A few years ago, my mom's puppy chewed up my brand new running sneakers, and my mom found Rosys when she was looking for a place to repair them. They did a wonderful job, so I've returned several times for fixes on other things. They recently fixed leather straps on two of of my beloved leather purses/bags, and have also re-heeled a pair of my Cole Hahn boots (which honestly came out looking better than they had originally!) It's really easy to miss this place tucked in by the highschool on 84th Street, but it is a really great place to have shoes repaired, leather cleaned, and anything that needs to be fixed that is leather or a non-fabric repaired. They have fixed, reheeled and cleaned countless numbers of shoes and handbags for me and replaced screws and hardware on my favorite handbag. The prices are super reasonable - $8 - $10 for shoe repair depending on how involved and to have the screws replaced and a handbag cleaned about $15. Cash only, English is minimal, but they are such a cute Latino couple that owns this little place you will fall in love with them quickly. read more

I've been trying cobblers all over Manhattan for years since Arty retired in Chelsea and his replacements aren't as attentive to detail. I had a bag of shoes to fix up and would bring something easy to one (some couldn't even replace the rubber tip on a heel of a pump without it being the wrong size or not staying in after a day!) and if that went well then bring something harder. One by one I ended up bringing everything here because their work is fantastic. The only thing I'd note is that I am more picky than they are about details, like they replaced the wood for part of a sole and the grain is going the wrong way. And the quality of the fabric(?) used to wrap the full heel on a pair of pumps is cheap looking up close. I still don't hesitate in giving five stars, but maybe talk through the plan best you can in advance if you're like me and want it to look expensive read more

Brought my two pair of boots for replacement heels and cleaning, and Rosy had them two days later with everything fixed! There's even a missing closure that I didn't notice that was fixed. I have had the boots for four years and they withstand the most awful treatment because I often walk my dog in them. They have scratches all over and the colors were quite faded. Great job on men's shoe repair for sole replacement and damage on high end dress shoes. Small hole in the wall operation, cash only but I have a buddy who swears by them for repairing his nice shoes and I'm a believer now. Some what expensive at $90 for the sole/ heel replacement and to repair the rip in the leather but these shoes will last another several years. read more

I took a leather bag here to have a too-long strap converted into an adjustable length strap after my "regular" shoe repair place sent me to Rosy, saying they'd do a much better job on this type of request. I'm really grateful for that tip because he was right, Rosy did a great job. It was very easy to explain what I wanted to change on the bag, and the women behind the counter said it wouldn't be a problem. They suggested a very reasonable rate and said it would be done in just a few days. The bag was ready on time and it was better than I could have imagined. Now I'm using this bag all the time, after it had been sitting unused in my closet for a year. Really impressed with the craftsmanship and service at this lovely little shop. read more

Rosy Shoe Repair is the best! I nervously dropped off two of my best pairs of fall riding boots on Saturday afternoon for a number of fixes before fall. They replaced the heels, reconditioned/polished the leather and replaced the insoles on both boots. Both pairs look brand new after many years of wear! The leather is beautifully polished and the heels match the original look/color. The work only took them 2 days and the total cost was $50. I think the price is extremely fair for having two pairs of boots that look fresh out of the store. Will definitely return the next time I need work done on my shoes. Tip: Cash only! They cleaned and polished my leather flats for $5 and got the insoles replaced for $15. They are cash-only, but their great prices easily justify a stop at the ATM. Small leather and shoe repair shop tucked behind the Gristedes next to a laundromat - hard to miss but a great find! My boyfriend had 6 pairs of shoes repaired here - work ranged from new soles, deep cleaning a badly stained light colored suede pair, new inside heel lining, new inserts, and thorough cleaning and polishing of stained leather. Prices ranged from $15-40 pending the damage and material, but everything came back as good as new in less than a week. Zero complaints and couldn't have imagined a better job.
