the museum displays, there's a decent sized gift shop offering various types of merchandise. I got a cool fridge magnet as a souvenir for visiting this infamous museum. If you ever come to Roswell, whether you are into or believe in aliens, you have to visit the UFO Museum. It represents what Roswell is known for, and it's just an overall interesting experience with everything chronologically displayed nicely.

We stayed from Friday to Saturday and here are some more tips about the town. -It's a small town so it was easy to park anywhere we wanted. The weekend we went was also the same time as Pinatafest and the National Air Races and even with these two events it was still easy to find parking. -Some of the streets off of Main street are worth exploring, you'll find remnants of the old cattle-town history. Our favorite was a giant silo that looked so good on a clear day. -I'm sure the locals are SO sick of alien questions and jokes and we met awesome people and got great responses when asking about more general advice like the best place to drink at and where we could get fry bread. -Eddie Macias is a local artist and you will see his murals and paintings throughout the town.

You could do a historic space flight from the point of the aliens in '47 or the moon landing in '69; but we just did BrickTown. MacKenzie did a fantastic job of explaining our options. We sat in a room to watch an instructional video, and we were let loose to view the exhibit. Also, available are various skill levels of scavenger hunts that will make the exhibit viewing way more involved and enjoyable. Of course you can skip the scanveger, but it will make the museum a little tedious. The first room you'll see various aircraft, but the Roswell Air Show scene has a lot, aliens included, of course. The room leads into another with the halls lined with incredible LEGO Dot interpretations of the Mona Lisa Starry Night, and the Last Supper. You will then see a Pirates Cove scene and various famous buildings. I thought this 1-meter Titanic rendition was pretty good...even with the iceberg ahead. The coup de grace, is actually the interconnected scenes in the main gallery. Everything else gets lost here. You have an amusement park scene, connected to an apartment scene, connected to a park that is getting overrun by an alien attack - led by the biggest alien mother ship on the planet? The mother ship is blasting a huge laser downward and splits a camper can. There are moments of humor here as in the midst of their attack there aliens are assimilating to the activities. Towards the back you will see a Star Wars themed Xmas scene. Also, there is another bigger City themed Xmas display of events. I don't think this scene is permanent, but seasonal. If you love LEGOs you may want to drop in.
