Worst billing practices ever. Does not communicate or follow through. Find a more reputable business to work with.

I've found that their business tactics have turned extremely shady. Anyone reading this, I suggest you get a contract before authorizing them to go to your home as they will pretend to not have the parts needed for the job, and jack up the price / time spent on the job site. My latest experience with Roto Rooter includes them doing work that wasn't needed / not fixing the plumbing issue, and hiking up the price. 3x they visited the property and didn't fix the actual cause. I had to hire another company that fixed it immediately. When asking about the work done and if some of it was actually needed, their office secretary Jon turned very argumentative. Bad look. But it seems that's his usual encounter with his customers based on his responses to reviews online. Be very careful when choosing to work with them. There are many other reliable and trusting plumbers in Lake and Mendocino county. read more

Roto rooter is amazing! We use their services relatively frequently and in our experience, they always come quickly, they are always super nice, and they always do a good job. We have had frequent sink clogs, toys flushed down toilets, malfunctioning garbage disposals, dishwasher installments and probably a few other things. Appreciate having people that can do a variety of plumbing related stuff AND show up on time. But this is the 2nd time I've been left with dirt stains on towels or rugs that do not come out in the wash. PLEASE have your people use protective booties AND bring plenty of towels and rags - do not use customer's. Leaves customers not happy. read more

My experience was NOT GOOD. I took a whole day off work for an appt that was supposed to be 9am-12pm. Well by 2:00pm there was no call no show. I called the office several times to find out if/when they would be out--the response was a canned "he will call you when he is heading out to your place". I had another appt at 2:30pm, so as I was leaving the house for that appt the guy called to come out--I told him I was heading out after waiting two hours PAST time he was supposed to be there. He said ok I will call you Monday afternoon and we can meet at your property. Never heard from him again--horrible service. Little do they know I manage a 15,000 sq ft building (Company that employees over 500 people and word WILL GET OUT how bad this companies service is) that could of been a money maker for them--but I WILL NOT GIVE any business to this company! read more

We have a rental in Ukiah and previously have used anther local plumber. After getting no call back for months I contacted Roto Rooter. Shawn responded quickly with a quote, scheduled my job and completed it with no problems. My tenant called me and was highly complimentary of the crew to do the re-pipe of the house. Very unprofessional. I had a slab leak that was diagnosed by the tech hearing it and observing the meter. I was told I needed to replace all of my plumbing in the house @$12,000.00 or the leak would create a sink hole and my house would fall in it. I'm doing a remodel and moved 2 electric water heaters over to move a wall. When all was hooked up again, one hot water heater wasn't producing hot water. I was delighted that Roto-Rooter came the same day I called, and discovered that I had hooked up the wires wrong and the heater was not getting power. They rewired everything and even added a missing ground. But the heater was still not producing hot water. Although I had mentioned the possibility that an element had burnt out while they were there, they just assumed it was a wiring problem, and didn't test the elements. Yesterday, I tested the resistance of each element and discovered, as I had suspected, that one element was burnt out. I drained the tank and replaced the lower element. Fortunately, the local hardware store carried a replacement element. I fixed it myself. read more

Unprofessional, upped the price from the original quote, and did not follow through. The answering service connected me with their rep who came out right away. They were very pleasant and let me know that they could replace the next day. They told me it would cost about the same to do a tank or tankless (should have been my first warning sign) and quoted me verbally $2,300. I asked for an estimate in writing for both the tank and tankless and he said he would do that and have it for me in the morning so I could approve and they could install in the afternoon. No estimate came so I called around 3pm (answering service again). When he called me back he gave me an estimate over the phone and when I asked for it in writing he seemed really surprised. He sent me an estimate much later since he was in the field that did not include an estimate for a tank water heater and showed an estimate of $3,023.39 which was way more than we talked about and maybe trying to upsell on a different unit? I responded asking for an estimate for a tank heater which he texted to me at $1265 (no official estimate). I also asked for an itemized estimate for the tankless. But he told me he was off work and wouldn't do any more that evening (kind of understandable as it was after 5 at that point). So, at the end of the day where I had expected to be done we hadn't even gotten the estimate I had asked for so I decided to start looking elsewhere. The following day he told me he couldn't get me an estimate until that evening and then ghosted me. I haven't heard from him in 8 days (still no estimate). I am glad that I had already started the process of getting a different company to come out or we would have been without hot water for a very long time. We were charged over $600 an hour for labor and a grand for $200 in materials and when we spoke up about it the business owner called us and yelled at us for saying anything. The workmanship was good and the guys working there were professional other than the concrete footprints they left behind we can't wash away. I'm beyond upset right now. read more

I found out Roto-rooter installs on-demand water heaters only after every local plumber with good reviews was too busy - impacted by Covid. This team was great! I got quick response on the cost estimate and on the work. Knowledgeable on propane installs, Shawn helped choose a replacement heater that was high-efficiency while minimizing the venting and other work to keep costs down. New to septic, I also got some good advice on maintaining and service needs of my system. I sure like my new hot water supply! read more

With everything going on right now and so much uncertainty it was such a stressful situation to learn that roots were taking over my sewage lines. I'm home with my little kids all day, which my youngest has some health hiccups that make it so we are on full blown lockdown at the moment. So having sewage water coming up in my backyard felt overwhelming...but the awesome and thoughtful guys at Ukiah Roto-Rooter were helpful, kind, and got the job done right away. NO GUARANTEES ON THIS WORK after they roto rooted this line twice they said NO guarantees on this line. in late December ROTO ROOTER of MENDOCINO came to my property to run a clean out at the bottom of the line.Three weeks later it backed up again they said they would have to charge me again.i had a responsibility to my tenant to get this sewer line clear.i let them do the job again but told them to get it right this time. i hadn't even payed the second bill when the line backed up again..at this point there was a need for a more competent plummer and not retain the services of ROTO ROOTER of MENDOCINO ever again. the next plummer not only rooted out the problem line, but decided to routed the run farther up the lineas there were five connections. it is running great now no thanks to ROTO ROOTER of MENDOCINO ROTO ROOTER of MENDOCINO DOES NOT WANT TO FIX YOUR PROBLEMS read more

Had noticed that the shower and tub were backing up into each other late into the night, and tried to plunge, and use a snake to see if we could fix the problems ourselves. After fighting with it for a few hours, I caved and decided to call a plumbing service in the morning. From 6AM to 8AM, in-between my morning routine, I had called 14 different places in our town/county. All of them were booked for a day or longer, some up to ten days, or didn't provide the service we wanted. About to give up and just accept fate that I wouldn't be able to use our bathroom for what could be a few days, I saw a Roto-Rooter van drive down the street. I said the number to myself as they drove by and made what would be my 15th call to a place. Immediately the phone was answered, and I expected to hear the same thing, totally booked, too busy, or couldn't help. Nope! I was told a technician could be at my home within the hour. Showed up about a half hour later. The technician was very helpful in teaching and explaining the problem. Turned out to be a clog 75 feet away from our bathroom; never would have guessed. Educated us on the type of pipes we have, explained what to do since our pipes are at a slight incline, and general preventative maintenance. Took about an hour and a half, very prompt, clean job considering the mess that was already there, and fair pricing. Had no idea they are also 24/7. read more

Follow up; These guys said there was nothing they could do I had a bad line. They would camera it for $250 and find the problem...As a Contractor and income property owner of more then 30 years I have all drain cleaning equipment including a 100ft snake. I personally cleaned the line 100 ft... And... what do you know... No more problem. read more
