Yesterday my husband went to buy a sack of crawfish. they were advertised for 1.99$ a lb for live crawfish. When the sack was presented ALL THE CRAWFISH WERE DEAD!!!!! This was a shock because the manager did not fix the situation. The crawfish are gritty and not clean. These crawfish are being sold to the public not knowing how long the crawfish have been dead. I met with regional manager of Rouses yesterday (David) he apologized for the fauxpau of his store manager: picked up some Taj Mahl Indian beer n # 6 Milita filters: also a king cake(the best super Market king cake) update 1-25-18 also found a Trump Shot Hole emoji cookie Ihave been shopping at Rouse's for about 12 years. They have a good beer collection. Actually an excellent beer collection. However, until yesterday I had never attempted to have lunch there. I ordered a sandwich and small mac n cheese. I went to the end of the deli counter but it was closed. I asked one of the half dozen employees where I needed to pay for my lunch? I was told I would need to go to the front of the store and pay there. I asked "can I pay when I check out with my groceries?" The deli person who made my sandwich said "sure". I sat down next to my basket full of my items I intended to purchase, took one bite of my sandwich when the store manager appeared (Belinda Long) and asked me "did you pay for that sandwich?" Confusion Embarrassment Anger! I told Ms Long that the deli employee told me that I could pay when I checked out. Ms Long stated "who told you that which one which one!" At this point I took the uneaten sandwich and mac m cheese to the front of the store and paid for my order. I also told the store manager she could keep the groceries. This was a most unpleasant experience. I have never been treated with such disrespect at a grocery store. This encounter points to poor management habits and poor customer service read more

My wife and I shopped at the store on Bertrand many times and we have always experienced unfriendly employees. Tonight once again we had a very rude cashier that acted as if she hated her job and would rather be somewhere else. I hope the management reads these reviews and improves the moral at this store. Rouse's is overrated. Plain and simple... and now that we have a Whole Foods in town, I think they'd better step up their game as the price of poker has gone up in Lafayette. Why do I say they're overrated? Here;s why: - Poor selection on many items and omittance of common products that can be had at any other store in Lafayette - example, no 33.8 ounce diet cokes, srsly? - In-house Rouse products are inferior to other stores. Their Rouse brand paper towels are crap, as is their toilet paper, and their tomato juice is watery, - Their bread department is a joke. NOTHING is home made, and almost all of their bread comes in frozen and par baked, which means it's then thawed out and proofed and then baked. Ever wonder why their french breads are not very tall, like they haven't risen enough? That's why... and the prices that they're charging for some of this bread is totally outrageous.... $4.99 for a little ciabatta bread? Really? I've shopped here 100 or more times, and they give you a good experience, they've got fresh shrimp. the southern cooked food is really good off their hot bar, as are the pizzas. However, until their mgmt pulls their head out of their ass and fixes these glaring issues I can't give Rouse's more than three stars... they can do better, and they know it, but they choose not to. read more

I know it's a yelp faux pas, but sometimes when I'm on the road, I get tired of restaurant food. This Rouses does the trick. The salad bar is hit or miss, but this Rouses makes up for it with solid sushi, friendly staff and a great selection of prepared food and liquors. This is exactly what you need for a hotel room fiesta. I only have one real beef with this location. They are near a college campus, but pull all their prepared foods and olive bar by 8 pm. This makes absolutely zero sense based on your location. If I get done working a bit late, I am out of luck. By the way, this is a new Rouses, which means there is ample supply of organic and healthy options. Kudos to Rouses for stepping up there game in this department. read more

This is the nicest grocery store I've shopped at in the Lafayette area. It is clean and well laid out, amply staffed by a courteous staff - no waiting to check-out, and a fine selection of quality foods are offered. This Louisiana based chain of grocery stores is setting new standards. read more

Beautiful, clean stores with great choices in the bakery (many delicious cakes, large & small--lots sold by the slice) and in the deli, in addition to the usual grocery store fare. Love when I find a Rouse's when I visit a town--wish there was one in my hometown!! read more

The salad bar needs serious attention. They keep it cleaned up, but the quality of the produce is poor. Wilted lettuce, off color spinach, and half good/half rotten broccoli in the bin make for a very unpleasant salad making experience. The prepared salads on one side never get stirred and get dried out looking. Panini sandwiches are only so so. Sushi is good though. Rouse's is trying too hard to compete with Albertson's. The Gulfport Rouse's on Pass Road is nothing like this one, but I liked it much better when I lived there. Excellent salad bar and competitve grocery prices. read more

This gives me the chance to find good groceries without having to deal with the River Ranch crowd and traffic when going to Fresh Market. The beer and wine selection is outstanding, as is their sushi bar. My only gripe is they don't have enough gluten-free products. read more

Rouse's gets 4 of 5 stars, and this is because of Chef Sui's sushi. He does a great job training his employees to be mindful of the freshness of the sushi in the cooler. I usually eat the plain sushi and nigiri. No sauces. Just a slice of avocado here and there. I rarely see any sweating sushi, or darkened avocado. I applaud him for keeping up his high standards of quality. I've tried some of the other deli items, and they were alright. The veggie pizza was tasty. Overall Rouse's is good for what it is. Some of the prices are a little high, but I'm glad that they opened. read more

Worst customer service . The meat dept. mgr. very unfriendly and unwilling to satisfy customer request. He said what's out is what you get attitude. Experienced this on 3 occasions with him. So we're done with that. On particular night they only had two registers opened with long lines. The mgr. decides to switch the drawers and cashiers at the same time. We would drive from Carencro for certain meats the have, so we are going else where. read more

I hate to post such a bad review, but here it goes. I work nights and was trying to have a somewhat decent Thanksgiving dinner so I ordered sides from Rouses. I picked them up on the way home from work. They were ready on time and packaged nicely. I am so not a picky eater but I'm sad to say that they were awful. The green bean casserole was so dry. And both the green bean casserole and corn bread dressing had too many herbs in them. The herbs completely overpowered both dishes. At first, I thought it was just me but everyone at the table made comments about how overpowering the herbs were. I feel like I completely wasted I money. Very disappointed. read more

A previous review had bad things to say about the salad bar, I have to admit that I didn't really look too hard at the salad bar but it appeared to be standard fare when I had been. What I really liked about Rouses is that it is a pretty good alternative to Albertsons, which is an expensive madhouse in my opinion. When looking for bourbon they had a couple of excellent sales and a sales person kept helping me to the point of annoyance to make sure I got a bourbon that I would like at a price I liked. They had a good selection of imported goods while still offering boiled crawfish and local things of that nature. I was pretty happy with prices and would suggest this place to anyone. read more

Great place to shop for fresh local seafood and quality meat. Can be a little pricey at times on some items such as produce and the staples but certainly a better value than Fresh Market. One big surprise for me was the pizza in their cafe. It's actually very good and reasonably priced and it pretty much topped all of Lafayette's regular pizza joints I've tried (granted, this isn't saying very much). They have a dedicated gas-fired brick oven, a variety of high-quality toppings, hand-toss their own dough and they have cooks that actually seem to care about making a good pizza for you. The pre-made slices are usually good, but it's best to order a whole pie and have one made fresh. You can eat inside or take out. read more

Went there to get some all ready boiled crawfish. They where covered in black mud, had a very nasty taste, and was only able to eat a few. Threw the rest out. I went to Rouse's to pick up a few items of produce and everything I looked at was brown, old, wilted, and certainly not worth buying. Also, the natural/organic section is overpriced---especially when you can buy them for dollars cheaper at the Drug Emporium next door. I wish this experience had been better, because I would prefer to buy from a local retailer than a larger chain store but I just can't get over the produce being in such awful condition. read more

Going downhill. Disrespecting customers and their own management. I've never seen such rude disrespectful people as in the butcher section of the Lafayette - Bertrand store. About a week ago, I stood there for quite a while, trying to be patient while a worker seemed busy with wrapping stuff. Finally he looked at me, then to some girl walking up behind me, asked HER how he could help, then when she said she was just looking, looked at me and said "what do you want?" Like I was interrupting him. Today, my wife was in the store, waiting for someone at the butcher area to wait on her. The workers were just standing in the back talking, when a manager came up and asked if she had been helped. The manager went over to talk to the workers about waiting on the customers and the worker starts yelling at the manager. What a bunch of losers. Corporate management needs to get some control over employees in that store. Albertsons is three blocks south, that's where I'll be going. read more

Rouse's on Bertrand. Where do I begin? Check out kids are often rude and mumble. More often than not I buy things from produce dept and bring them home and they are spoiled. Salad bar looks like it's rotten at 10 am. Brought home lump crabmeat tonight and it smelled of ammonia. Had the bakery department make my kid's bday cake this summer and it fell apart sitting on the table. I've given this store more than a few chances since it's close to home and i like the idea of local but seriously, it's awful. I'd rather cross town to Super One foods than shop here again. Won't come back ever. Southside Rouse's is great but this one needs serious help and new management. read more

The store is great, but I have watched the Deli/Salad bar go down hill since the day it opened. Rouses was always known for healthy food and deli/salad area is all but healthy. The hot food bar typically has mostly fried and high fat foods (used to have a lot of grilled low fat foods). The salad bar has some decent vegetables ,but the meats are all unhealthy processed foods (again it was not this way when they first opened). The lettuce is usually the cheap non nutrient iceburg mix and they do not put out spinach everyday like they used to. I shop at this store 4 or times a week for lunch salads and other foods. I have been to the other Rouses and they are not like this. read more
