I have been dealing with spinal stenosis, etc. had surgery in 21 from Kepler. It was a horrible experience at the hospital. They sent me to rehab and that was a nightmare !!!I just laid there and I was treated like I had leprosy and I've been having issues ever since . I see Dr Sinha very disappointed in his enthusiasm to help me, I've had and after surgery and an and none of them helped !The only doctor that I ended up going to see there was Dr Harer he is a knee and hip doctor and he's helped me the most. Worst experience ever. Tried walking in. Leg so painful I had difficulty walking into check in. I asked for help to get to check physically in and receptionist said "No." She had shoulder length curly hair. Was incredibly mean. It was so off putting, I turned around and hobbled out. Abysmal. My husband visited for elbow pain and was given a cortisone shot. Wonderful. Two months later (October 2023) we received a bill for coinsurance which came to $344.14. I immediately sent a check in the amount of $344.14 to Rothman and received word from the bank two weeks later that it was cashed. For the next three months, Rothman continued to mail invoices to us for the $344.14, in addition to sending my husband incessant text messages. Getting a human on the phone in the Rothman Orthopedics billing department is close to impossible. Multiple voice messages left for them went unanswered. I even submitted a request for assistance online. I managed to get a human on the phone on 1/5/24, and she instructed me to email proof of the payment to Rothman Patient Financial Services. On 1/28/24, we received a collections notice demanding the $344.14. Rothman Orthopedics actually sent it to collections! I called Remex (collections company) and shared the situation with them. I sent them proof of payment, and they assured me it would be handled. Can you imagine? I have told EVERYONE I know to avoid Rothman Orthopedics like the plague. Very shady billing practices with a billing department that clearly doesn't have the decency to return phone calls. Do not trust them! Go to Virtua instead. read more

If you need spinal surgery, Dr. Christopher Kepler is your guy. I was the #1 skeptic, and he made me a believer. My spinal stenosis was completely cured after having spinal fusion and laminectomy. Patient has surgery done at rothman institute. After recovering patient one through a physical therapy and it didn't help so one back to the doctor who did the surgery complaining about being in more pain before the surgery. Patient had trouble walking moving etc. so patient was sent through imaging two and a half weeks ago almost three and a doctor said they're too busy to call back and they're too big. And when the patient went to see the doctor, doctors only spent 3 minutes with patient and now patient has to go see primary doctor to get the rest of the results and to figure out the next step. I went to Dr. Karanjia after my physiatrist sent me to South Jersey Radiology to xray my sprained (I thought) ankle that I'd been limping on for at least two weeks. I saw Dr. Karanjia at the Rothman office in Marlton, NJ. My ankle was xrayed again, and Dr. K said I didn't need surgery, then explained what needed to be done to help a fracture heal. He sent me to an in-house tech who fitted me with an enormous boot that went up to my knee. It seemed really tight and painful to my already swollen ankle and I told the tech, but she said it needed to be tight to immobolize my ankle. I also explained that I have serious neuromuscular/spinal issues that the boot would exacerbate, so she gave me several little lifts and an attachment device for the opposite shoe to bring it up to the boot's level (almost). I had to pay $40 for the lift attachment that my insurance didn't cover. Later that night, my ankle hurt so bad that even the opiate pain medication for my back couldn't reduce the pain. My husband helped me take the boot off, since I'd been told I didn't need wear it overnight, and we were both shocked to see that the boot had actually cut into my skin all across where the ankle bends! By that time, my foot and ankle were totally numb; the boot had cut off my circulation, which isn't good for an old diabetic like me. The next day I loosened the boot as much as I could, and padded the area that the boot had cut, but it still hurt and interfered with my circulation. The boot was just too small and didn't account for the swelling. Also, walking with the boot on was torture for my back. Fortunately, I had an appointment with my physiatrist, and I complained about what the boot was doing to my back and my circulation. My physiatrist agreed that the boot was a problem, and he looked up the original xrays. He told me he couldn't see a fracture. He asked another doctor to look at the xray, and that doctor saw no fracture. My physiatrist admitted that they weren't orthopedic doctors, so he referred me to Virtua Orthopedics in Cherry Hill, NJ. The doctors there took more xrays, and couldn't find any trace of a fracture. I believe that Dr. Karanjia knew there was no fracture but decided to make some extra money. My husband noticed he never actually said there was a fracture. In any case, the boot wasn't fitted properly, and caused damage to my ankle as well as immense pain. It took almost 3 weeks for the cut across the bend in my ankle to heal, and the swelling is still present. I will never trust a Rothman doctor again! read more

My 19-year-old son suffered a Jones break in his left foot on February 1. Wesaw Dr. Sullivan with Rothman orthopedics two days later and he recommended surgery and for us to immediately see Dr. Daniel the surgeon. When we saw Dr. Daniel, he said if my son was his brother he would recommend waiting two weeks Before making a decision about surgery, so we did that. After two weeks in a cast he said "OK what's your decision? Nobody could've healed this fast. Do you want to do surgery or wait? and if you wait you have an 80% chance of healing naturally" So we decided to wait and my son was put into another cast for four weeks. After four weeks in the cast, we went back for another x-ray and we saw Dr. Sullivan again. He was surprised we hadn't had surgery and At this time Dr Sullivan also mentioned for the first time that it could take 6-12 months for this jones fracture to heal naturally. This was the first time we had heard this timeline. At this point I encouraged him he reached out to Dr. Daniel to look at that fresh x-ray, so while we waited Dr. Daniel did look at it and he recommended surgery at that point- keep in mind This is six weeks after the initial break. Dr. Sullivan then said we were welcome to get a second opinion and so we did that day and we ended up going with another surgeon in the area that we are very pleased with. If Dr. Daniel had simply told us right away to have surgery my son would have been back to normal life 6 weeks sooner. We also spent unnecessary money on 2 casts. I know rothman is highly rated and regarded, but in our case Dr Daniel did not take time to give us the full picture and help us make the wisest choices for our son. He was rushed in our 2 appointments, curt, and we regret we were not aware of other surgeons that specialize in foot & ankle surgery sooner. read more

I've been going to Rothman for a couple of years for my neck and back. My original physician Dr Young I was seeing was great. He was very compassionate and understanding and was doing everything to try and alleviate my pain but unfortunately he left the practice. I started seeing Dr Axelrod and the compassion is not there. I had an MRI of my neck and lumbar spine showing slightly bulging discs in the my lumbar spine, some inflammation, muscle tightness and now my one hip bone is higher than the other, which the hip misaliagnment is something new and a slight curve in my lumbar. My neck one showed two slightly herniated discs some inflammation, muscle tightness and apparently my neck doesn't curve enough. Got told that my spine looks fine that she can not explain why I'm having pain and suggests a new medication that she never sent to the pharmacy. I asked her when my intermittent fmla paperwork can something other than it occuring more than 2-3 days a month could something else be written so I don't have to fight with HR again since it happens more than that at times I get told she can only do the 2-3 days and I will just have to fight with my HR and walks out all pissed. I'm the one that should be pissed no answers, no meds, and have to deal with the stress from HR along dealing with the pain. read more

URGENT CARE REVIEW I was thrilled to learn that Rothman had an UC for my poor son, who was recently dx with a clavicle fracture. Saturday hours too!!! Hold up ... Enter the facility - two young girls at the front desk. Not the most personable, but decent. After giving my photo i.d. and health insurance, I was asked for a referral? FOR URGENT CARE?!!!!? The girl helping me said that Id have a $265 co-pay. I know insurance and knew I could call Monday and have it back dated. I was willing to pay ... she seemed disappointed with my choice (maybe bc that was work - IDK?) I told her my son's "story" - she said that the staff who do casts (he may not be getting one anyway - maybe just another sling) weren't in and that there wasn't much to do for my son :( The girl helping me gave me two business cards for the appropriate doctors to schedule with on Monday. Guessing the bad reviews are outdated because my experience from Dr. Tamar was legendary, and the intake and x-ray technician were extremely helpful, courteous and professional. My visit was a total waste of time. Went for severe pain in my thumb and up my arm and had numbness in my fingers so painful overnight that it would wake me up. I was sent straight to X-ray and saw Dr. Wang for approximately two minutes. It would have been shorter if I hadn't asked a couple questions. He declared I didn't have arthritis or carpal tunnel but offered a cortisone shot and prescribed naproxen. So a shot with no diagnosis and pain management. Dr. Sullivan saw my daughter over several months for a sprained ankle. After continued pain and swelling he ordered an MRI. He showed us the MRI images, saying additional pain was due to the shape of her foot and ordered orthotics($450). She continued to see him as she still had pain and swelling. At a visit 3 months after the MRI, he finally read the radiologist's report which indicated ruptures of 2 ligaments which would require reconstructive surgery. I was shocked he never actually read the report summary. Rupture was literally the first word. Due to his 3 month delay in reading the MRI report, she spent 3 months of unnecessary pain & discomfort & had the surgery at the beginning of summer instead of early February. She was unable to go to the months long summer camp that she had spent the entire year looking forward to and spent her entire summer recovering from surgery. Rothman said his care was within their standards, so only go to him if you can read & interpret your own tests. read more

I can't get anyone to return my phone call about a bill. They keep sending me a bill without submitting it to my insurance. I have reached out countless times as has my insurance company. I have written on the bill with my insurance company information but again they have not submitted the claim. I am at a total loss on what to do. There was a intern with him this time. I don't really like interns in my examinations but I guess it is necessary for the up and coming doctors to get experience. Don't go! I went to Rothman because I had a running injury and severe pain in my muscle and IT band. I filled out the paperwork and was sent immediately for an X ray, before even being seen ($$$ scam!!). My injury had nothing bone related! Went up to see a doc who barely examined me, told me it was It band syndrome , Gabe me naproxen script and sent me away with a follow up. Needless to say I cancelled the follow up. What horrible care and a money grab on the x ray. I will never go back nor ever recommend this place! No patient care at all!! I feel totally ripped off. I went to Rothman in Marlton for a knee issue. Despite the fact that I had never had any problem with my knee before Dr Michael Harrer told me I had arthritis and recommended shots and eventually a knee replacement. I had two shots with Rothman. Harrer refused to order an MRI. The shots didnt help. I finally went to Dr John Gray at Reconstructive Orthopedics. Got an MRI, which showed a torn miniscus. Rothman is a joint replacement mill and the doctors are just a factory for joint replacement. Stay away at all cost! read more

I have been experiencing tightness, & ache lower right side, since last week, so I went to Chiropractor. 3 sessions in, prognosis-was Compressed Pinch nerve. I went to work this Monday, & the pain went dull ache , to escrusiating , could nt hardly sit or stand. Due to my own stubborness from squats last Monday, I felt tightness , but pushed thru it. Needless to say I went to Rothman -The Urgent care, no appointment necessary & same great care & Dr's, as in normal one , it would be 4-6 wk lead time til appointment . I was escorted upstairs to X-rays, then nurse took me to Exam room & Dr was shortly in to see me.I told her what was going on, & after she assessed me, she told me it was NOT a Compressed pinch nerve..But the Sacroiliac Joint :The Sacroiliac joints help make up the rear part of the pelvic girdle and sit between the sacrum bone and the Ilia or hip bones. Well I had ALL the classic symptoms, so she sent Anti-inflammatory script, & it bruised , so Now I am on limited cardio, no weights til this bruising heals. Damn..But least its just bruised & inflamed. Return visit: Hope not, But if I ever need specialist, This is where to go!!!. From foot, spine & neck, they are personable, & thorough!! . During the summer of 2017 I had my left hip total replacement. My experience was very positive. There were a number of key variables that impact my memory. My first memory brings me to the Marlton office where all of the office administrators were both pleasant and thorough. The gentleman that took my X-rays was kind and thoughtful. My surgeon, Dr. Hozack came highly recommended. The Physician Assistant Paula helped to guide me through my recovery and thoughtfully answered all of my questions. My hospital experience at Jefferson was amazing with an array of top level nurses that entered my room with kindness and professionalism. The physical therapist team was both demanding and focused on my improvement. I would highly recommend the entire Rothman - Marlton experience. I have a brand new left hip that is pain free. Even though the nurse I saw was very nice and thorough and the administrative staff very courteous, the doctor, on the other hand I went to see for hip pain was absolutely awful. If I spent 4 minutes in his office that would be stretching it. He NEVER went over my MRI/X rays with me and since he didn't spend any time actually looking at the MRI or talking to me about my pain - he gave me a cortisone shot in the wrong area. Got no relief whatsoever. I was quite surprised that a doctor can treat patients this way - when I asked a question, he was very short with the answer. Walked out of the room thinking what the heck just happened? Seeing another hip specialist at another facility - not only did he sit down and listen to my concerns about where my pain was - he spent quality time with me, and was very thorough with the course of treatment. They gave me a cortisone shot in the area that needed it and prescribed physical therapy to strengthen my hip area. Well after almost a year of pain, I am feeling much better only after a few days! read more

Dr Vaccaro is my spinal surgeon. My decompression surgery on L5-S1 last fall had failed: re-herniated and a piece of bone broke off and was floating somewhere in there. Doc V discussed my options and we redid it plus fused the disc in Feb. 10 weeks go by, & Dr Vaccaro genuinely seemed to feel bad that I was still in the amount of pain I was in. He referred me to a pain mgmt doc in Marlton and as we were walking out of the treatment room he told me to go see Dr Young and then come back and see him in 3 months. Here's my problem - he didn't say that in his little recorder!! So when I called for a follow up last month - the young lady on the phone told me that since it wasn't in the Doc's notes - I can't see him! Exactly who is this phone answerer to tell me that I cannot see this doctor?? Tomorrow I see Dr Young finally which is great because I cannot move!! read more

She never introduced herself, she rolled her eyes when I spoke, and said "there was no reason I should be in pain" - since the X-ray looked fine. This has been the most dismissive experience I have encountered in medicine. Dr. Patel and another doctor that wasn't in the room long enough to remember his name are a disgrace to the Rothman name. I gave it 4 times which is more than deserved. The Urgent care was terrific but private appointments were disappointing and one of my employees had the same experience and disappointment with Dr. Patel. He takes no more than 3 minutes with no real engaging in your pain or issue and you get a shot and script for PT and abruptly leaves the room. You are not sure if he is returning to answer your questions. He doesn't!!!! Seems that's what he does for everyone. The last DR. disappeared after scolding a tech, saying he would be right back. That never happened. I sat there and more than 10 minutes later a very nice PA showed up. This guy beamed with personality and I was happy to see a human enter the room.
