Very friendly and helpful staff, they provided a free map and provided recommendations on the most visited sites in roswell.

This was right on Main Street. There was a large free parking area behind it. We were walking with the dog but I noticed the lot. Walked in and there is an outer hallway with art and when you step into the main area they had a camera set up taking pictures of visitors standing between two aliens. Of course we did it along with the dog. (Cheweenie). It's free but they take donations so tht was easy. You get 2 pics and they print it and you can email it to yourself which we did and I'm sure to see some spam. We grabbed a couple of brochures. The associates were very nice and helpful. No issues with the dog. Great place!!

Everything about Roswell is just as quirky and fun as you've imagined -- including the Visitor Center, where you can pick up a map, learn about tourist attractions, and have your photo taken with the silver "visitors" from even further away.

Stop here 1st! When in Roswell the visitor center is a must stop. I recommend going here first. They had a great map with all the local attractions. A seasonal themed photo op with aliens where they take your group picture and print them for you for free. They even have a fun scavenger hunt around town. Plus public backgrounds if you need a break while walking around town.

The Roswell Visitors Center is located right across from City Hall with parking available. It is a great place to stop by if you want a map of the things to do in Roswell and also for suggestions by the friendly employees who work there. There are also clean restrooms inside and you also have an opportunity to take a free photo with a fun Roswell background as a keepsake. But currently on this trip, the machine to take the photo is not working but the employees working here are more than happy to take a photo of you with your cell phone. My husband and I decided to stop by here after visiting the International UFO Museum and Research Center, which is a few blocks up the street (the majority of things to do in Roswell are actually within short walking distance from the visitor center by the way). We just came in to get a map of the city and then the employee who helped us had given us some suggestions and her opinion of some of the things to do out here. She also suggested that we take a photo with their current St. Patrick's Day themed backdrop (please see my photo). After that, we were on our way. But later on, we decided to come back here because we wanted to get a photo of our little girl dog wearing her little green leprechaun hat and beard (which I had purchased from Target in the dollar spot for $3 for those that are interested) with the themed backdrop (yep I have become one of those crazy dog owners who has their dog wear clothes and costumes). I think that really made the employees day when we came back, lol. One employee had even gave our little girl 3 small dog treats just because she was so cute (she had asked us if it was okay to give it to her first). Overall, it is worth a visit to the visitor center if you would like a map and are new in town looking to see where to go and what to do. Even to get restaurant suggestions from locals as well (although we do have Yelp for that). It doesn't take long to make a visit either.

What do you do when visiting a city that you've never been to? Go to the visitor center! Most folks who work in a Visitor Center tend to be knowledgeable, passionate, helpful and just downright proud citizens of the towns they work in. The two ladies working at the Roswell Visitors Center on Saturday, 8/24/19, fit all of the above and were great ambassadors to Roswell. They talked to us about: aliens, the Roswell incident, favorite restaurants, where to take pictures of Roswell signs, our interests beyond aliens, etc... We even took a free alien picture at the center. The center has clean restrooms, is air-conditioned, and had a large parking lot. Also close to the UFO museum and the city hall.

Pioneer Park is adjacent to the Visitor's Center.

It's a short drive out of Roswell, but it feels like you've stepped into a quieter, older story. Legend says they tried to measure the lake with ropes tied end to end and never hit bottom. Maybe that's true. Maybe it's just a good tale told over a couple beers. Either way, standing there, staring into that dark water, you start to feel it--that little itch in your brain that wonders if everything you've been told is only half the story. We rolled in like we knew what we were doing cooler packed, grill fired up, chicken skewers sizzling, jalapeño poppers snapping over the flame, and my buddy throwing together something that leaned suspiciously close to Hawaiian poke. No crowds. No noise but what we brought with us. Bose speaker cranked, music bouncing off the water, beers cracking open one after another like punctuation marks in a long, lazy sentence. It wasn't polished. It wasn't fancy. It was just right. That's the thing about a place like this it doesn't try to impress you. It just sits there, quiet and a little mysterious, letting you project whatever story you came with. Some of it feels real. Some of it feels like the kind of myth you tell because reality isn't quite enough. Either way, it sticks with you. Bottom line off the beaten path, a little rough around the edges, and exactly the kind of place that earns its spot on the list.

We just dropped in during the winter months on a beautiful sunny afternoon to watch the NM sun go down over the west horizon. We stopped by the visitor center and met volunteers, Will and Jody. Let me just say they were super friendly and knowledgeable about the park. When we come back it will certainly be because of these awesome hosts...they were living their best lives. I was jealous. We drove over to a couple of the lakes. We checked out Mirror Lake and the Devil's Inkwell. They both had small trails around them to view the watering hole and the surrounding layers of red quartz on limestone. The area around Lea Lake is better set up for picnics, swimming, and water sports. It was closed for the season, but would open in the Spring. Tip: Make a reservation for space during the warmer months. It was a great outdoor distraction just outside Roswell. Beautiful sunsets, and super calm during the winter.

We settled into the room just fine, it was spacious and seemed pretty clean. Aside from the window curtains needing a wash, I didn't really see anything that stood out to me as being that dirty. I checked the beds and they were both fine. The pillows could be a bit better, they were pretty flat and didn't offer much support. The "pull out" sofa sucked, it was quite hard and it was confusing trying to figure out how it folded out as it isn't your typical fold out sleeping sofa. You had to take all of the cushions and pillows off then grab two little handle things to flip the top half of the sofa onto the ground to open up the "bed" which is basically just a support box like you would put under a mattress. I also wish they had a slightly bigger trash can in the room, we have booked a suite for two nights with six guests in it and there was only one small can in the kitchenette and one small can in the bathroom. Breakfast was as you'd expect at a hotel. There wasn't a ton of seating so we ended up taking it back to our room.
