Local grocery store that has basically anything you want to cook with, snack on, or eat as a meal. They have a self serve bar in the deli, that changes daily. They have a seafood dept that has a variety to choose from, mostly known for their boiled shrimp and crawfish~Cajun style. We like the seafood dips they have, especially the smoked tuna a dip. They have the best key lime pie in town. So, I usually have one of those in my freezer. Oh, they have a big area for alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. You name it, Rouse's probably has it. Rouse's is more convenient to the beach than other grocery stores, but it may be a little pricier. You have to weigh the pros and the cons, like all other places. Another great Rouse Market - we stopped in while in the area to pick up a few things for the RV. In my opinion one thing that separates Rouse from other grocery stores is all the fresh made foods that's available hot and ready to eat like jambalaya and other specialties and of course the fresh baked breads and rolls, who can resist? This location has a fresh sushi count that looked amazing and a great selection of fresh or steamed fish and seafood. I love walking down the aisles to see all the things you'd never find in most grocery stores, the staff here is very welcoming and outgoing and always ready to help direct you to anything you need. I just heard Rouse purchased (10) more Winn Dixie locations that they plan to renovate and rebrand them under the Rouse name, unfortunately none close to my home but it's great news for their Louisiana and Mississippi loyal customers. I absolutely loved shopping here while in the area. This was my first time visiting a Rouses market and it was such a great experience! This location was well stocked with any and everything you could be looking for! I absolutely loved her extensive seafood department! I don't recommend coming here hungry bc you would spend all your money! I browsed around longer than expected. This market is clean and well arranged. They also have an amazing wine and beer selection! They have it all. No need to go to multiple stores , just pop on over to Rouses Market! The young man at checkout was very friendly and polite. Rouses Market us a great regional supermarket chain that is in the gulf region. Everytime that I am in this area, I find the time to stop at one of their locations. I particularly like that they have a lot of regional brands that I can't get back home, so I am always stocking up on some of these great regional brands. The staff here was friendly and the supermarket has a great ambiance and vibe. While here, I picked up some Louisiana coffee as I can't get these brands home in Orlando. I'm a big fan of Rouses and I shop at Rouses often in New Orleans. This location in Gulf Shores and the other one in Orange Beach really helps me get the New Orleans and Louisiana products that I really need. The Rouses brand Olive Salad is the best quality and uses 100% olive oil unlike most of the competitors. Rouse's is also about the only source of Creole Mustard and authentic New Orleans King Cakes in the Lower Alabama Area. The Rouses in Gulf Shores are way nicer, cleaner and have far better food bars than any in New Orleans. read more

Busy busy busy. Location is easy to access. They steam shrimp and sides all day long. Large meat selections. They cut to order. They have dry aged beef. Large fresh fish selection as well. Produce is hit and miss. A large election of precut items. A lot of Feb and go salads. Salad and hot food bar. Sushi premade as well. Lots of premade salads and sandwiches. Small deli. My last review here was six years ago, hard to believe, and a lot has changed since then. We've been through the Covid stupidity, hurricane Sally, and most recently a complete update and renovation of this location. We got our fresh shrimp boiled and flavored almost everyday from Rouses as our usual seafood market was closed for season. We were super impressed of how amazing they made our shrimp but even more excited due to the staff's excitement for us! My bestie makes fun of me because I have a favorite grocery store. Even better, it's over five hours away from me...but anytime I'm in the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area, Rouses Market is a must! First item is always a pack of Rouses Royale cookies (IYKYK) and basically anything from their bakery (their King Cake and Gentilly cakes are renowned.) Next stop: seafood department! King crab legs & steamed shrimp are necessities, and they'll even steam them for you. Also, their wine & beer selection is phenomenal. Service is unmatched - I have never encountered a Rouses employee who wasn't super friendly and helpful. Raining at the beach, so we decided to grab some stuff for lunch. I thought this would be like a dollar store with all the beach stuff out front, but this is a full-on grocery store!! Y'all, they have a dude rolling sushi in here! It felt like I found out where the locals shop!! Ha!! We stopped in for some prepared foods or sandwiches for dinner. The area around the deli was dirty and disorganized, we saw on the counter a filthy wet rag. We decided we didn't want to chance it so we left without buying anything. There is a brand new Publix right across the street, the deli was spotless and the prepared food area was spotless and everything looked fresh and good. I got online last night, checked their ad (super prices), and learned that I can place my order and pick it up for no extra charge. Perfect!!! Amanda was my personal shopper, not to mention super friendly and helpful. Thanks for your help, Amanda! I also went inside to check it out. I'm a chef, so a store that's new to me is always fun. I was not disappointed....I was ecstatic. Rouses Market has pork belly and it's so hard to find anywhere. It's my favorite food on earth, but I rarely get to partake because of difficulty in finding it. I'm so excited to freeze it and take it home to TN to cook. We enjoyed all our take out choices, except the unpeeled shrimp platter. Since the shrimp wasn't peeled or deveined, it was too much work to enjoy. My error for not reading the label carefully. This is my go to store for basically anything and even some hard to find stuff. The managers take time to greet customers as well as the staff. Eddie is the kindest person you will ever meet and he truly cares about what you are looking for in his store. Prices are competitive to everyone else so you won't make any huge savings here but to me it's worth it because the quality of the meats and fresh produce as well as seafood are exceptional. I guess I should say it's terrible go somewhere else so I don't have to deal with the crowds but that wouldn't be fair to my favorite store so please stop in grab what you need and if you see Eddie tell him Ron aka "Phat Panda-1/2Time" sent ya.. When it comes to grocery shopping I'm usually looking for a good deal on any items offered in the store. Whether it would be Produce Meats Deli or special ran on certain food or drink products. I've mainly done a lot of shopping at Kroger. But when I'm on vacation in Gulf Shores I love to shop here because they usually have the best deals compared to their competitors like Publix or WalMart. The store is kept fairly clean the stocker are very helpful and knowledgeable. When it comes to helping you find the product you are looking for. If I'm looking for something specific and can't find it at the grocery store that's close to my house, I drive the extra distance to Rouse's and am sure to find what I need for what I am cooking. The challenge for me is when o go in to get what I need to prepare a meal, I come across the hot food table that has a variety of great looking food choices that smells oh so good! So hard to resist especially if I get there before too many people have helped themselves to most of it. After that it starts to look crusty and unappetizing. If I circle back after shopping a bit, the trays have been changed out so they are on it. The bakery department has a great selection of bread, cakes, cookies and pies. I was looking for a certain type of bread and the gal behind the bakery counter was very helpful and very kind. There's a section with "not just for tourists" stuff from beach items to beach clothing and towels. Lots of good "to go" food at the meat counter too! read more

Called on our way into town for our vacation and was hoping to order some prepared shrimp. We connected with Jospeh and had some issues with cell service, so he took our number down and tried calling us back on his personal cell. Still had no luck, but eventually got through the line. He kept the boiler on for us past closing time and promised to make us some shrimp despite them closing things down. When we arrived, my wife was desiring a different type of seasoning than the ones that go in the boiler, so Joseph was more than willing to accommodate and worked up a garlic butter concoction from scratch. It was SO kind and so delicious - hot out the steamer. Joseph has such a servant heart and great attitude. It was so refreshing. He even went out of his way to leave the seafood dept to point us in the right direction for some other items we were looking for. I don't think I've ever had such a pleasant shopping experience at any other grocery store ever. Thanks Joseph & Rouses! Also.. the prices- what in the world!? I really want to like the store but so far it's been made impossible because of the checkout lines. I've gone in there and picked up items on three different occasions and it took me maybe three minutes to pick them up and it was gonna take me 15 or 20 to get through the checkout line because there was only one or two people or there might be three but there's 3 to 5 customers lined up behind every one of them with full baskets. Perhaps it's just me but I feel like I'm an imposition on the staff at check out. It's quicker and easier at either the Gulf Shores or Orange Beach Publix stores, The Rouses market on Perdido Beach Blvd. is also friendlier and quicker than this one. I don't expect to walk up every time to a cashier waiting for me. At the same time I don't expect (and won't) wait 15 to 20 minutes every time I go to check out. read more

We have shopped here twice so far during our week stay in Fort Morgan. This place is everything you need to stock up at your beach house/condo if you plan on doing the cooking. Great seafood selection. Louis was very helpful. They had fresh jumbo crab meat (see pic) crab patties to make at joke and lots of sauces. Shrimps and fresh fish. Great wine and beer selection. Sushi station and lots of fresh bread and your typical toiletries. The prices are reasonable. Sunscreens and floated for the kids. The workers were very friendly. One lady saw me wondering around, I didn't catch her name but she asked me what I was looking for and she took me right to it! I'm pretty sure she was on her break too... Good layout of the store and good finds to take back to your home state that are local to the area. We even found some local coffee that we liked and we are coffee snobs! This is a nice supermarket with average prices. We did not feel like we were being up charged just because it was located in a tourist area. We were visiting during the National Shrimp Festival, so I'm cutting them some slack on the lack of seafood and meat they had available and assuming that on a regular week they might be better stocked. Great bakery!! We come to this super market specifically for the desserts. The mini cheesecakes are delicious, the strawberry was my favorite. They also have an assortment of cakes, they have a beautiful cake that is rainbow with a light cream in between the layerss. It's not overly sweet and is delicious straight out of the fridge. read more

This is the second time I have picked up food from here during this virus..they do the best job of anyone here .During the shopping they kept in touch with me regarding substitutes and did a great job .The app is so user friendly it made my experience so much easier..you let them know u are on your way to pickup ,drive into the designated spot, call and they are out in a flash to load your car.. this will be the only store we ever shop at going forward and after all this is over even tho it is a bit of a drive for us,it is so worth it.. I cant wait to get back inside to that awesome deli.. they have some of the best things on that lunch buffett.. read more

I have always enjoyed the Rouses that are located near my Mom in New Orleans. They have a unique collection of items and a pretty good selection of things like beer and wine. So when I saw that Gulf Shores had one, I was intrigued. And when we needed some various grocery items (Including a Good People Muchacho), I knew where I was heading. Just like the other ones, they have a great selection of local items and other grocery items. They even have their dry aged beef roasts on display. I LOVE that kind of thing. Also similarly, their wine and beer selection was very good and extensive. I also needed a blackening season. And they had a few choices in that. With our kids eating the fish too, I wanted something without cayenne and they had that. Lines were fast and they even opened customer service for 10 items or fewer. Great store. read more
