The Rothman Institute is run by a private equity firm that seems to care more about profit than about patients' health. Whether needed or not, and even before you see a doctor, they take as many X-rays as possible--even of areas that are not relevant--just to make money. I was there today. Before I saw the doctor, they took four X-rays of my fingers, including one that wasn't even injured. When I finally saw the doctor, he told me the X-rays were unnecessary, and he didn't even look at them. This has happened to me three times in my last three visits. Taking so many unnecessary X-rays for the hundreds of patients they see daily across their offices greatly increases their profit. Shame on you! read more

I had two cervical spinal fusions done by Rothman . The first was April of 2023 by Dr. Guy Lee. For 6 months I walked around with my disc against my spinal cord because they thought I was just med seeking. I was admitted to the hospital after months of suffering in agony and when they finally did a cat scan it showed that I had a severe herniation. I said something was wrong the whole time. They had to do a second cervical spinal fusion to fix the one that failed and fuse the discs above. Dr Lee needed hand surgery and called the morning of my second surgery saying he couldn't safely perform it so Dr. Shroeder did it. These fusions ruined my life. It's now 3 years later and my quality of life has declined significantly . I was told by a neurosurgeon that my cervical spine is caving and she could do another fusion that I would lose all mobility with. I live in pain, can't work, have no social life, can't travel, and am only 33. I see no hope for myself and am trying to find a surgeon to help me who can guarantee relief. It is costing me my life and financial struggles. This week I have to spend another $300 on an MRI. Dr Lee got to retire and live his life but took mine from me at 31. I didn't know that I didn't need the surgery, I was 250 lbs and could have taken other measures. it's all about money. read more

Dr Gupta didn't show me the X-ray just said you will need a hip replacement. If you tell me you want one now I will schedule or physical therapy. Gave me a cortisone shot. I consulted with another orthopedic surgeon. He went over the X-rays with me. The surgeon stated that if there was any pain he would prescribe ibuprofen as cortisone would weaken the area. read more

I broke L5 and S2 in a bicycle accident. I am an active adult in better than average condition. I ride a bicycle about 9,000-10,000 miles a year. I was assigned to a PA in Marlton. My pain level when I stood or walked was an 8. The PA told me I would feel better soon. I didn't. A month later I asked for something for pain. It was 5 days worth and did nothing. It was not opiods. Again I was told I would feel better soon. I did not. I had the same pain, an 8, until around January 1. In December I sought out another doctor. I had 3 treatments in late December and finally had some relief. He also thoroughly explained to me why I had some of the pain. I gave them a 3 because compared to the Physical Therapy at Washington Twp. Rothman it was much better. My therapist had me doing some exercises that were extremely easy for me. I had explained to her my activity level more than once. I feel she was treating me the same as an inactive 93 year old woman stroke victim I visit. The woman has therapy in her home and is doing the same exercise as I was assigned. My therapist also never got to the second part of the prescription which dealt with "Progressive aerobic conditioning (treadmill, stairmaster, elliptical training)" I give the therapy a 1 star because there is no 0 read more

I did damage to my hand it was 3 times the size it normally was. I had x rays done brought them here. First the Dr. Came in looked at the x-rays and said it was fractured in 3 spots. Then said it's up to you you want surgery or not , I said I came here to find out if I needed it he said that's up to you did not explain details or anything, so I said no so after spending 8 big minutes and gave me a brace that fell apart after day 3 , had to go buy real Velcro since theirs fell off. $2,000.00 was highway robbery. For 8 minutes of nothing.. the internet would have told me more and Walgreens would have cost $15 for brace which would still be together. read more

I had some issues with Rothman Institute a few years back. I don't know if it's me or if being unprofessional is the new way of doctors today. I have lower back problems. I have had them since 2013. When I first went there I had Dr Patel. Very nice, professional and listened to what I was saying. For some reason after that appointment, I was switched to Dr. Molter. He was not what I called very professional. He seemed to care more about chatting it up with the staff then listening to what I had to say. My visit was extremely short. He recommended an epidural steroid injection and left the room to get information for me. He said he'd be right back. While I'm waiting I hear him chatting it up with the girls in the office and laughing, about 20 mins later I walk out of the exam room to let the staff know that I've been waiting. They apologized, gave me the information and scheduled my epidural. It gets worse after that. Weeks later I go for my epidural. Dr. Molter nor anyone else explains the procedure to me. They just tell me to change, put this robe on and get on the table, laying on my stomach. While I'm in the process laying there getting the epidural, Dr Molter is talking to his assistant in the room with us about his daughter and horses and they are just laughing it up like I'm not even there. I tried to ask a question and I even moaned and said ouch because it hurt and neither one of them asked if I was ok. I just couldn't believe it. The epidural didn't help and I never went back. I was in total disbelief that this actually occurred. Years later I thought I would try Rothman again for my foot pain. I met with Dr Sullivan. That was joke too. I was told to go by something to put on my foot and wear certain shoes. I'm in my mid 40's and was not going to wear shoes made for an 80yo person. That visit also lasted about 10mins. What a waste of $. I really can't get over how this place stays in business, let alone can spend tons of money to build a new facility in my area. I'll never ever go back there again. read more

I heard about Rothman Institute through a friend. I was excited thinking I would get some help. When I go in there, the doctor x-rays me and says I'm fine. And offered me drugs before therapy. I said no to drugs,did the therapy, I go back to see him, no change, I get MRI which was clear about the condition of my body from my accident. I did my research on the MRI report before I got there, I get in there today, he said I'm fine. I said what about the mri, he said oh , "it's just the mri your fine". Wtf??!! His name is Dr. Molter. I'm now up to the 5-year mark of dealing with an orthopedic issue. I've heard several potential condition names mentioned over the years, but nothing has ever been solidified as a cause. Test results have come back unremarkable. I just know these two truths: 1) Something is wrong with me. 2) The Rothman Institute does not care. There's plenty I can say against the Rothman Institute's policies. I've been given the runaround for a full year now and no one seems to want to actually help me feel any better. But for the sake of this review (because I could write a monster essay at this point!), I'll focus on the Washington Township office. After jumping through hoops and dealing with many frustrating phone calls, I made my way to this office in late May. I had just missed a full week of work due to debilitating pain and had also missed that particular day. I walked in before my appointment time and was quickly checked in. It didn't take long to be brought to the back. That appointment was fine. The doctor seemed nice and concerned and, for the first time since I started with Rothman five years ago, seemed to make strides toward a solution. It's too bad that momentum couldn't last. The actual office environment felt very rushed and busy, as the other reviewer said. After the doctor left, his assistant came in and told me how to exit the building. I was confused that I wasn't setting up another appointment on the spot, but I knew she was calling me re: tests, so I figured I'd talk to her about it then. It wasn't that easy, of course. Without going into a bunch of details: 1) The doctor wouldn't fill out my necessary paperwork for work correctly. He also wouldn't talk to me on the phone after I tried and failed to explain our in-person chat to his assistant and the office manager. I was to be stuck forcing myself to drive to work in ridiculous pain until my next appointment. 2) That appointment -- that I scheduled directly through his assistant via the phone weeks ago -- never happened. It was supposed to be last Wednesday, June 22 at 4:45 pm, but instead, I got to see the doctor literally walk out the door to go home for the day while I sat in the waiting room. As it turns out, his assistant a) did not input it into the system and b) did not own up to her error. She only gave me a boiler plate "I apologize for the inconvenience," which resulted in quite an enraged version of me after I drove an hour and 15 minutes in horrible pain to get to the appointment on time after work. The office manager got on the phone with me while I was at the office (at this point his assistant wouldn't even look at me) and told me she'd listen to the call recordings to find the issue, but it's now been over a week and I haven't heard from her or anyone at Rothman at all. Obviously, I'm just a number rather than a real patient to them. They're too busy. At this point, I'm cutting off my toxic relationship with the Rothman Institute. It has been a hostile, frustrating, truly painful experience. No one should have to live in so much pain or deal with so much hassle. The search for help continues. EDIT: July 15, 2016: I just received a letter, dated July 7, from the manager at Rothman. They effectively kicked me out of their practice for "harassing" and "verbally abusing" their staff. There was no mention as to whether or not they reviewed the recordings. They instantly took the side of their apathetic, awful staff member and left a patient in desperate need of care in a bind. I have zero complaints about my visit to Rothman. The check in process cannot possibly be any easier, from the time you book your appointment to the time they call your name in the office. They have an xray room and man did that simplify things. In my initial visit, we could clearly see where the area of difficulty is, conduct a lengthy interview on my history and current lifestyle and level of fitness, have an MRI precertification done and a follow-up appointment scheduled. The appointment gives me adequate time to handle the MRI without additional stress this holiday season. I am certain, though, if you're in a crisis situation, they'd see you again immediately. My physician genuinely seemed to care about my condition. He mentioned several times he believed they will be able to get me to the level of activity that is so important to me. There were a lot of "walking wounded" in the waiting area, and I, not being in a current crisis or heightened level of pain, seemed a bit out of place. I worried the staff would think I was wasting their time--even though the xrays took care of that. But that is not how they were--they were quite clear they want to get me as close to the quality of life I so desire. I was sitting in the waiting room glancing at Yelp's review of Rothman. I saw a one-star review and the doctor specifically mentioned was the doctor I was seeing. I had a sinking feeling in my stomach and worried more that they'd think nothing was wrong. Thank goodness I had the opposite experience of this Yelper, whom I wish would've received a better answer. No complaints here on Rothman. read more

I recently went to Rothman for a 2nd opinion on an issue with my elbow. After an X-ray and a brief meeting with the dr, I headed out the door. Less than a week later I receive notice of an $850 bill for surgery on a fractured finger. Amazing. Received attitude when I called to let them know about the billing error, called a few days later to follow up and it was still under review. Decided to call again a week after my first call only to find that the billing dept shut their phone off 40 minutes early. Great way to run a business. I should have looked at the reviews and avoided this place. This is not a complicated issue to solve. read more

Do not go here! Staff and higher management for compliance are downright liars. Melissa pre certed a test for me incorrectly and I received a bill. I called and spoke to her boss who admitted fault. Compliance Director Nicole claims that Melissa did not do anything wrong, however I did not call to pre cert my own test and I have proof of their mistake. I am left with a $240 bill and bad taste in my mouth. Rothman physicians frequently brush off issues and claim they can't do much for issues and speak to you for 5 minutes and walk out. So disappointed with Rothman in Washington Township NJ. There was a time when Rothman was the best -not the same anymore. I called and "specifically" asked for an appt with Orthopedic Surgeon, she said fine no problem. Then she said you are all set with Dr Axelrod. I said ok. To my great disappointment I realized after i tried to pick up meds at Pharmacy that she is NOT an Orthopedic Surgeon. I was absolutely lied to and misled. So be careful when you ask for an Ortho they will lie to you & schedule you with a DO with no explanation. read more

Beautiful facility. The first appointment went relatively smooth to check out my foot with Dr. Sullivan. They scheduled a follow-up without consulting if the time was even feasible for me but I still agreed. For the follow-up, Dr. Sullivan was over an hour late for an appointment ahead of me and 45 minutes late for mine which I had to leave because I needed to return to work. Upon asking to reschedule with a receptionist in the office - I was told to call the 800 number to do so. Which had me on hold for another 15 minutes before hanging up. The disregard for my time will force me to never return. Strongly recommend finding another doctor. read more

I have been a patient of Rothman since Jan 2018 and I have been nothing but pleased with the service. Everyone is friendly from the moment you walk in the door. I had to get reconstructive foot surgery with Dr Daniel and let me say he is the BEST. He treats you like you are family and will tell you the truth will not sugar coat. He does not rush you with questions and makes you feel like you are his only patient by going the extra mile. My recovery is going so smooth by the wonderful work he has performed. I just read this I wrote that one store if even a one star review. I did come in again and basically he kind of brushed me off. Earliest that's how I felt I have an even half of at least 3 inches he told me eventually it would work it's way out it did not he also told me that he never told me something that I know he told me about my femur bone and he was going to try to fix that because it must've been a birth defect and when I asked him about it he said he never said it well yes he did say it I'm not stupid. Doctors are so worried about being sued and I understand that that. No one told me I was going to have an extra long surgery much longer than most hip replacement surgery so no one told me I was gonna wake up to a huge bag of blood over me because I lost so much blood. I am surprised at the unfavorable reviews and I'm sorry for anyone in pain who can't get answers and relief. I thankfully, have had only good interactions at Rothman. I have knee issues which were quickly addressed by Dr. Gupta. He gave me options about care and I have been seeing him for 3 years and the treatment is working. I have waited an overlong time to be seen only one time -there was a teen patient in need of immediate care and I witnessed the angst of the mom and son as they were waiting to be seen. i was recently seen at the Rothman Institute in Washington Township/Sewell. The staff was so busy and appeared so stressed out that they rushed me through as fast as possible! From the reception desk, to the nurses, to the doctor, they all were rushing that I did not get to ask the questions i needed to. They were cold and unprofessional. This is unacceptable and my pain was not managed properly as 2 days later I am still in pain. I called to ask for help and again I was rushed off the phone. I understand everyone is busy these days but this was ridiculous! If you want your medical questions answered and your pain managed appropriately, DON'T go there. So disappointed. I will indeed look for another medical practice that will hopefully take more time and interest in the needs of their patients for which they are getting paid! read more

Horrible here. Too many reasons to count. On one visit the doctor called me by someone else's name and had someone else's scansis up on the screen. I paid $1700 out of pocket for injections that just made my knee worse. I had numerous Cortizone shots and drainage. And was still in excruciating pain. Awesome experience! I was a new patient so I allotted an hour and a half for my visit. The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. The check in process was quick and easy. I didn't wait at all to go back to the exam room or to see the doctor. Dr. Gupta was knowledgeable and thorough and addressed my problem appropriately. Very disappointing that's all I have to say about Rothman Institute at the Washington Township location. I heard some many good things on the radio, which is why I went here, only to get no help with my problem with my left wrist at all. When the doctor saw me, and ask what was going on with my wrist, I informed him the pain, swelling, popping and clicking, along with not being able to put any pressure on it at all, I was having in the wrist. Then, After a quick examination, and getting the feeling I was waisting his time, he informed me that he doesn't see anything wrong with my wrist. He then said, if you like I can give you a shot, but not sure if it will do anything. Then said if you want, I can put a splint on your wrist and see how that works. Didn't say how long to wear it, just said if it still hurts after a while wearing the splint, you can make an appointment if you want, and we'll look at it again. It was very obvious, this doctor didn't want to help me at all with the pain I was having and was blowing me off. After I left, angry and upset, I went on line to look up my symptoms, to see what it might be. I found that with the pain, popping and clicking and swelling, and the location of the pain, all my symptoms pointed it is a triangular fibrocartilage complex injury, which this doctor didn't even mention at all. Further reading, the web site had information, that with this type of injury an x-ray and MRI does not always show a tear, and first treatment would be wearing a splint or a cast for 4-6 weeks. This doctor at Rothman Institute didn't even talk about this type of injury, didn't say how long to wear the splint I was given, and felt he had no concern at all to try and help me. So with all that said, I will not be making an appointment back with this doctor, or any doctor at Rothman Institute, I am still having pain along with the popping and clicking, and I will be looking for another doctor. One who wants to take his time to look over my wrist and see what he can do to help me, so I won't be in pain and discomfort that I am still having. Just to add on, when I arrived and informed Rothman that I had brought X-rays with me and only a week old, the doctor did not want to use them, and I had to take all New X-rays of my wrist. Now I will be be charged for the first set I had taken, and I will have to pay for the ones that Rothman made me take when I arrived. Again, very disappointed with the treatment that I was given, and will not think twice seeking treatment from any Rothman Institute. read more

I tried going online and was told someone would get back to me shortly....that was 4 business days ago. Then I tried calling the appointment phone number, and, after 30 minutes of being told I was important to them and someone would answer "shortly", I hung up. My time is valuable also. read more

Absolutely horrible. Waited hours to be seen. Had my knee drained by Dr. Gupta and it swelled back up and the fluid came back two days later. I called and left a message and an email for him and did not get a call or reply. I went to the Washington Township office and the woman at the desk told me that she could not help me because he was not in that office that day. His assistant or whoever called me back the next day very unprofessional chewing or eating something while talking on the phone and told me I could be seen in two weeks and that I should still work but don't kneel on it or put any pressure on it and ice it and keep it elevated which I told him is not possible in corrections and he still did not put me out of work. I am completely dissatisfied and disgusted with Rothman Orthopaedics and will be treated elsewhere. I do not encourage anyone to go here. read more

My husband has been treated at Rothman's Turnersville office. Had 3 different surgeries (including a full knee replacement). He recently went for a foot problem and was given a walking boot. We were quite surprised when we found Rothman billed $400 for this boot which can be purchased online for between $44 to $59 (for the exact same model). My husband attempted to contact their office and the woman who answered wouldn't discuss it. We definitely would think twice before going to their office again. read more

This place is a joke. I've seen every doctor from my foot to my neck trying to find why I was in so much pain through my entire body. Mainly lower back n down. I went for one year they did nothing but tell me to try PT constantly. Constantly saying that's another doctor to see. Finally one said let's do a blood test-thinking Lymes. I did the test heard nothing for three weeks, finally I check LabCorp myself n see my RA factor is red n 16. I never hear anything from that dr about my labs. Another dr told me 16 is not a big deal, and red means nothing but he can't do anything I need the dr who gave me the test script. I asked him if he thought it was professional to not even call when a red flag shows up, anything. He said no you need to call. But I might want to talk to a RA doctor too. REALLY!! I ALREADY FIGURED THAT AND DID THAT WITHOUT THEM! Waste of money!! Don't go! They only deal with bones if you think it more they will NEVER figure it out!! read more
