Updated review: After receiving repeated calls from the company that I didn't answer and then an email that criticized my review of them, I would just like to emphasize that my review was only filled with facts that cannot be denied. There was no reason to contact them after the fact since it was already finished. Just for me to be persuaded not to give a less than 5 star review? So if I had a 5 star review to post, I should just call them and tell them and NOT post it? The purpose of reviews is to recount your experience for others to read. I did not criticize the company or their employees. The employee that finally got me the appraisal did go thru extra efforts to get it to me, but it was not an accommodation to me, as I didn't say I needed it right away. Rather, it was to make up for his own company's mistakes, which just makes him a good and loyal employee. However, those times he made me wait for his responses was unnecessary, as I waited over an hour total as he drove, then again when he researched the payment. He could've told me that he would need time to get back to me instead of me checking the website every 3 minutes for a response. The company made mistakes and put me thru some unwarranted delays and effort. They got 3 stars from me. Accept your mistakes, apologize, work to eliminate future mistakes and move on. Don't try to change my mind and criticize me. Original review: The appraisal was for a small 3 family row house that I owned, but didn't live in. The appraiser went thru the house in less than 15 minutes, which I thought was kind of quick. All he did was just take pictures and didn't really take a close look at anything or really ask any questions. I know it's not the same as an inspection which can take a couple of hours, but I thought a half hour was reasonable. I paid him and he left. I get a call the next day that the pictures didn't come out for about half the pictures and he needed to come back. Weird, but I let him come back a couple days later on a Monday, as I had to go there again just for this. When he left, he said the appraisal report was already written and was just waiting for the pictures to be added and I'd have it in a couple of days at the latest. I wait till Saturday and still nothing, whereupon I post a message to their website late in the day. To my surprise, I get a reply that they will look into it. I'm waiting and waiting with no warning and a half hour later I get a response. The delay was because he was driving at the time. Then he says the report wasn't sent to me because I hadn't paid yet. I told him I did on the first day. Another half hour passes as I wait and wait again without any warning and then I get another response that it was overlooked and that they'd email it to me right away. And he adds that he's hoping for a 5 star review from me for all his efforts. LOL The appraisal was fine by the way. Getting it wasn't so easy. read more

We were in a desperate rush for an appraisal and were referred to Rothstein Real Estate Appraisers by a local realtor. Phyllis came out to view our place on a Saturday and researched / delivered the appraisal on Monday -- when she had 5 other appraisals to do. She was very straight forward and helped us understand how things work. The appraisal was right on target. Phyllis is extremely knowledgeable about co-ops and condos in Jackson Heights, Queens, a neighborhood that can be very difficult to appraise. We highly recommend her! read more

It's amazing how one office can contain so much incompetence. This office screwed up my appraisal so badly that the bank said they had never seen anything like it. The deal took a big hit because of their shortcomings. I would never use them again. read more
