The quality of care is fine, check in on the kiosk is time consuming, and the front desk and xray staff are kind and thorough, but the follow up and responses to concerns is dismissive and rude. I waited 6 weeks for an approval for an MRI and upon calling the insurance found it takes 2 days, not weeks. The request was not made, then was made and cancelled, and there was no apology, no phone call, no we'll look into this. The staff who replied in patient portal made it sound like I was the one who made the error. And yes, I did file a complaint. I got a call back with an authorization number for the study but no comment towards the concern. Rothman can do better. read more

If I could give a zero, I would. My husband tore his patella tendon. He waited for almost 2 weeks for an appointment. When we were finally given a surgery date, we immediately received a phone call and were told we had to pay 1200.00. Then, 2 days later, we received a second call and were told that we had to pay over two thousand dollars, or my husband would have to postpone his surgery. My husband is in extreme pain and cannot walk. He obviously cannot work until he has this surgery. We have been given less than a week to come up with two thousand dollars, and there is no type of payment plan available. DO NOT USE ROTHMAN! They are a money-hungry SCAM!!! read more

Recently seen by Dr Hoffman for a foot issue. I have had knee and hip replacements from this location . Dr Hoffman does not appear to have much of a friendly personality but he has been the only doctor to schedule an MRI . The major problem with Rothman is their customer service, billing dept has made a major mistake with my insurance. I can not get authorization because there are no live people to talk to. Their customer service is horrific. I will not deal with them in the future. I can not get authorization thru my medical insurance . I went to Rothman for neck pain and the doctor recommended PT and wrote a script. The script called for a heat pack before therapy, the therapist said we don't do that here. The therapist just gave some instructions and walk away. Beyond the lackadaisical attitude, the place is dingy. read more

I am an "old timer". I retired from healthcare years ago. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Rothman himself and a number of his residents and fellows. The skill of these orthopods was the highest level and they were true healers. My experience with this group over the past 5 years has morphed into a bone factory and is 90% business orientated. Dick Rothman would not be happy. The surgical skills are still there but too much emphasis on the business. I have had a number of knee issues all fixed without surgery from different orthopods and Rothman Group years back when Dick Rothman was in charge. For that I would give 5 stars. It is not the same now. I find the surgeons except the podiatrists are without empathy. I do not know any other groups in South Jersey but I wish the Rothman docs would get back to their former ways read more

I had to get xrays for no reason upon my arrival. I have nerve damage since 2016, so there was no reason for xrays, before I even met dr. He did a very short exam, What bothered me most was he sent me for mri with the wrong prescription & they couldn't do it or reach the office, wasted my time. He didn't watch my gait which is typically important. I've had ankle issue since 2016,so I'm hoping he'll be more thorough after the mri( hopefully the prescription will be fixed). If I could take a star away from this review would- I would not recommend he Rothman Institute first when yo walk in I would not recommend Dr. Nutini to my worse enemy - he came in and was very uncompassionate concerning my question or my pain- He seemed to only be focused on giving me a shot and telling me that I had arthritis worse in my left leg- but I was there for my right knee - when I tried to ask questions he walked out of the room and never came- when the nurse came in I tried to ask her a question she was not very helpful either. I felt like he could have cared less that I was in pain- but only saw a person who was overweight- he sent me for therapy that seems to make my pain level worse. read more

Staff in the office, and scheduling are great! The surgeon did a great job on my knee, he was a great mechanic. I am greatly disappointed in the bedside care i received. During my time in the recovery room, i became anxious as i had an epidural and i couldn't feel my legs. I could see the doctor sitting at a desk talking with another male, the nurse called his attention to my situation, he yelled out " give her a xanax", no one tried to comfort me, "give her a xanax", and they did. Be forewarned regarding your PAIN MEDS , you will be asked to sign a paper agreeing to 6 weeks of pain meds, this form does not allow for individual needs. If you don't want to find yourself going through some nasty withdrawal effects i suggest you wean yourself off your meds in the 4th, 5th, and sixth week.It would have been appreciated if the nurse would have warned me on the next to last refill, as i could have prepared myself for the last refill. I spent 30 years in the medical field, and it was necessary to make every treatment plan, INDIVIDUALIZED. To me, that doesn't mean cutting everyone off pain meds at 6 weeks. Somehow i came out of the surgery with a back injury, in fact i could say that my back hurt even more than the knee, the doctor was aware of this, but again, no individualized care. In conclusion, you'll get a good job, but , your pretty much on your own if you need some reassurance or empathy. I have never written a bad review before, and believe me, i feel awful doing it, but, i am a senior, and i know many seniors will have this operation, i want you to be prepared for the service you will receive. read more

I have to disagree with all the negative reviews here! I've been going to Rothman in EHT for my knee problems for over 5 years and they have been wonderful! Dave Katz and Dr. Post are awesome. Rarely do I have to wait more than 15 min to be seen and if it's longer the receptionist usually lets me know they had an emergency and are running late. Once I'm in the treatment room they see me within 1-2 minutes! As a nurse practitioner myself, I believe I am receiving the best care I could find in any orthopedic practice. I recently began coming to the Rothman Institute at their Egg Harbor Township location. I had rotator cuff surgery performed and up to this point, my recovery has been great. However, my follow-up appointments have been absolutely unacceptable. Each time I've come in for an appointment I have waited more than an hour. On one occasion more than 90 minutes. When I directed questions to the staff regarding my long wait, all I got back were befuddled faces. This is concerning to me for several reasons. Without going into a rant, I truly believe that once you've completed your $35,000 surgical procedure, you're turned into a number. The lack of respect for a person's time is disgraceful. My time is extremely important to me and if I had a choice, I would never waste it sitting around Doctor's office. Rothman Institute, you're making money hand over fist. Worst ortho experience. Took daughter there twice for foot issue. Daughter was hysterically crying after playing sports. Went to Rothman a second time and physician did not even examine her foot. Advised that nothing was wrong with her foot. Went to CHOP for send opinion, was diagnosed within 30 mins of walking in front door. Diagnosis was Severs. Followed directions as advised by Chop Physician and Daughter is now pain free. read more

I was able to make an appointment and get scheduled for surgery and follow up all before my benefits run out. So far the surgery is going well and I am quite satisfied with the results I am glad rothman reached out to me Made an appointment to have my hand looked at told them when I made the appointment that I have benefits until 06/30 made an appointment. When I went to rothman for my appointment I was informed that the appointment had been canceled, they had called one of the 2 phone numbers on record the number that they called I have not had for over a year never bothered to call my home phone which I still have. Bottom line because they left message on the phone that I no longer have and didn't call home phone at all now no chance to get my hand fixed before benefits run out. read more

I have been going to Rothman for over 2 years. First my shoulder & got shots. Then I was told perhaps its my neck. Another doctor. More xrays; then I was told to try the hand doctor. More tests, most recently $555 for a nerve test and over $1,000 in yet another MRI and useless blood work. You cant go to one doctor; you must waste thousands of dollars in copays for each area. Now I am in collections after trying to work out repayments. Update: After the thousands spent on most recent wrist tests.... I was told in June, to go see a Rheumatologist!!. He shook my hand and said I'm glad your wrist is better! Its not! thousands of dollars wasted. I will never go again and I will self medicate. I went in for my knee and saw Dr. John Baker at first he came in smiling and making jokes at my expense. I thought that was ok. I figured he's lightening the mood. But when it came down to asking serious questions or concerns, he became very impatient. He made me feel stupid for asking questions. Recommended rehab. I asked about an MRI. He became aggravated and implied that I knew more than him, told me that I could just pay for the MRI myself, meant more as a threat than a suggestion... (or insinuating that I was cheap) He was in a rush to get out and as I was still asking questions he was walking out of the room. Good doctor or not, he's rude, and arrogant. In this profession, if your tired of dealing with customers, it's time to retire. Good bed side manner is just as important as medical knowledge. read more

I had total knee replacement 10 days ago and I ran out of pain meds. I called the nurse on Thursday and she said she would contact the pharmacy for a refill. I will not see the surgeon for another five days. On Saturday I called the pharmacy and they had not received anything. I called the 800 number and a nurse (Denise Jay) called me back. I felt like I was bothering her. She told me there was nothing she could do for me and I would have to call back on Monday. Not let me take your information and leave a message for the nurse on Monday. All of a sudden she was not on the line she just hung up on me. I know this operation cost more than $60,000 when you include the hospital stay. Patients deserve better treatment than what I just received. read more

Everyone except the nurses and receptionist at this place are inconsiderably nasty. They talk to you like you're beneath them with a strong attitude. Both myself and my boyfriend have went here on separate occasions and had the same issue. The lady who scheduled our surgery's was nastiest of them all. I have seen 3 different doctors and one physical therapist at Rothman, and I am very satisfied with my experiences here. First, I had a sports related knee injury, and Dr. Albano helped with that, although that injury is still on going. Next, while I was traveling overseas, I incurred a Lisfranc fracture in my foot and had surgery in Scotland. When I returned, I was able to get in with Dr. Brian Winters immediately, and he took care of all the follow-up care for 6+ months, including removal of the plate and pins that were put in during the initial surgery. He was very thorough and gave me the best care possible. Also, as part of the process for my foot, I saw Dr. Schick for orthotics, Dennis in physical therapy. I had numerous appointments at Rothman, and many services and xrays. In each case, the staff were courteous and professional, and I was always seen in a reasonable amount of time. My only complaint would be trying to communicate with various doctors and staff. Their phone system is not very efficient: you have to call a central number, and then they transfer you. Getting to talk to an actual person is nearly impossible, and occasionally I didn't get my phone calls returned. read more

I have been coming here for years. Usually a wait time. I told them on the phone I had another appointment to get to after my injection. Way after my appointment time I still wasn't called to check in. I went to a clerk to tell her I was leaving. She said I had to wait till she had time to reschedule me! I had given all my time waiting. Had to schedule on the phone couldn't get a time I needed. I am in the room maybe 7 minutes to get an injection that takes 2minutes. This is being written while on hold for over 30 mins to make an appointment. I was given a VIP Patient Scheduling card by a doctor in urgent care. When I called the number they transferred me to scheduling; the person handling my case said they do not know about any VIP status cards but schedule everyone on the same system. I was given appointment dates two weeks out from this call. I asked to speak to a manager who does know about the VIP cards being handed out at urgent cares. The manager refused to speak directly to me but authorized an exception for a next day appointment at a location over 20 miles away (not the one closest to me and the urgent care facility). Do not believe the VIP cards or their advertisements for same day scheduling since Rothman does not actually recognize and honor these. Update: I was able to speak to Lauren D. directly and she is working to rectify the matter and make sure employees understand and honor the VIP cards from urgent cares. read more

Went to the desk to inquire, was told by receptionist that the reception area is 30-45 minutes behind checking people in but the doctors are on time???! The doctors are waiting for the receptionist. I had a right hip replacement 2021. The experience wasn't pleasant but my pain was controlled with prescription pain medication. I was able to get up and move , eat and do activities of daily living. I have had my left hip replaced 2 weeks ago. I am having the worse time with pain management . The insurance company now tells the doctor what he can prescribe for pain medicine. I am in too much pain to move around freely. I am I to much pain to eat. I am a generally healthy 58 year is man. I exercise daily. But now I can't even move without agony. The nurse Elizabeth has no compassion. I am sure this is not the only complaint regarding pain management. But my heart goes out to those who just stand as listen to what the doctors and pharmacist tell them to do for pain management The people who don't have adequate pain control don't move. They have no appetite. They lay in bed and don't take deep breaths. I believe this causes now problems and an even longer recovery. read more

I went to Rothman and it has been a major mistake. From the moment I arrived I was greeted by desk workers that were not friendly or accomodating. I got prescribed some sort of MRI by PA Thomas Geary and waited from August 11 until August 22 when I decided to call about the pre cert. They sent it to my private insurance instead of the health insurance provided through my auto insurance (I had a MVA). When I went there to talk to them (yes, instead of calling I physically went there) the help at the desk were condescending and the nurse did not even come out to speak to me about this. The lack of patient care is incredible here. Then, I get a call the day after with them telling me about the mistake in insurances. Fair enough. At least it is now taken care of. .. nope. Same horrible service. Just today (9/2/16) I called after I had gotten off of the phone with scheduling for my procedure and decided to see if they had called Rothman. Ah, another disgruntled nurse. Perfect. Like there isn't an over abundance of these at Rothman. Her attitude was wonderful (I hope the sarcasm is evident and her name is Linda). I figured they would not do anything about this situation, so I called my auto insurance and had them fax the pre cert to Rothman (funny I could have made an appointment without a pre cert before since it wasn't found on my files there, whoops) and asked for notification when they received the info and sent it. I also had my insurance email me my precert so I could see how long it would take Rothman to get back to me. Sure enough, they haven't yet and it has been a couple of hours since. During that time, I have faxed the pre cert to scheduling and I hope that Rothman will improve their nursing staff. Until then I will advise anyone and everyone wondering about Rothman to not even attempt to go here. I wish I didn't have to give any stars at all. read more

I went to Rothman because of the good reputation they had. I had severe back pain. When I called Rothman they told me that they could not see me unless I had an MRI and I needed to bring my disc and report. I had an MRI about a year before and again just before I went. I brought the disc and reports. They PA that I saw at Rothman read the reports and recommended the "micacle" injection ok that sounded good to me. I had to wait a month before I could get appointment for the injection. I was in extreme pain no one would give me much to relieve the pain. I called my Primary Care Physician office, they person I spoke to asked how I was doing, she knew I was going to Rothman and asked about the cyst that was diagnosed on my spine that could have been causing my pain. Rothmans physician did not tell me about the cyst since she did not see it, because apparently she dd not look at the latest MRI. I called her about the cyst but she still felt the injection was the treatment I needed. I did the injection, no relief from the pain. I had to wait two weeks after the injection before they would see me and I finally was able to get surgery two month later, mean while no relief from the pain. The surgery helped relieve the pain, however about 6 months later, the equipment that was surgically implanted in my spine was dislodged and I am in the same pain again. When I went back to Rothman, they sort of blew me off since there is not much that can be done. This was about two years ago and again I am in pain. I would probably not recommend surgery to get 6 months of relief from the pain. read more

My story starts from a auto accident I was involved in September 2018. I was referred to Rothaman for treatment, my first visit was normal and had no problems. The system seams to be set up for a high volume of people to be seen in a short time period. I was seen within one hour which in this day and age is acceptable. A MRI was ordered pending a second visit. Time passes quick before everything is approved by insurances companies and appointments are made with the follow up from Rothman. The second visit to Rothman I was advised by the doctor she looked over the MRI report and is recommending that I see a chiropractor and was given a referral. I found a local chiropractor close to where I resided, and had my first appointment and evaluation. The doctor started to read off a long list of thing that were wrong including a serious medical condition. I stopped the chiropractor mid sentence and told him he must have the wrong report the Rothman doctor did not mention any of this information. He then confirmed my information and advised me to seek immediate treatment for my condition. Long story short I had major life saving surgery within three weeks. Did the Rothman doctor have the wrong report or was just concerned with the problem at hand? I would be just assuming it had something to do with the high volume of people going in and out at Rothman but either way not acceptable. read more

I have been a patient of rothman for 4 years now, Doctor Tj did my shoulder surgery now I will have surgery on my elbow for a tendon tear. The Doctors at the office are very nice. My problem comes with the office policy to charge you to fill paperwork out for temporary disability. I was charged $40 today to have my paperwork filled out, the Doctor is not even filling the paperwork out. The paperwork goes to the office in Philadelphia so the doctors are not even seeing the papers. I am so furious with this office I feel I was ripped off. I feel I should get a refund of the $40. I have never had a medical practice charge me to fill papers out. The practice gets money from your insurance company for the procedures, office visits, and surgery they bill for, they also get your co-pays before you even see the doctor. The office has the nerve to charge patients for paperwork. The office should be ashamed of themself. read more

I have a broken patella(knee cap). I called the 800 # to set up an appt as per the suggestion from the ER. I told the operator exactly what my problem was and she gave me an appt. When I arrived at the Rothman center, I was told that I was not scheduled with the Right doctor. I had to reschedule with a different doctor, also Sports Medicine, but pushed back to July 2. TUCKER (And fought with my ins. co. to do so!) because other family members (my daughter and husband), had gone to him resulting in great success for each of them. Dr. Tucker is a warm, genuine, and wonderful person. He is a PHENOMENAL surgeon, who listens to you and strives for perfection. He is a straight shooter, and will tell you not necessarily what YOU want to hear, but how he can or cannot help you, with all options on the table. I have sent many friends to Dr. Tucker as well, with catastrophic injuries to their shoulders and knees. They have all been extremely happy with him and reiterated all that I had said, to be true. All surgeons at Rothman, should take a page out of Dr. Tuckers text book! read more

Having kind of beaten myself up in my profession over the years, I went straight to the Rothman Institute for a total hip replacement in 2008, then again in 2010 for extensive shoulder surgery. I believe I got the best of the best. If I were to need further treatment, I would travel back from North Carolina (where I am retired) to Dr. Rothman and his team. read more

My entire family has gone to Rothman for orthopedic care. Never have I had the experience as poor as Dr. Baker's. He was rude and uncompassionate concerning my pain. The literally examined me to the point of screaming and decided there was nothing wrong with my shoulder. He refused, after two rounds of physical therapy, to give me an MRI. He refused any type of pain medicine because " In Sweden they give tylenol for knee replacement!" After six months of pain I went to another doctor and got an MRI showing extensive damage to my shoulder and needed 3 hours of surgery to fix it! I've had double knee replacement with Dr. Ong and will never go back to Dr. Baker! My advice to the compliance manager was "Get rid of this stain on your reputation!" He's STILL THERE! read more

My first visit impressed me to no end. I was having X-rays completed at my scheduled time. My previous orthopedist had an hour wait minimum with an appointment. I learned more about my knee in my first consultation than I had in eight months with my previous doctor. My second time through wasn't quite as rosy. Timing was okay, but there was a little wait. The "story" from the doctor was different than what he hd told me a month before. That has disillusioned me. That was the hedge my previous doctor ran and why I ended up at Rothman. I had issues I thought was my diabetic neuropathy, numbness tingling couldn't get feeling in my toes at all and other symptoms pointing to a stroke- after further tests revealed these issues were all symptoms pointing to my back. I was referred to Dr. Barret Woods @ rothman institute, let me tell you all he explained everything calmly and in terms I understand got me in for surgery almost immediately he was very easy to talk to! My surgery I'm recovering as we speak and it feels amazing to have bearable pain and k lt because surgery ! I'm able to walk stand up and to be able to take care of myself is amazing as for past year my husband took complete care of me and he house!!
