We used Shah and Associates for trust planning, after consultations with several other lawyers…read more While Shah was not the cheapest, he was the most honest and cordial, even during the free consultations, and was extremely knowledgeable. He told us what needed to be done at the time to protect our assets and what we did not have to necessarily pay extra for, and explained everything in a calm and detailed manner. His paralegal and other colleagues were very friendly, efficient, and easily reachable. If this was not enough, if you use their service you have a year to contact them with any questions you have related to your legal manner, theoretically. "Theoretically" is used because asking questions after your matter is resolved and the transaction finalized was like pulling teeth. As we had to follow-up multiple times and never received a response to some of our questions, I don't know how useful this plan is in actuality. I am a firm believer that one's word is his or her bond, and advertising a service without actually delivering on it is rather disconcerting, and, some would say, unprofessional. In addition, it differs drastically from the day after our initial meeting with Shah, when he personally contacted us to check if we had any questions or concerns. Perhaps I should have known better given the profession, but it looked like Shah was above that. Overall, I would use Shah and Associates again, but you may want to make sure you ask all the questions you have before concluding business. If not for the disappointing post-payment experience, he would be well-deserving of 5 stars. Note: This is an update of a previous review that could not be edited, to which Shah & Associates did respond.

I especially appreciate the time Neel takes to explain concepts and ensuring that all of our question are answered and we are comfortable with our plan. EP was not something we were looking forward to doing, but it's been an absolute pleasure working with Neel!

People were…read moreparking cars in front of my house, nonstop camp buses running on the local roads, camp kids dumping all kinds of rubbish in the neighborhood, etc. Sumner Law LLP was the best thing that happened to me. They were able to resolve all my problems within a very short time. Lawyers were extremely knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. The fees was very reasonable given the amount of work that was required to solve this issue. I would highly recommend this law firm to anyone who needs any help with legal assistance.

I retained Sonya M. Sumner and Sumner Law LLP for a New Jersey family law matter. I paid…read moreapproximately $23,000 in legal fees, and my total costs ultimately exceeded $74,000. After about 8-9 months, I terminated the representation and retained new counsel. During the entire representation, I did not have any Zoom meetings, in-person meetings, or formal strategy conferences. Communication was conducted almost entirely through email, and I did not feel I received a clear roadmap, structured planning, or consistent strategic guidance. Despite substantial billing, I did not receive a clear, written, consolidated parenting plan in a court-ready format. Custody and parenting issues were handled mainly through extensive back-and-forth email exchanges, which I found difficult to follow and not well organized for decision-making. I also experienced severe delays in receiving important documents and was provided incorrect court-date information, which caused confusion and unnecessary travel. I was billed for mediation-related preparation and asked to provide funds for mediation; however, no mediation took place during the firm's representation of me. Certain filings were submitted before I had completed without my final approval, and I later identified a number of errors that I believe were included in those filings. After I retained new counsel, my attorney identified and corrected a significant number of issues in the previously submitted filings and financial information. In my view, these issues created additional stress, expense, and complications in my case. I did not feel my rights, options, or long-term strategy were fully explained, and much of the communication felt confrontational and at times disrespectful. I also felt my concerns, personal circumstances, and religious beliefs were not always treated with appropriate respect or sensitivity. After I terminated the representation and retained successor counsel, I was surprised to receive additional charges, despite no longer requiring services from the firm. Overall, in my opinion, the representation lacked the communication, organization, transparency, and attention to detail that I expected given the fees charged. The experience was very stressful and required additional effort and expense to correct issues after the fact. This review reflects my personal experience and opinions as a former client based on my own records, communications, invoices, and court-related documents. Based on my experience, I would not recommend retaining Sonya M. Sumner and Sumner Law LLP.
