Justin arrived at my house and put a camera through my main line. found tree roots and a break. He Gave me a quote, with no mention of "extras". The quote was what we were charged. We were worried that there would be damage to our lawn, patio stones, etc. Justin's team of Andrew and Nick arrived on time, found the breaks, and replaced the broken pipe. There was a lot of digging as they had to go 8 feet down. They were exceptionally careful with the landscape. no damage at all. When they had finished, no one could ever tell that such and extensive operation had taken place. Nick and Andrew were very conscientious and professional. I would highly recommend them. Adam arrived and got right to work. When the corroded screws wouldn't come off the outside cleanout, he didn't fuss, he just went to the basement drain and got going there with the camera inspection. Called roto rooter to snake a kitchen drain. I used a competitor previously and it was about 250$. I advised the 2 technicians that showed up the prev. company used a 90 ft. snake. They started with a 60 ft, and of course didn't get it, came back with a longer snake and of course freed it up. Handed me a bill for almost 750.00. I called the office to dispute and they offered me a 1/2 hr. off. Their 1st hour of labour is 295.00 !!!!! SO IN TOTAL ABOUT 650$. JUST TO SNAKE a drain. CRAZY - I didn't stand over an watch these guys work, i left them alone, but 2.5 hours to snake a drain is just NUTS. will not use them EVER again. read more

I had some work done in my laundry room. The work is fine so far, but the rest of the experience has been terrible. I was verbally quoted a price; however, when I received my credit card bill, I had been charged $1150.00 more than the original quote. I did not receive anything in writing until I requested an invoice. The technician called and said the higher amount was the one I had been quoted. Three times I called the office and asked to speak to a supervisor or manager. No one even had the courtesy to phone me back. If you must use this company, get everything in writing read more

Worst customer service ever! I had to turn back the first plumber that showed up because he was rude and aggressive. Second one showed up, telling me that out of the 2 jobs I booked the service for, he could only help me with 1. He then dismantled our 2 bathroom faucets to shortly after tell me that he could not help us and that we would receive a quote to change both faucets completely (turned out to be well over 2k for something that was fixed for 250$ with another plumber) Despite saying that he would leave the 2 faucets like he found them he didn't reconnect the water. So I basically paid to find myself in a worst position than I was before calling Roto Rooter. When I called the company to discuss this situation I was told by a bored to death 20 something that I shouldn't complained, and that I paid for the service I received. Lovely. When I asked to speak to a manager to discuss it further, it proved to be impossible to do so. I called 5 times leaving messages for a manager to call me back and despite being told that the manager would call me back in the afternoon 4 out of the 5 times I called, I am still waiting for a callback to this day, a month later. Their marketing line is that they're #1 in the number2 department. After my experience, I'd say they're mostly a number 2. Find another option if you can. read more

Experienced a drain blockage. The first service person snaked the inside drain only. Charged me $346. The blockage persisted. I called to request service again. It turns out that the first guy should have snaked the outside drain since tree routes were blocking the sewer pipe. The second guy snaked the outside pipes and charged me another $346. He said "well, it is just your word against the first service guy who screwed up". I complained to the office administrator who agreed to give me a 15% discount. Guess what...I never did get the discount. Never mind that they should not have charged me anything for the second service call. I will be taking my future business elsewhere. read more

Attention and beware all consumers....Roto Rooter (Etobicoke location) is the worst company I have ever dealt with and would rate them a 0 star! Do not call this company if you have a plumbing problem because they are FRAUD! The employees do not have the proper training and the staff are dishonest and very rude. I would NEVER recommend this company to any of my family or friends. I contacted them to clear a clogged main drain. The Serviceman came over and used a camera and told me that he had "bad news" for me and that I needed to dig up my finished basement, break all my ceramics and install a new pipe because the pipe I had was "sloped" and needed to be changed according to him. After my husband and I repeatedly asked him to snake the line, he refused to do so because all he had in mind was to make more money for the company and provided me a quotation of $9,260 to start the job immediately the next morning. He made a complete mess of my basement and left sewage everywhere. He then contacted his Restoration Department and then quoted me another $1,700 to clean up the mess that he made! Thank goodness my husband told him that we would think about it. The next morning I contacted the City of Toronto and the Inspector came out to oversee the damages and told me that Roto Rooter should have snaked the line before providing any quotation. The Inspector also agreed that this serviceman was out to make a fast buck and cheat the homeowner. After the Inspector left my premises, I did some research of my own to see whether this serviceman was licensed through the Ontario College of Trades website. His name is no where to be found. He is not a licensed plumber and is making a judgment call to break my ceramics in my finished basement. The quotation he provided was work that was not necessary to do because it was only a clogged pipe not a "sloped" pipe as he indicated. Thankfully, I contacted an honest, knowledgeable and reputable licensed plumber who cleared the pipe for me immediately by using a camera and snake. There was NO slope in the pipe as the Roto Rooter serviceman indicated in his quotation of $9,260. It was simply grease that was built up over time and was cleared immediately. Roto Rooter serviceman was very dishonest and NOT knowledgeable. This company just wants to make fast money and take advantage of any homeowner as also seen on CBC News Marketplace. This is my first time writing a review but the treatment that I received from this company was so bad that I felt the need to let other people know about it. I called their number for a technician to come to my property for a free estimate. I received a call from them that the technician, Dan, was on his way. The technician showed up at my door shortly after. I have to admit everything was nice up to here and the response was quick. I opened the door for the technician and invited him and his assistant in. As he was stepping over my handwoven carpet I asked him "Can you take off your shoes?". He said "NO!". Then I told him "Thanks" and showed him the door hinting that I don't need his service. As he was leaving he called me an "A**hole" and he mentioned that if I had asked him nicely he could have put some sort of boot covers on. I don't know what he meant by asking him nicely as I had a smile on my face when I asked him to take off his shoes and my tone was sincere. Anyways you guys be the judge. I called their company and reported this incidence. They told me they will call me back shortly but they never did. About 20 minutes after he stepped out my house I looked out the window and the technician was still parked on my driveway. I went out and asked him to leave my property. He didn't. I mentioned to him that he is trespassing and he needs to leave immediately. He said he is not trespassing as he was invited and he doesn't want to leave. He told me I can call the police. I told him that I will call the police and went back inside. I went inside to make the call and it was only at this point that the guy left. I can not judge the quality of their service as there was nothing done for me. I can only say their customer service is not good. I hope this review is helpful to some. read more
