It was like 95 degrees when I got to the room. I turned on the AC closed the blinds went to dinner came back and it was maybe 85. Too hot to sleep they brought a fan with a cooling unit. DID NOT SLEEP. Tried the internet since too hot to sleep and ZERO. They called the company reset it and it barely worked and hardly did the entire time except in the common areas. The good news was the weather changed and I loved my second day, enjoyed the pool and had the best dinner of the trip with the degustaiton menu in their little restaurant. I walked up the street to use the internet at the Craft Bar. It wasn't cheap and I owe a lot of the problems to my room, on the sunny side and with the AC in the adjoing room.

It was about a 15 minute walk. Tours do pick up from the front entrance. Rooms: Ours was on the 2nd floor but luckily they brought our luggage up for us as the rooms weren't ready when we arrived. The two bedroom we had was okay, nothing special. There was a strange smell in the bathroom- like sulphur, which reminded me of Iceland. It was unpleasant. There is a small "kitchen" area but the counter and sink were pretty high. Service: I am giving this hotel 5 stars mainly because of the service, which is something I rarely do. Everyone at the front was extremely helpful and nice. They were also very hard-working as they seemed to cover the front checkin checkout, luggage service, as well as the restaurant. We called down with questions and by the time we came downstairs, they had printed out a map for us. I accidentally left my laptop in the room and after I emailed them, they shipped it out to my next destination. The hotel I was going to didn't even respond to me until days later.

The front desk personnel acknowledged IHG elite program status and explained all the benefits that applied. Overall, nice hotel and I would stay again.

Comfortable beds, centrally located with heaps of restaurants all within walking distance, a gym, and checkout is 11am, whereas most places checkout is 10am. Beautiful lobby, friendly staff, clean rooms. The cost is fair for similar 4-star hotels nearby. Parking is free. The bad: this place smells horrendous! It reminds us of sewage. The pool looks pretty, but does not look clean. Especially the many hot tubs. We spotted several cockroaches (and they were bigger than what we are used to seeing back home) in the back hallway near the pool. We saw mold in the bathroom in our room too. For the location, comfortable beds, and feeling like "home away from home" I'd book here again!

The complex appears to be a hotel/motel which has been converted into a hostel. The staff were super friendly on check in and throughout the stay, and the front desk lady took the time to walk us around to show us the property. The hostel has a large kitchen with a number of new hotplates and ovens, and large stainless steel benchspaces for preparing meals, however could do well to have some larger commercial style refrigerators. Found there were enough utensils for our use, however it could be somewhat limited in the availability of pots and pans when busy. There is a large TV room with lots of lounge seating and a huge LCD television with SKY tv box, DVD's available from reception, and you could plug in a hard drive using the USB port to watch your own movies. We stayed in a 8 bed dorm which we had to ourselves the first night, and shared with 3 others on the second night. Each of the dorm rooms has their own ensuite bathroom which is cool. The shower was adequate and there was also a hairdryer fitted to the wall. The beds are probably the best I've ever slept in at a hostel, and much better than many hotels I've stayed at. I had the best sleep here thanks to these beds! They are also made when you arrive, which is awesome - you can just rock in and rack out if you want. Also they don't allow anyone to check in to occupied rooms after 10pm so you won't be disturbed late at night by late arrivals. The pools are great - there is a one is cold, one is warm, and a smaller one is filled with mineral water which felt awesome on the skin. They also have free wifi, you collect a code from reception which gives you 4 hours of access (which became a little tedious having to enter codes every now and then - but it worked and was pretty fast). Great hostel, good sleep quality, plenty of space, pools, large kitchen, awesome TV room, friendly staff. What more could you want? Its only a short walk from town. If I'm back in Rotorua I'd definitely stay here again!

Complete with kitchen, washer/dryer and two tvs. This was totally unexpected as we arrived after dark and were not sure what Peppers would be like. It turns out to be a nice lodge house with a few cottages along the lake bank. Beautiful views, lots & lots of flies. Beware, although they are not the biting kind of flies, they seem to swarm around light. Keep your doors closed they will quickly enter. The cottage itself was equipped with a very comfortable king bed and huge bathroom. Great shower set up and a nice hot tub on the deck which you can fill with wonderfully warm water much like a huge bath tub. My only complaint is that the tub deck area was not clean. The tub was full of bugs and the window screen needed to be cleaned. We had an incredible nights sleep due to the comfy bed and great black out curtains that put us in a deep trance for the night. We woke up each morning to an incredible breakfast. Well done Peppers. This is at the main lodge although you can also order room service. I had the egg Benedict which was floated on top of a delicious potato instead of an English muffin. Loved it along with all the fresh fruit, juices and cereals.
